Hi gents, I am in a state of confusion. I have too many watches and too many projects over the many many years of watch collecting... I can't recall what model this watch that I have is. I'd like to sell it but before I do so, can you help me identify it? I bought the custom caseback a year or two ago that was supposedly a match for the watch. Is it a Pre-A 009? The dial is a custom FGD dial that I had Zig relume with an aged Tritium-like lume. Crystal in non-AR Case is PVD and I recall it being a very early DSN PVD case from 5+ years ago Any help identifying the caseback etc is GREATLY appreciated!! Here are some pics:

Today it's my Patek Nautilus on OEM Patek strap

Well it finally arrived. I previously owned the MBW Nautilus in S/S a few years ago. It simply didn't get enough wristime so I moved it on. Since I've been on a Rosegold binge lately, I decided to pick up this RG Nautilus. Overall the watch is very well executed. My twp big gripes are the terribly soft lug bar screws and the stupidly soft lug bar pins. Shaving down the lugs to fit the OEM strap with a Dremel was not hard. It can't be done with a small file. You really need to use a Dremel. In my case, I used a thin cutoff disk to gently widdle away at the thickness of the lug insert until it fit into the OEM strap. Not hard, but patience is key. A little at a time, as they say. The big pain was getting the lug bar pins into the strap. Thye're quite soft and they bend easily. In order to fit, they need to remain perfectly straight--a veritable pain in the a** that took me a tedious couple of hours grrrrrr. Anyhow, patience won the game and I eventually got the whole thing together. The silly lug bar screws are useless and they strip very easily. I'm going to cut off the threads and glue the screw heads in place at some point. This is a nice watch. The finish is terrific. It NEEDS an OEM strap. The rep strap is garbage. The clasp is really well done, too. The dial is the usual Nautilus style meaning that it does change colors with the angle of the light hitting it. Pretty neat looking at it as it goes from from dark charcoal to different hues of brownish grey. The brushed versus shiny finishing on the watch is stunning, too.

I would love to see all of these!!!

Today is a gaudy day... To fill that roll, this golden beast with red accents and genuine Hornback with red stitching fits the job description perfectly.

Ohh that's terrible about the 16753! The last time I had my 1675 serviced by RSC BH was back in the early 2000s. They told me that that was the last time they'd service my watch without replacing my original dial and hands. Since then, my independent watchmaker serviced the watch every 4 yrs. Rolex has ZERO respect for their heritage & history. Now IWC Service on the other hand... 100% support for vintage watches!

Lovely! Out of curiosity, whilst installing an ETA 2846, what kind of movement holder is used if using an OEM case? Perhaps a silly question, but I thought I'd ask

I post very little in the Rolex subforum these days... Some photos of my circa '66 (give or take) unmolested original. I've had this watch for 20+ years. It's been all over the world with me numerous times. Yes, the small GMT hand is original to the watch. I am the 2nd owner, my grandfather bought this watch new and never had it serviced until I took possession of it. The small hand usage on a '65-'66 was due to Rolex finding caches of unused parts whilst cobbling up watches. Interesting anecdotes for the nutty & insane collectors like you reading these words! Bracelet isn't original to the watch. It came with a folded Jubilee which I still have (most comfortable bracelet I have ever owned).

It's getting very difficult to find one these days. The prices have really started to go up on them due to rarity. The "3H" dial versions are the most sought after (many of them have factory service replacement dials without the "3H" printed on the dials). The other issue is that there are very few parts caches left for servicing the beautiful Flyback Valjoux 230 If you want one, please buy one now because there are basically almost none left in the world. Today I'm wearing my '68 Breitling 816 Navitimer with Column Wheel Venus 178 mov't In the pic it is featured with a NOS Tropic strap that came with the watch when new from Breitling. Today though, I am wearing it with a genuine gator strap.
