  1. My Man! That is what I am leaning towards. I mean, the Big case Chronos used a SD 16600 case base for the chronos, so why not an early chrono prototype using the existing 7032/7169 case set. It is Rolex practice to use remaining stock anyways.
  2. Love the builds n here today! Wow! Droptop, that is one awesome picture brother! Below my watch today Little something I put together. Entirely a fantasy build, but dammit I am liking it. Way smaller than the Mille Metri and Hornlug I have been wearing lately, but at 40mm plus crown and pushers, it is a nice size for every day.
  3. So this is what I have been trying to build (Justin I sent you a PM) It is basically a mid to late production DW 7032/0 case (stamping between the lugs, so it is definitely not one of the later units) a7750 movement with 6-9-12 layout I had laying around from a 3717. I think the black date disc works on this semi-fantasy build9420/0 Tudor dial and hands from Yuki. May switch to a different chrono sweep hand. Yes I know it looks off-centre, but I put this together quicklyWill swap the pushers from the DW units to later ones, either from ST or OfreiCrown will be an Athaya 700 crown and tube as for the money and this build it just makes sense. The 700 gen crown I had for this will just be too over the top and I could probably live with water resistance using the Athaya unit. The holes and the case profile will be worked onThe bezel I hope to change to a bakelite unit soon, as It just seems a better fit (at least for me) The current DW unit has been spiral brushed as per genI have no idea what model plexi I have on here now, but it fits and the bezel fits over it tightly and will know for sure about water resistance over the weekend when I test it. The case to my surprise does work with a 7750 movement. I love the 7031 Monte Carlo and miss my black dialed one, but with the advantage of self winding, one could live very well with something like this. The dial fits very well, no issues with the alignment, the movement stem alignment is perfect, so no need to hollow out the case. The case would be wrong for a 9420, mostly and more obviously because of the CGs, but I plan on modifying these as well. The case back needs slight trimming on the inside, or if I could find a slimmer weight, this would be a done deal. When I say slight trimming, I mean maybe .25-.30mm at full closure the rotor spins, when I add the final tighter twist for full water tightness, no more spin. Still looking for that elusive 93150 bracelet for another build, and possibly this one. Dirty iPhone pictures of the build thus far:
  4. Bambino build today. The baby is officially 17 months old today.
  5. No worries man. I figured it was something easy to fix. Next time
  6. The bracelet could work. WC and website definitely an interesting thing I wonder when they'll update. E
  7. As the title states, I have searched the interwebs for a few months now, maybe not correctly, for a Tudor Monte Carlo 9420 Plexi model number. I have managed to find a non cyclops plexi that fits, and I will rock the creation in the Fall like this until I find the correct unit. Yuki won't disclose information, or sell individual parts. Cannot find any source for parts other than the bezel, dial and hands. I also need the actual dimensions of the case back. Long story short, I was able to get a case that actually fits the 7750 quite well and will be working on some hybrid of the 9420 and earlier Monte Carlos. Thanks
  8. Pretty good base. I would love to see more details of the 93150. I may need to get the entire thing for a semi decent bracelet. Thanks for sharing.
  9. Will be working on making it a franken eventually and taking my time. First on the list is a better strap. Currently on an old 22mm Maratac I had laying around
  10. Looking good. If only they can get better strap options for these.
  11. I'm very excited about my Franken project
  12. I have a full date mechanism you can have R. Pm me if you need it.
  13. Personally, the Aviators by Ray ban or Wayfarers. I've had aviators since I was a little kid. I have been also wearing the Randolph Engineering Aviators with the straight legs and cannot beat them for the price. Definitely suit more face shapes and sizes. I like the wayfarers for driving as the thicker legs block most of the side glare. Good quality lens is key whichever brand you choose. I like glass lenses for driving and plastic ones at the beach.
  14. He does great work indeed. You can have the T added or just drop the lugs
  15. My predicament is different, I am actually looking for a donor MM for parts. My winding gear is missing and still need a stem
  16. Yes sir! I wanted to see what these cases were Iike, based on the price and engravings. The sapphire is legit, but definitely not 1:1 PAM.
  17. I have been looking for cases to keep my "project" oriented mind in check. On the bay I noticed a series of cases that looked promising. Ordered one with solid case back for $65 dollars shipped. The seller although listed as being in the US shipped from HK. Took 11 days to get home. I started working on it right away. I had a DSN newborn 202 dial laying around and some FG hands as well as a regulated 6497-1 Asian movement. A few rounds of the file to get the stock CG(that came with the case kit) to get the click to snap. Some Dremel time on the case to make it sit flush and overall not too bad. The case has good dimensions and needs some softening all around The bezel has a nice shape to it and even the "S" reflection that Ale has covered next door Could use a better CG and crystal as the crystal on it is obviously not 1:1 sapphire as advertised. 1:1 Sapphire would have a pinkish hue to it. The sold case back is not bad at all, and provides a good seal to the case I tested without too many mods to 4ATM and until I figure out if I am keeping or selling it, I won't test further. Pictures This shoulder needs a file and polish End result thus far. Slapped on a 26mm Accordion dive strap that I trimmed to 24mm because I like it like that. Not too bad. Still wonder if I should keep it. Overall, for the price of the case and having a few parts in the bin it is not a bad case to get it you are looking for a quick build, perhaps even a better that looks decent. Made a thicker crown gasket for the case. Now there is an assuring and definitely firm click. Not fingernail bending, but enough to ensure that the case is now passing the 5ATM pressure test. Re-profiling the lug shoulders and then will re-polish it. Overall the case has great potential for custom/fantasy as well as gen like builds. Case reshaping done. I like the overall look. Now to the polishing. Part of me wants to just brush the case and call it good and leave the bezel polished. We shall see. Not much to do to it really, but clean some of the corners and take a little off the edges.
  18. Parts in general would be nice also.
  19. The rep 3717 case is not bad at all, only issue is finding one.
