  2. So many issues with this update. Is tapatalk publically traded? If so I would like to short the stock. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. Thanks cc. I think at some point I will slap a T38 on it, but for now, the 116 is acceptable. I had no idea the 1575 movements have no quick-set date function!. it's alot of crown turning if you need to change date from 1 to 31!

  8. Hey! That looks familiar! Since you and I first met when I worked on your 5513, you have been nothing but patient and understanding. With any high end project that starts from the ground up, things just don't go smoothly. Something always comes up that further delays the project. While frustrating, overcoming these challenges/obstacles is an opportunity to learn something new. An example was my need to experiment with no less that 40 mixtures of substances to come up with the appropriate texture and color of the no-glow lume to match that of the dial. Not an easy task. For anyone considering builds like this, you should be prepared that there will be hiccups, and your budget for the build may increase beyond what you might think is reasonable. Hopefully in the end, it's worth it. So leave a buffer. It has been a pleasure working with you and I consider you a dear friend. Wear her in good health. We expect a nice wrist shot at the SeaHawks season opener!
  9. hey.. i just want that 1065 movement...
  10. ^^ love how the 7206 clasp is peeking up at the back. Great composition/lighting A!
  11. While you're here Q5, Do you feel SSteel's ban/suspension is still warranted? If so, why? If not, when will it be lifted?
  12. Wow!. congrats!
  13. Looks pretty good to me [emoji6]. I hope it's met your expectations.
  14. After the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, I can't look at Hublot's the same way.
  15. Now you're just showing off! Great stuff M!
  16. The other projects i have lined up will keep me occupied for quite some time.. perhaps things will change in 6-8 months, and if they do, I'll let you know. For high-end builds, I may still consider the work if its challenging, but the wait time will be significantly longer than one might reasonably be expected to wait.
  17. As some of you might be aware, I occasionally take on requests from members for modification services ranging from luming a rep dial to complete high-end big crown builds. The most popular request these days seems to be lughole drilling and/or bevel/chamfer cutting on mid cases. While i enjoy these tasks, some circumstances have arisen that forces me to hold off on accepting any more projects for members.. I still have a couple of items to clear up that have been in the cue for a couple of months (for a few members and myself), but thereafter, I will not be able to devote the time that is required to achieve the quality that I expect of my work. I apologize to any of you that have recently inquired about services. There are several lads that I can happily recommend that do tremendous work that include (in no specific order): misikped, jmb, ssteel, mymanmatt, stonep, ... Thanks Y
  18. Here's a preview before it gets packed up for the westcoast. (7206 not included [emoji6])
  19. Ok. Well I guess I'm a bit late to the crystal party! Sorry, I can't give back your 5 mins
  20. When it comes to sourcing NOS vintage tropic superdomes for subs/sea dwellers, the toughest ones to find are the T19, T17, and the T39 (in that order). There are the occasional posts in VRF and on eBay that claim that the crystal for sale is genuine. With so many good aftermarket crystals, how can you tell its gen or not? Even the so-called "experts" are fooled routinely. Well, as I worked on a big crown build for lionsandtigers, I discovered something that might be helpful. As you may already know, the crystals are/were made in layers... Some of the cheap rep crystals are made in a single layer. Occasionally, you can see the concentric rings under the base of the sidewalls. But this can be difficult to see. But if you hold the crystal with the sunlight hitting it at an oblique angle, it's possible to see the layers as such: This in and of itself may not be a tell that it's genuine. If there are no rings, then I would avoid it for sure. But some reps, like the CWP T19, also show these rings. So what I discovered yesterday was that all gen superdomes distort around the outer areas that stretches outward. Looking at text while holding the lens can display the distortion I'm talking about like this (in this case a gen T17): But I tested this with a few rep superdomes I had lying around. The result was completely different. While the dome profile may be perfect, the distortion is way off on the edges. Text seems to curl around in a toroidal fashion creating two assymetric rings of text on either side of the crystal. Here's a T19 from Michael a Young at CWP, arguably the most popular aftermarket tropic superdome: Note how the text goes circular on either side; something that does not occur on gen superdomes. I tried this with a known gen T19 and T39 superdomes with similar results. While this may not definitive, the absence of the visible acrylic layers and/or presence of circular text distortion are probably signs that you just bought a fake crystal that's worth no more than $20.
