  1. Yeah..... unfortunately you're fighting the case geometry. Looking down through the crystal, it's already far too easy to be left with a big steel lip around the dial opening (the rehaut) depending on which crystal you use. Having the rehaut be noticeably smaller than the crystal it's just gonna look weird. CWP does make awesome crystals, but they're not the only ones. I've had good results with Sternkreuz and GS, and they offer a few size variants. I gotta be honest with you and admit the search feature here sucks. I found my links on Google thusly: crystal t19 3 sizes site:rwg.cc *cough*
  2. Some articles about this: https://rwg.cc/topic/188228-my-pcg-5513-or-5512-build-help-me-decide-on-parts/ https://rwg.cc/topic/187736-finally-decided-to-do-things-myself/ https://rwg.cc/topic/139330-clarks-t19-fitment/ https://rwg.cc/topic/186326-rolex-5513-nearly-off-the-bench/
  3. My ears are still recovering from that nasty H2 you brought to the IOM TT! IMG_1791.MOV
  4. Score! Well done, I'm glad that worked so well.
  5. Yeah the real small arrow is an equilateral triangle. The Raffles is a little long and the base isn't straight across. Tonny's piece is soooooo close, but the "walls" making the outline of the arrowhead are a little too thick. Otherwise it's spot on. Your 6542 is so nice it deserves a really good small arrow hand. Good luck finding one.
  6. I grabbed a Tonny small arrow hand when they were available, now he's out of the business. They ARE out there... you just have to find one. Here's how it looks:
  7. You might go a tiny bit higher but not much. A low dome is definitely the right look too.
  8. Hmmmmmm how about a manual wind with the rotor removed? Whatever it takes to mash an ETA in there!
  9. Not tall enough? I think it's just right. Remember this isn't a dive watch so it doesn't need a massive pressure resistant crystal.
  10. Oh yes, very nice. I didn't want to rain on your parade but it seriously needed a different crystal. This is a huge step in the right direction. Well done!
  11. Wow they even got the up-curved CG profile right. Someone needs to buy one of these and see if they can shoehorn in an ETA modded GMT movement. They day we prove that works, the factories will suddenly be able to replicate this. Competition: it does the body good.
  12. Thanks boss! Let 'er rip, guys.... let's get those FS ads going again!
  13. Legend is a giant among men, he always goes above and beyond to help his brothers. In fact I'm wearing a piece as I type that wouldn't have been possible without his help. Stick around! All enthusiasts are welcome and encouraged here.
  14. It had to do with space-time loops, worm holes, quantum singularities, ellipsoids and Clare. When you define an ellipsoid just right, you can place an item of supreme gorgeousness at one focal point, then another object of supreme gorgeousness at the other focus, then they can easily pass from focus to focus. So we put Clare at one focal point, the watch at another, and presto! Simple as that. And you thought there wasn't a simple answer.
  15. This is as close as the Wayback Machine can get, May17th, 2016 https://web.archive.org/web/20160219005322/https://www.replica-watch.info/vb/#expand
  16. Do you remember the month and year you bought it? If you do, go to the Internet Archive Wayback Machine and look it up. There's a fair chance it's there. Hmmmmm. Or maybe not. https://web.archive.org/web/20060715000000*/www.replica-watch.info
  17. I love how the aging weeped in beneath the insert on this. Now you need to find one of the small-arrow hands Tonnywatch did... they're nearly perfect.
  18. You can also try rubber dish washing gloves.
  19. Another tactic is to use the sun. I had to spend some time in Oklahoma during the summer and it was unbelievably hot out. So I figured I'd take advantage of it. The crystal and dial make a little "oven" right? Leave it out in the sun and let it cook. Voila' the tropical MBW Sea Dweller.
  20. Hi Pete, you're touching on a very common topic with this... what do we do when the supply of NOS genuine parts runs out? I've got a 6536/1 Submariner from 1958 and spent many years sourcing the pieces to put it back to as-new condition (plus a lot of accumulated wear). My original bezel was so worn, there was NO lip remaining to hold an insert. I started the search and finally found a genuine NOS bezel, and paid dearly for it... and discovered the hard way that it fit the 6538, with a different diameter. I sold it on (someone got a screaming deal) and kept looking for a genuine 6536/1 part. I have yet to find one. But I did find several aftermarket bezels that ranged from terrible to pretty darn good. So I kept the best one, an extremely generous friend sent me a vintage fat fonts insert, and voila' the Sub was reborn. To my eye it looks exactly like the genuine piece, so I'm happy. Now the question: what will the boys on TRF and VRF say when their vintage bezels pop off (they are soft metal and they do get loose) and they're unable to find a replacement? Now, they look down their long nose and sniff at "replica" watches that have one aftermarket part. What will their song be when their favorite vintage piece loses its bezel? Will it become an unwearable paperweight, or will they follow the path I did? At what price are we willing to accept that good aftermarket parts are just as good as genuine? And so here we are at good old RWG. We're willing to accept gens, frankens and nasty cheap $100 replicas. In the end these are just wrist watches. It's the meaning our hearts give them, that make them valuable. Do some searching for threads by freddy333 and cc33 about bezels. They've posted some high def photos showing the pieces available from different suppliers. Suppliers and factories do change though, so you may be starting from scratch. You also might try contacting Mary, she has her own parts subforum here. She is amazing... tell her exactly what you want and chances are she can find one for you. Be kind and gentle with her, she's a treasure. Good luck!
  21. What a stunner! A good aged Bakelite insert and well-brassed bezel will knock it outta the park, and be consistent with the age of the piece. I'd like to also recommend you pick up a 7206 riveted folded Oyster band. Rubywatch has them; from her photos they look very accurate, and they're appropriate for a 50s piece. Congratulations! Your dad had fine taste and knew how to take good care of his watch. You also might find a VERY high demand for a genuine Milgauss bezel ring. They're rare as hen's teeth.
