Ubi - Have you considered a Jubilee? The strap is nice (& does a good job of toning-down yellow gold DDs' urbanity), but I think this 1 needs the semi-formality of a Jubilee.
The current 704 looks like the 703 externally, except that the 703's cap is wrapped & the 704's is solid. This subject has been covered more times than I can remember. Use the search for additional details.
I would agree with automatico on 1 point, but disagree on another. I agree that you are better off going with a Cartier (or another designer name) quartz than an automatic Rolex. I did an informal survey of a number of female friends some years ago (there used to be a thread here, but it may have gotten lost during 1 of the software upgrades) & I was surprised to find that only 1 of them really liked Rolex when 'prettier' (quartz) designer options were available. I would disagree that a rep case or watch is preferable to gens. Unless your lady is aware the watch is 'fake', I would not want to risk having my lady being outted with friends while looking at rings (or whatever women look at) during 1 of her routine shopping excursions. Some women are fine with reps & others are worse than gen forum members. I have a female friend (the 1 from the survey that prefers Rolex over the typical quartz designer watch), who loves the cheap Daytona rep I gave her
But, in my experience, she is definitely the exception to the rule.
VRF often ignores posts containing rep parts, which is what I think this is.
oliviemenard - you might want to add something like 'Can someone please help me out?' to your original post on VRF. No guarantee that will work, but if you still get no response, I would seriously question the authenticity of that bezel.
If you want to minimize the likelihood of having your watch ID'd as being 'fake', stick with a mechanical 7750 & be prepared to deal with the issues discussed above (less-than-perfect accuracy, cost of maintenance, etc). If, like TeeJay, timing accuracy trumps aesthetic accuracy, then, by all means, save the money (& headaches) & go quartz.
You will need to direct your question about the watchs' construction to the seller, but mechanical movements (which is what the gen uses) always cost more. The retail cost for a quartz movement is about $25; the Asian-made version of the (Swiss made) 7750 is about $75. You can do the math.
Just knowing the seller does not guarantee anything. The seller has to have a track record of selling 100% genuine Rolex parts for many years. A lot of well-known sellers have mistakenly sold aftermarket parts as genuine. Unless the bezel came in a sealed Rolex package directly from an AD (or Rolex), you can never be 100% certain. Post your bezel on VRF & see what they think.
Looks like a good reproduction part, but I could be convinced otherwise if it came with proper provenance or was sourced through a well-known, long-time vintage Rolex dealer.
