  1. Nice photos and beautiful straps V. Thanks for the effort! BTW, I know how you feel with the internet problems. Whilst posting my last two reviews, RWG has gone down. Very frustrating when you've spent a good bit of time formating type and pics so they're just right, then when you his "submit" nothing happens. grrrrrrrrrr
  2. My guess would be that the initial run of chrono avengers in black were the ones that resemble our rep dials. My reasons for thinking this? The watch in my initial post has the old style bracelet (again, like our reps), and the fact that the original Breitling photo shows this same dial. I have yet to see this 8 on any of the other color variations.
  3. I use an extremely light weight sand paper. It takes out the scuffs in seconds. Then a quick going over with a cape cod cloth (just enough to even out the finish) and my bracelets look like new. For polished bracelets I use brass/silver polish with my dremel polishing wheel. I have taken a bracelet with several years of daily wear back to "brand new" condition in less than an hour with this method.
  4. I've got no problems with the slow beat 7750. I've got a couple of them and have no problems at all. The 1st version 21k was apparently junk, but the 2nd version seems to be just as reliable as the 28k in my opinion.
  5. @cskent69 - I could tell that yours was a 1st gen rep by the short second hand. also, note the shape of the CGs at the back of the watch. Yours is more "rounded", nothing like the gen. My 2nd generation rep seems to be more accurate in this area. Genuine back As for the 8 on the dial, the less cut off version is what appears in the 2006 catalogue, so I have no doubt that there is indeed a second variation of the dial. My guess is that this variation is from the first editions of this watch.
  6. One thing your image does show cskent69 is how different the crown gaurds look on the rep. The gen is muck more rounded than the square cut rep. Thanks for sharing that.
  7. More valuable than your beautiful watch are the lessons learned along the way. I love stories like this. Congrats!
  8. I agree. So it seems that we have evidence that the 8 and 10 on our reps is actually correct!
  9. In my Chrono Avenger Primer I pointed out that an easy way to tell the difference between a gen & rep dial was to look at the 8. If most of the top of the 8 is missing its Gen, and if most of the top of the 8 is there, its a rep. I did note that the catalogue picture of the black dial version did seem to have an 8 like our reps, but that I hadn't seen an actual example of it.... Until now. Below are two CAs currently on ebay. Note the the differences in the 8. Everything else seems to be pretty good, but Im not 100% convinced this is not a rep. Here is what the typical gen dial looks like... And here is the suspect watch. Also note the difference in the pearl. AR looks good however Serial is different from my 2nd gen, not sure if the 1st gen uses the same numbers. Crown looks good as well So, do you guys think this is a well modded rep, or an early version that makes our reps look better than we thought?
  10. I see PureTime is now offering a "Lite" version of the Big Bang. Only difference is it comes with the 21k 7750, and no AR on the crystal. At under $300 this may make sense for a lot of people. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=48986
  11. Great pic Pug. I happened to be wearing mine when I looked at it Great watch, and a "must have" for any collection!

Well I don't think that would make a difference. I unscrew it to wind, then leave it like that until I wear it again. So I only screw/unscrew once per wear, which I would have to do anyway, assuming it sat for more than 2 days. BTW, the orange one still screws down fine, just seems to unscrew a lot quicker than it used to. Its like 5 turns to tighten, and one or two to release. I seem to remember my black doing something like that before it went.
  13. Well, my collection right now consists of Navitimer Chrono Avenger Pam 192 Mini Fiddy Orange UPO Lite Black UPO Lite Vintage Milgaus TT DateJust. There are only a couple of watches that I'm eying right now (SFSO, EVO, Ferrari Chrono), but I am really interested in a Montblanc Timewalker Chrono.

Thanks for the review! As far as I am concerned the weakness of this watch is in the crown/Tube assembly. If like me you are constantly unscrewing it to wind the watch, it won't last. The threads are weak, and strip very easily. My black one striped in a matter of days, and my orange one has started feeling a little funny as well.
  15. Awesome watch and great pics. Your son will have something very special one day!
  16. Mine seems a little greener as well. Possibly the pearl crystal has a little tint to it?
  17. Wore this one golfing this morning And this when I got home
  18. I agree, this is not very responsible behavior. I have no problem with you wearing an almost perfect rep like the SFSO to an AD. But to take it off your wrist and handing it over is just plain stupidity.
  19. Today it was BCA on leather Tonight, Navi on SS
