Ditto Ubi. The earliest 6263s were fitted with 700 Twinlocks. Later, the factory fitted 702 Triplocks. Today, Rolex installs 703 (or 704, which look the same as a 703) Triplocks during servicing
I disagree. I think the only thing that thread proves is what has been said many times here - the average gen Rolex owner knows NOTHING (beyond the name on the dial). I also agree with the poster that cited the use of the word 'gen' on that site as another give-away.
TeeJay - The problem is that the vast majority of people who spot your rep will never say anything to you. Instead, they will just think to themselves (or say to their friends), 'What a cheap poser.'
I agree - sell as parts. I would also reduce/limit your picture sizes to 1024x768 since your current pics make it difficult for most people to view them.
If the approximately $1k+ 1520 movement cost is too high for your project budget, I would assume the approximately $500+ price of an aftermarket case will be as well, so you are using a standard rep case. In that case, I think Alligoat has it right - the 2846 is what I would use & for the reasons he stated.
I do not have any info on the 2369-2 & manufacture of the 2369 definitely ended in the late 60s, but the '-2' generally indicates a new/improved version of a previous model. Still, it is correct that most reps contain used/unserviced movements.
The insert does not have the 3D appearance of gens, but you got the fonts alot closer to the gens than ANY aftermarket insert I have yet come across. Now if you can figure out how to make them 3D & grainy like tritium
Overall, super super job.
I do not recall seeing any stampings on those & the last 1 I purchased (3 years ago) cost $200. So I would guess its current value is at or just above its gold scrap value. In fact, just a couple days ago, I saw a gen DJ 16014 case, dial, crystal & white gold bezel in clean condition on ebay with a price of $700 or offer.
So what is the story behind this creation (especially the source of the insert)?
p.s. Even I do not have 'my' money anymore. The Rolex parts sellers have it all.
I think people get tired of seeing the same projects over & over again, but here are some of my recent (mostly gen-powered) projects
