These two are recent additions... I have been wanting an 806 since I was a kid. The dream has finally come true! The 806 is from '67 or so. I have a NOS lizard strap with 16mm 'double Breitling planes logo' buckle as well as the NOS Breitling buffalo grain strap in the pics. The 816 Navitimer is from '68 and has its original NOS Tropic strap from the factory. It also has the double Breitling planes logo' buckle as well. The case is the same case as the Chrono-Matic 1806/1809 series. It is large but quite thin and lightweight; consequently, very comfortable to wear. I almost bought an 1806 but I can't really can't get into Caliber 11 or 12 movements. They are boring in my book. Hence the reason why I have a love/hate relationship with the Heuer Autavia. The 816 has dial action with its running seconds. I like to know if my watches are alive or not ;-) Anyhow, I was going through all of my watches today, and I took a lotta pics. Just thought I'd share some vintage action on an otherwise 'newer' style forum section. PS. Excuse the Rolex pic in the Breitling forum

I took inventory today of my watch collection. During the process, I shot quite a few pics. Here are a couple of my dear sweet darlings (old veteran members will recall these two I am sure). Some details... Circa '65-'66 1675 with original small GMT hand (from the factory). Yes, it came this way from the factory. This prompted an interesting debate 15 or so years ago when folks started coming out of the woodwork with stories of Rolex finding caches of old parts in the mid-60s (and subsequently using them up despite being slightly outdated. Very 1960s Breitling-esque, I might add). Still have the original folded Jubilee bracelet as well. Mov't has been keeping chronometer time specs since it was born. Crazy accurate. Circa '67-'68 5513 with original Twinlock crown system intact and original T-19 Superdome. I have a NOS Twinlock tube, gasket & crown waiting around for servicing in a few years. I also have a Triplock system for it. I might just install the Triplock to avoid humidity issues in the future. 1520 mov't is also superbly accurate. I've got the original faded bezel insert stashed away that I, from time to time, slap on the watch. I also wear it on its original Oyster bracelet, too. I almost sold this watch a few months ago. Somehow I managed to regain my senses right before closing the deal. What the heck was I thinking!! What is fascinating about these movements is that they autowind to max. capacity extremely rapidly--more than any other auto-mech watch I've owned to date. I know that there are some vintage lovers around these parts!

Late to the party today (better late than never).

I actually just sold this one, but am wearing a replacement 806 right now that I have not had time to take pics of since it arrived this morning. The difference is that the one I just received has even patina color on the markers. The one in the pics here has a darker 30 minute subdial and some markers are more rusty colored than the others. The buffalo grain strap is NOS Brietling. I also have a NOS Breitling Navitimer black lizard strap with NOS 16mm Breitling buckle too.

I loved this rep! I had to sell it though since it was too big for my 6.85" wrist. The standard Blacksteel fits me perfectly. Enjoy the watch, it is very well executed!

A little (pun intended) 816 action!

Interesting thread, misery loves company ;-) I have a package sent via Registered Mail from Germany that cleared Customs on the 15th, then has "Arrived At Unit" in the Zip Code next to me on the 16th. No more activity. No package. What's in the package? A '64 Breitling 806. The third OEM Navitimer to me in the last month. First one arrived damaged from Argentina. I returned it. The second one had the 12hour register unresettable. So I returned that one back to the UK. And now I have a minty '64 806 stuck in nowhere-land. The Venus 178 gods are giving me the lightning bolt!

Nice to hear from you The watch is a 60s German Air Force watch equipped with a Valjoux 230 Flyback mov't. It's a large 43mm diameter size, very contemporary I think size wise. Cheers!

The Heuer is the epitome of "tool watch". The thing is waaaay overbuilt in ruggedness. The Speedy NATO is an old black one that I've had for a decade. It's thicker than the normal ones, and fits firmly but is soft. The faded color is from wear. I wish I knew where to find a thick NATO like this strap nowadays. All the ones I keep buying are thin, flimsy, too short, shiny... All wrong IMO. I heart my Speedy I wear it everyday. Cheers

Thanks guys! I'm an IWC nut ever since I owned an old cal.89 Ingenieur a long while back. Over the years, the reps have become outrageous in their attention to details. The MKXV in the pic is a franken with genuine dial & hands & crown. The 3717 is superlumed by Zig and has an ETA 7750 mov't + datewheels. I forgot to add my 5002 BP in the family pilots pic. And I also REGRET selling my Lello datewheel Ingenieur bigtime. The Heuer is a 60s German Air Force issued watch with a deadly accurate Valjoux 230 Flyback mov't. The watch is also big at 43mm diameter. The Bund strap is genuine issue and the Bund strap was actually created originally for this particular watch (interesting tidbit). Both the strap & the watch have Ordinance Issue serial numbers. Cheers
