I mostly concur (as usual) with tomhorn, except that I think MQ has the best Newman dials. Probably, the most expensive, but, once you rise to the V72 level, you should demand only the best available.
(coronets are gens)
Diesel - If the xtal fits (& looks correct on) your case, I would not worry about it being 1mm plus or minus spec. No one (other than an RSC, which will easily ID most frankens & all reps upon presentation) is going to mic your xtal to call you out that.
RWG is full of Daytona build threads. Use the search.
You need to decide how serious of a build you want (ie., how much you can afford to spend & how much hair you are willing to pull out during the process).
This is a sample of some recent builds (all V72-powered diy frankens - use the search to locate build threads containing details)
The originals came with domed xtals. However, the watch went in for service in the past 20 or so years, it came out with a beveled service xtal. Point being that either is correct & which you use depends on your preference & bank account.
I have an old DW gold Newman 7750 (with auto-wind module removed) that has been sitting in a parts cup on a shelf for the past 2 years that I might be willing to sell. Although it was running before I sold the case, it should be overhauled as I cannot guarantee anything. It would come with what you see in the pic. PM if interested.
Based on the scope reading, the movement requires cleaning/oiling &/or the balance is weak, which could be due to the mainspring being insufficiently charged.
Sorry, I do not know the tap size/dimensions (I use the Rolex taps, which are unmarked), but I can tell you that if the bottom of the gen tube is beveled (as opposed to flat), the case hole should be countersunk. Click me
Nice score.
This is exactly the type of place where I sourced some of the NOS parts for my Phase II '42. There is alot of old Rolex stuff sitting on old watchmakers' shelves.
