  1. Mine just arrived today, picked it up this evening. Last tracking update before today was on 9th of December. I'm 4 years in this hobby, and I think this is longest I have waited for a watch since it was sent. I waited for EoD from TTK for six months, but that's different story regards
  2. So, year ago, after looking for a while, I found good deal on ETA 7753 movement, bought it and started building 196. As anyone who tried that in the past probably knows, finding parts for such build is no easy task. Especially frustrating to me was the case. 7753 movements are thinner than modified A7750s used in previous generations of Daylights, and of course have date-set pusher - creating all kinds of problems regarding compatibility of the cases. In addition, all cases except maybe old-school EL cases (which I only saw on pictures, so I can't speak for sure), were full of flaws - quite poor quality, incorrect bezel height, smaller diameter of crystal, poorly executed CGs etc. And, then, like a gift from heaven, A7753 was made and new Daylights started appearing - with magnificent (at least compared to anything before) case. Good thing was that A7753 has same thickness and date quickset position as ETA - so these cases are fully compatible with ETA 7753 Inserting ETA movement stack in A7753 was completely straightforward, just plug-and-play. Before moving to pictures, just few observations about A7753 dials and DWs. As I had to buy complete watch for this (cases were still not freely available at the time I was building this), I did, just out of curiosity, disassemble A7753 movement stack. First thing - A7753 dial is mostly identical to A7750 dials from previous Daylight versions. I had one old 7750 dial laying around, and I couldn't find any difference in measures. You can use them interchangeably on both movements, date cutout position is identical. Second thing - 7750 DWs can be fit on A7753 movement, inner diameter of A7753 DWs and tooth position is identical to 7750. Outer diameter of DW is smaller on 7750 versions, since A7753 have "widened" DWs, but I guess that this would not pose any problem reliability-wise. Here are few shots to show you how it looks like (7750 DW on A7753 movement): Now, without further boring you with details, let's see how it turned out (I included in few pictures regular A7753 250): Some lume comparison - 196 dial was relumed by The Zigmeister, 250 dial with rep lume: regards
  3. Took this beauty for a walk yesterday on a sunny winter day ...
  4. Just to add, from my experience - this part from hi-beat and low-beat asian movements is NOT interchangeable. I would guess that hi-beat is compatible with ETA part, because part from low-beat movements looks a bit different. So, for starters, @Marcelo, you should check do you have hi-beat movement. regards
  5. All you guys receiving watches in less than a month go and open your own thread - don't rub any more salt in our wounds I'm so tired of refreshing tracking page, that last few days I do it twice a day - I guess that is good sign isn't it :Jumpy: regards
  6. One month and 3 days since last update of tracking: 2010-12-09 01:33:00 GUANGZHOU Despatch from Sorting Center Hopefully it will leave China before CNY ... regards
  7. Yipii! Already started to worry :thumbsupsmileyanim:
  8. Doing some research on TZ, I came up with this post: Link Officially, forged cases are 0.6 mm thicker than regular ones, and I presume there is reason for it. There are even some posts from people claiming they did measurements by calipers and came up with 1mm difference. regards
  9. Rubber clad for New years eve. Happy New Year all RWG-ers !
  10. Thanks, I hope you will get yours soon! Better start wearing some smaller watches to get used to it, this thing is tiny compared to 44/47 mm PAMs Once I receive Yuki hands, I'll see what to do with dial - I guess I'll have to at least relume it with some vintage color lume, so to match Yuki hands. regards
  11. Thanks, your posts about your 7032 were very informative, definitely very helpful during my build. You are right about shield, now that you mentioned it I also spotted it - it's crooked, just a little bit, but not completely straight ... so, how did you fix it ? Does it have to be removed from dial, and then reattached or it can be just slightly pushed to right position ? I just received nice new MC style NATO from Timefactors, I think it will do until my bracelet arrives from Mary (it seems delays in shipments from China are quite dramatic lately) regards
  12. Thanks everyone for suggestions and answers! I assembled watch few days ago, with parts that I had. Roulette datewheel doesn't bother me that much, so I guess it'll stay for a while. I ordered 7836 bracelet from Mary (I hope it has 358 endlinks, like one that burnz used) - and if it's the same bracelet as one from J&A, I guess I have bracelet problem solved DW crown doesn't look that bad for start, dial is great, I brushed the bezel, and ordered set of hands from Yuki. Only thing that currently bugs me is crystal, I haven't managed to source T128 yet (for a reasonable price, that is - I'm not paying ~US$300 for piece of plastic), but I'll try to pull some connections that I have in next few weeks. One thing that I noticed on DWs set is problem with small hands - in my set both small hands have 0.30 tubes, and 7734 movement have small seconds post 0.20, and chrono minutes 0.30 - so, small seconds hand is unusable without tube transplant, or some gluing. Like you can see on pictures, I used replacement hand for small seconds (from 7750 movement), until I decide what to do with it. Sine this thread is probably worthless without pics - here are some: Merry Christmas everyone !
  13. My "Hybrid" 196 for sunny Tuesday ...

  15. Some U-BOOT-STAHL on my wrist for snowy sub-zero day:
  16. It would accept gen and ETA day/date wheels, gen hands no. regards
  17. So, most of ingredients already on my desk: Preparing to start working on it, some questions poped up - and since I'm quite newb for all Rolex/Tudor topics, I need some help from experts 1. Any idea where to get regular black-on-white date wheel ? I got alternating red-black numbers on movement I bought 2. What rep bracelet would fit this case, where to get it ? I tried regular rep modern sub bracelet, and I could fit it with some spring bar bending, but it doesn't look very good. Any suggestion is welcomed. 3. Crown - does it make sense to get gen crown for this, what gen crown is correct for 7032 ? In case I get gen crown, do I need to replace tube also ? regards
  18. Is this it - experts please chime in ... regards
