Ridiculous post! Lost sense of reality, By-tor? So people who own gen watches and members of other forums are pretentious and double faced people? Is this here a communist board? To open your eyes: The knowledge and manner of discussion is compared to both forums not the same. On gen forums are e.g. crown position and shape of CG irrelevant! Instead you can learn other interesting things. So, if you are not immune to education, bind the knowledge of both forums and own the gen - THAT is the REAL knowledge! I start with RWG in the world of watches. But I am still here around, I share knowledge, I spend some of my time here and much more. And you came now across and slap me in the face, because I am maybe a member of a gen forum? Not with me, my friend...I can open my mouth. And BTW, I am not member of TRF. It's another forum...

- bezel on top needs the flat bevel, biggest giveaway - needs only one light break to spot it as fake from 2 meters:) - CG's need sharp edges from inside, everything is too round - case needs to be thinned, MBW cases are too fat That would be the things I would do...and plese some pics of the movement.
-
Nice build! It's my favorite Rolex model, BTW. Would only need some finetuning for my taste... Some pics of the movement possible? Thx Wear it in good health, Frank...

I think it's a SSD, assuming to the CG's...

Why sand? It's brushed!

What size drill bit (mm or inches) to drill the lugs?
Omega replied to GarrettP1's topic in The Rolex Area
Andy, I don't want to discuss anymore about it. I own several of gen vintage watches and every month also a lot go thru my hands for overhaul. Use the upper side of the drill and try to put it in the hole. If it works your holes are dead! -
Thanks Dizz. Hmm, I think the problem is not in the bevel. The heigh should be the same. If you look on some pics on google, you will see the outer diameter of the ring is on the 1500 movement smaller and it has a graduation. Problem is, the 1600 movement don't fits in the case, cause it's too big/wide...that's what will do Domi. He will thin the ring to correct dimension and make the graduation.

You have no big choices, everything has lugholes powered by the 3035. Try to sell it and buy a 3135 - and all doors are opened...

I had also a 3035 from a datejust. My plan was to build a nice 16800/0, but phong was asking 1600$ with custom serial and delivery to germany. Absolutely crazy...

What size drill bit (mm or inches) to drill the lugs?
Omega replied to GarrettP1's topic in The Rolex Area
We had a discussion here about it! I can guarantee, you can NOT push a 1,2mm drill into a gen lughole! I tested it a several times!!! So it is definitly smaller than 1,2mm! Don't ruin your case... But 1,2mm is OK, it's not visible. Lugholes drilled with 1,3mm you can spot easy (even with a nacked eye), because the springbar has not tide fitting! -
No problem, I contacted Domi. He can modify the ring on a lathe to fit in the yuki case...thanks again, Nick. Your answer was very helpful! Now I only have to know how the engravings are? I will put my or the birthday of my daughters as serial - so it is not too much relevant. But it would be interesting to know/see it... Some pics around?
-
Thank's Nick. That makes sense, now I understand. The gap outside the ring is missing on the 1600 1570. I think the ring could be changed...but where to source it?
-
Thank's for your try, Freddy. But nothing in your post brings me a step forward, sorry. I thought someone who had all cases thru his hands could help me with the details. We are talking about prices from 500$ up to 1250$ - that is a difference of 750$!!! So what details can make such a gap?

Hi, I know here are a lot of finished vintage Sub-projects, so there should be a lot of experience out there... I have all gen parts incl. the movement, bracelet, plexy, inlay etc. to complete the wach - except of the case! So can someone anwer me on two questions: 1. Where is the difference between Phong, Yuki and NDTrading? 2. Why Yuki says the date disc make trouble on 1600 movements? Domi told me there is no difference between 1570 from 1500 Datejust and 1570 on 1600 Datejust models!? To be honest, on Phongs site the quality of the case on the pic is terrible! The most good looking and clear finished shape is on Yukis case, sorry. Don't know how the engravings are... Also, if someone has a case set laying around so please let me know. I am very interested in buying it! It's urgent! Thank's in advance.

Hard to tell F, inlay is aftermarket, thats correct. But all other is gen to me. My 7928 is serviced in the '70 and not worn anymore. It's a service dial, and lollypop hour hand - but everything is gen - it's proofed. The endlinks fit terrible! And everything looks at first look rep (the whole watch). But it's really everything gen, and made by Rolex/Tudor on revision...

Watch is OK. I have the same from same year... Look at the crooked i and n on "original" on the caseback, that is only on gens from this period.
-
It's really accurate...unbelievable! Now only I have to build a custom holder with a good mic, and I have a mobile timegrapher...
-
I can only agree. I have a gen 16610 and a gen 16700. Bezel assambly is absolutely the same, including retaining ring and tension ring. Only difference is the click spring.

25-135 Jandkwatches on the bay has awesome plexy crystals, they fit 100%!

Will a 1680 or 5512 Case take a 16610 bezel Assembly?
Omega replied to Eiderdaus's topic in The Rolex Area
Because of the lugholes...like he mentioned in his post! No, it won't fit! You have to drill lugholes on a case, or just try to find a Eurotimez case with lugholes and gen bezel assembly... -
Like mentioned, a gen 1680 dial would not fit a MBW 5513 case. You can shave the dial down to fit, but the markers would look too short. Only solution (for perfect look) is to widen the rehaut on a lathe, and to make the case deeper (when looking from back on the case) into the rehaut (also on lathe). Because the rehaut on a gen is very thin! Then use a thicker spacer between dial and movement with higher cannon pinion on a 2846. That would make a perfect looking 1680 with a lot of effort, but still wrong engraving...

Hi F., nice to see you here around! I have also quit to be active in reps like before, but that's not a reason to quit this nice community with some great guys - and the reps are tempting me every time again! They get better and better, and the Frankenwatches closer and closer to the gens... Would be nice to met again, like in cologne! It was a great GTG... All the best, my friend!
