  1. Are the hour hands flat or curved? Sweep hand looks very good
  2. Ok thank you. I've emailed Watchlume but no response yet. I will give watchbitz a try.
  3. You have to email Ryan with the order number. Then you can pay via PP.
  4. You have to apply more pressure than you think. And evenly. But that would work. Not sure how much it would help to heat it. There's a tiny lip on the inside of the top of the bezel that holds the insert in place. Not sure if that portion would expand toward the middle of the bezel as its heated or not. If it does than the grip on the insert will tighten.
  5. I recall reading somewhere that Rolex uses a die that pokes the insert up through the holes at the bottom of the bezel. But I cannot confirm. It would make sense though
  6. I've separated a gen 116610 insert from the bezel successfully. I had some special dies fabricated for it. I could do it for you (assuming of course its the same size as the SubC). Alternatively, I have read that a very thin screwdriver tapped under the insert might also work, but if you ask me, that is a recipe for disaster. The insert is pressure fit, like the "old" steel inserts.
  7. Anyone know where I can buy some Tritec BG-W9 lume? CONUS is preferred.
  8. I think your research has already taught you alot about movements. However, this hobby makes no economic sense at times. I say go for it and enjoy the ups and downs of this project. Anyone can go to an AD and buy a gen. The next question is, in what case would you be putting the finished cal 3135? TC? ST?
  9. Great job. Very well planned and executed. Congrats
  10. Odd.. I tried a gen gasket on the BP and it was not wide enough (outside diameter) for the BP bezel assembly.. Had to re-use the gasket it came with.
  11. Do you know if the J12 will accept a gen crystal gasket? I know in the BP (for example), the crystal gasket is a bit thicker, hence the retaining ring is a bit wider. As a result, on cannot use gen crystal gasket. Is that the case with the Noob and the J12?. That is, will the existing bezel assemly accept a gen crystal/gen crystal gasket?
  12. Which has the better bezel insert and bracelet?
  13. Thank you for this. Surprised there are slight variances in widths
  14. Yeah. Definitely a rep. I could take calipers and take pics of my gen bracelet for you on Monday if you still need corroborating evidence.
  15. Thanks O. It was raining today. Good day to wear a sub! I tell you, a gen T19 superdome was not easy to find. Pricey if you can find one, but worth every penny. This one is a keeper for sure.
  16. c'mon.. I think some red and blue Testor's would be ideal for a $9.5K piece of circular plastic.
  17. Hobbies in general don't make economic sense. Factoring in your own labour, restoring vintage cars or building genensteins will rarely fetch the time/money put into a project. Just comes down to the pursuit of perfection which is directly correlated to your level of OCD; which tends to increase over time.
  18. Looks in that pic that "COMEX" has different texture/colour than the surrounding dial. Anyhow.. Never had the privilege of seeing a gen Comex dial in the flesh. One day i will have the spare $100k to confirm! but I have yet to see non-raised Comex letters on a Rolex dial.
  19. Are you sure? I thought the Comex text was printed on top of the white printed rectangle. I could be wrong.
  20. If you are stuck on doing it yourself, I would get a TC 2824 from Thomas along with his KH dial and hands. Keep your Swiss 2824 in a drawer for now. Because I prefer lugholes, I'd get a sterile 3135 sub case from Startime. I believe the bezel is included, which is excellent. Gen 25-295 crystal, gasket, insert. If all goes well you have a great sub. Expand the lugholes to 1.25mm so you can use gen 2mm spring bars. Once complete, then you can contemplate using your eta 2824 and using the H4 pinion from the TC movement along with the included movement ring. Whatever you decide, good luck and have fun. Failure is the only way you learn.
  21. Other Yuki cases are fine...still needs some reshaping, but the 16610 case in particular is horrid
