Hi J, Thanks for taking the time to post that mate although personally I dont look for those sorts of parts and even if I did on here I wouldnt know the gen price unless I researched it myself. So excuse me if I am being thick here... but are you saying that members are or have sold these parts at these inflated prices and are readily available? If so thats pretty low, I have no issue with profitting within an acceptable parameter but such mark ups are exploitative and wrong. But I would caveat that by saying that I could make the same comparisons with gen PAM parts bought and sold here, including by myself, these are sold at considerable mark up from what OP would charge but you try and get them from OP then you quite simply wont. For example a CG from OP would cost me $120 once I had sent my watch in and also paid for the obligatory service £250 however if I bought one outside of OP it would cost me anything from $350 to $800 because they are effectively black market goods so the supply and demand rule would apply in regard to OP parts, I am not sure though if you are saying these parts you refer to are readily available or if they are procured in a similar manner to OP. If so then unfortunately I would not agree that this issue is actually ripping people off.......you want a gen part and you cant buy it off the shelf (so to speak) then you make a choice. Hence why I always work on a percentage value of a franken build PAM to a gen PAM, if a gen costs ten grand I consider a grand to fifteen hundred quid in parts is acceptable but thats me, even though to buy them direct from OP, ifyou could!! would only cost a quarter of that.. If thats the case then I personally have no issue with such a situation. And again if so then at the end of the day the decision is the buyers based on him knowing what he is buying and whats it worth in the rep world/ spare part world and not whats its worth at face value in the gen world MHO guys

Paneristi is going bonkers, bananas whatever you like to call it

Thanks D, I understand your point on the purpose and should of mentioned in what I said, about the promotion of the brand. But as I hope I mentioned my understanding from the information on Risti was it was not overtly set up for that reason though that may of been a hidden agenda (which I dont doubt). I found this in the archive written by Guy during the creation of Risti back in the day.... This site is intended to be a central repository for Panerai information, news and opinion. It is free for all to use. If you find it useful then the best way to ensure its further existence is to contribute on the forum, gallery or archive sections. and he went on to say While Officine Panerai are aware of the site, this site does not have any official sanction from the manufacturer. Now I agree that has changed but my point I was hoping to make was it started out with the same ethos as RWG even though Risti is brand specific and now that ethos has become something else..... I think we were once the same communities in terms of ethos but as I said earlier the Risti ethos has been driven in a different direction by those inner groups within it and perpetuated by the egos that have followed... Hence why I tried to make the points I did about the true community of this forum... -
I have sent PMs to all you guys (loads) who requested his Email but to be honest I have asked him if he is OK with that as I dont want him to be inundated with parts requests, its not his bread and butter and the margins are much lower for him than his watches especially when compared to the F**k about factor that selling parts can create.

Is it one of those YES watches ?? Inca I think??
-
Thank god for RWG

Within EU its not a problem as such, though there is always that chance. As I recall from reading the harder ones going in not out is Italy and Sweden. But Domi does go to Italy a fair bit so if your concerned you could ask him to post it back when he is back in Italy. Best to ask Rosnik (Nico) as he is well versed in sending and recieving from Italy.

Picking up on D's point, I am certainly not bashing the guys on Risti nor do I sense anyone here is. (For the record I am a member there) I think in our own way we are pointing out how easily a great forum with some great members can easily fall apart when egos become bruised and promises (however given) are broken. I think it highlights to me how much I appreciae this forum and the sense of community it brings, other forums I am and have been a member of, do have cliques or inner circles and if I am honest this forum does to a certain extent. However in these other forums it tends to be used in a more negative way and can be very ostricising to new, irregular members or less senior members. I have found that here and on a couple of other forums that those 'inner circles' or cliques or whatever you want to cal them actually benefit those new and irregular users. They are seen by many including my self as a source of support and balance to the community and indeed benefit the whole of the membership here. I have seen some posts on Risti by new members or less knowledgeable members that have been completely ripped apart by more senior members and in turn other members have joined in to put the boot in on the poor OP or of course they can also be just simply ignored. I have never seen an example of that here by senior members nor have I seen them allow it when another member has made that mistake. The growing influence some of these Risti guys have had has probably been influential in a lot of the current approach and attitude to general members on the Risti forum, and exacerbated by their hangers on who treat the PAM as a staus symbol rather than a great design with a rich history, and this has only been highlighted by the release of the "special" watch. I dont doubt most of these guys love their watches and still enjoy all the aspects of this great hobby but maybe they have just forgotten why they are where they are and what brought them there and why the forum was actually created 'for everyone and anyone from any background to come together and enjoy and share their love of a great watch brand and make friends' I feel that is something this forum and its senior members have not lost sight of.... For that I am grateful and very glad to be a member here on RWG and to have been able to get to know such a great bunch of guys from the newest to the longest serving members...from the knowledgeable to the novice..... from the rich to the less well off.... from the funny to the serious This is a great place to be and share a common love of watches not just reps as some may think -
Is that with Chips and beans or beans and chips ??

Le Hu is a trusted dealer on all the forums mate or rather was going by the OP. Totally agree with Cougaree though that happens but the lack of response dont help. There is a discussion on the general forum about her regarding some issues. I was myself about to buy a watch from Le Hu after a lot of communication which was always quick and informative. However just after I agreed price etc everything stopped, I assumed it was because of a personal issue for her, I then thought it might be because of the holidays over there at the moment but after reading a post elsewhere on here I saw a guy having similar communication problems for a watch he bought, had used a new Email address making a new sales enquiry and got an immediate reply. Trevors site is also blocked as a malicious site by Firefox and Google. So who knows???? Maybe Admin are aware of any issues....

I think you would find the DLC a better match mate. But for certainty why not just get the whole watch done. After all the rep coating is close but not a gen match. Avitt posted some pics on his gallery of a bracelet coating

That gaunlet has been bouncing off the rep makers floor for years !!! -
Thanks mate, Yes your right the black doesnt work at all. The thought I had, was a darker golden colour or a shade of contrasting brown. But thats just my humble opinion Did you get another strap or did you just replace the stitching?
-
Sounds like a very diplomatic bloke who doesnt let his wealth affect his thoughtful, generous and kind nature !!
-
Only one watch here so far with correct date.... Either these watches need a service or we are all getting lazy

Bergies in the trade section (Ken) can get a lot of stuff. Also a lot of the TDs here offer other merchandise as well as watches. Also TDs on other forums. Check their websites in the main index list I am sure others will have recommendations away from this forum etc
