You have to be alert and aware all the time these days. There are so many crooks and scammers around, and obviously some of them have pretty darn good computer skills. I just went over to WatchUSeek to the sales corner, stars and bracelets, over the past couple of months there have been quite a few rubber straps as well as clasps sold, so that along with other gen forums is a possibility. Ming Quy. His dials are sometimes not consistent. You have to know what is correct, and let him know up front what you expect. If he thinks you don't know your dials, sometimes he will send you one that's not so good. This is indeed a terrible tragedy. All the more tragic because all of the victims are innocent people who were unfortunate to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Although this is a rep forum, I can understand your concern, especially if you are in a situation where your watch is going to be closely scrutinized, and/or you are in a situation where there is a lot of animosity toward replicas. If I were in your shoes, I would probably opt for a reasonably priced watch like the above mentioned Seikos, Citizens, Sreinharts, etc.. Also there are tons of Micro brands that are close to your price range, especially if you find one used. What will definitely lead to increased scrutiny would be your appearance in the workplace with a 6k USD. Rolex, or worse a rep of a 25-50k USD watch. Want to raise the scrutiny bar? Show up at work with a rep of a 30k USD AP ROO!! I do question your use of the term "fake" watches. There are a lot of nice genuine watches in that range, a lot of them will be gently used, but pretty often available with box and papers. Some that come to mind are the Seiko divers. The monsters, black orange, etc are rugged everyday watches that are pretty much bulletproof. Some Citizens, Used Steinhart Divers. The list could fill this page! I would go on EBay and type in Seiko Diver or Seiko Monster. Another good source of good used watches are the sales section on WatchU Seek. You are going to be hard pressed to find a decent chronograph in your price range in a mechanical watch. The ETA 7750 movements alone are selling for more than your watch budget. Dmitry, Welcome to RWG. If you are interested in 1016's you need to go over to the Rolex Forum here, and read the threads on 1016's. They are pretty popular watches, and there are some really nice builds discussed. The person that I really like for 1016's is a member jmb. He does incredible machine work and engraving. He builds pretty darn nice 1016'sw as well.

Honestly, I would expect that you will have more problems finding someone to work on the A7750 sec@12 movements than the clones with the decorated plates. Biggest problem I expect with those movements would be finding parts, but other than that, I suspect that they are pretty straight forward 3 hand movements. Another thing to consider is where you are located. If you are in the USA or EU will determine who you might use. I don't have and AP with the faux gen movement, so I couldn't tell you who might work on them. I have had a couple of my AP ROO's with Legend who is doing modifications as well as some movement work. Hopefully, he and others will see this thread and weigh in on options for you.

The older GMT's are hard to replicate accurately, and most of the reps from dealers are not very close. One big tell, which people who are familiar with 1675's can see are the crown/ crown guards. The 1675 uses a 5.3mm crown which is pretty small. The crown guards are designed for that crown. The reps use 6mm crowns with crown guards to match. That crown is noticeably bigger. If you install a correct 5.3mm crown there is a pretty big gap between the crown and crown guards Other tells as well, depth of case, insert, dial, hands, etc. there have been some really nice 1675's built but it's not and easy one to do correctly.
