  1. As always, thanks for the advice guys. I have ordered a few bits before from redrooster uk, great seller! What I am doing with my tools is buying mainly the cheaper (Anchor) brand and upgrading them bit by bit to Bergeon, so far I have got the Bergeon movement holder and screwdrivers. So I guess it makes sense to do the same with the lubes, I will probably go for the Moebius 9010 first and take it from there. Just completed a strip down, service on a Seiko 7009A automatic, it sure was a challenge after the 6497! But it's back together and a euphoria moment seeing it come to life again Going to have a go at a re-lume on the Seiko dial not Cheers.
  2. I'm about to invest in lubes for servicing & the Moebius lubes seem to be to industry standard. Any others worth considering? and any links to cheap suppliers? I understand to get started I need 3 types of oil and 1 grease (can't remember the number/names at present) Cheers.
  3. The date window is squared on the rep where the gen has slightly rounded corners. Apart from that and the date font, looks lovely. I can feel my purse strings loosening
  4. Dont worry about oiling and servicing until the watch either loses or gains unacceptable amounts of time or it stops working. Before setting the date, adjust the time to 6:30 and then set the date and once the date is set adjust to the correct time....simple Also, do not press the chrono reset button if the chrono is running. Start, stop, reset in that order. Enjoy, it's a cracking watch
  5. That's his website, for sure to be sure!! If you try any other be prepared to get scammed.
  6. $260 for that, I would bite his arm off for that! That's a great looking watch at a great price. If you want better than that go grab a gen for a few thousand. Or, grab that and try and get a gen dial, job done Don't beat yourself up over markers that are few hundredth's of a mm out.
  7. I have the H factory version, unless you look at the back it's a perfect rep. Enjoy!
  8. Has this got the Asian 7750 movement in? If so make sure you are aware of the date setting procedure on this movement. Nice one, I have one of the old SEL that came before the link, lovely watches. Enjoy and come back with a wrist shot!
  9. Yea MD, I am doing a Horology course. Really enjoying it, working on a Seiko 7009 auto movement at the moment. These chrono movements are a long way off but no harm in having a little look now That's exactly what I say to them if they call it a fake...It's a real watch!
  10. Still not auto winding unfortunately, I am going to remove the rotor and clean and grease. and remove the winding bridge to have a look underneath. It go's absolutely fine with a hand wind? I am back in class tomorrow so will take it along for one of the experts to have a look, they have been quite taken back with the quality of my 'fakes' as they call them Thanks for asking guys
  11. Can't find any reference to this being posted before. http://www.eta.ch/index.php?id=161&L=2 Dissasembly, reassembly, oiling guide etc for the popular Swiss movements, which are very similar to our Asian clones I'm off to tear down my 7750
  12. Holy necro post batman!!
  13. Fair do's fella, that is an almighty f*ck up from the seller. Good luck, I hope you get it.
  14. Hold on...at the moment as far as you know the watch is still on it's way to you? When you looked at the tracking number you see it is declared as a Tag Heuer, I have never had any details of the package revealed from a tracking number? It has happened to you twice before so your address is probably already marked. The second time it happened to you you were asked to pay £20 of the value of the watch...which was a fake? So they let you keep a fake as long as you gave them £20? It's been 8 days since postage. Where is it coming from and what type of shipping has been used? Sorry but this is all a little confusing and being the skeptic I am....fishy!
  15. Stunning that, in fact inspirational! I will be doing a few of these mods myself over the coming year, I have the gen incabloc top shock that is ready to go in. I will no doubt bugging you for some guidance along the way if that's ok? Thanks you very much for showing us...lovely!!
  16. I was just sitting here thinking...that 89 in a aged bronze case, subtle metallic black with bright bronze patches at the wear points. A classic, modern watch with a medieval presence. Am I going mad? I have the 177 titanium that is a very good rep.
  17. I started a few weeks ago and started on a 6497 hand wind, I am now on a Seiko 7009A automatic. The 6497 is a perfect starter to get your confidence up and get a feel for your tools. Nice set of tools, they will become all consuming soon
  18. Lovely stuff, I look forward to hearing from you. I went into a Tag Heuer AD last Saturday and tried on the gen of this and the new version with the new movement and ceramic bezel, the new one has a lovely in house movement & loses the day feature, it's a fair bit more expensive too. The gen of this one is almost as good as our rep's You're welcome Just to add, if you do give it a go make sure you let the lube dry completely then give it a buff with a old cloth and then move on to final polish with a clean cloth
  19. Sorry MB, I haven't a clue? I will ask in class next week as it seems a bit strange to do it that way Infact I have never seen Roman Numeral's depict a 4 like that?
  20. Cheers fella It was the start pusher and mine are the same, start pusher can be rotated, reset pusher can't (couldn't make out why?). Unfortunately there is no threads in there. It looks like a tube has been pressed into the case and the pusher just slides through that. Depending on the diameter of the gen pusher at the threads it may be possible to drill/tap the pusher tube to accept the gens but if it goes wrong your case is finished. Where was the o-ring on your crown? was it inside the crown/winding stem tube. I might of missed it as it seems a bit strange to put 2 o-rings on the pusher and none on the crown? Soon as I'm ready for a upgrade I will give you a shout...Cheers
  21. Working fine for me.
  22. The Dry Wax Lube stops bracelets from having the tinny rattling noise, making them silky smooth and more gen like. It will also reduce wear in the long run. It's a cheap and effective treatment. It doesn't have to be TF2, any dry wax lube from your local cycle shop will do
  23. After seeing SSTEEL's recent acquisition and subsequent gen modifications of this Tag I just had to have one I got in touch with Josh and the deal was done, QC pics arrived promptly and approved, a few day later it arrived...super quick! All the hands on the QC pic's zeroed ok. So I started the chrono, waited and then done a reset. We have a problem... No worries, I am currently doing a Horology course so resetting the chrono seconds hand easy & good practice I had to resize the bracelet, I don't have a pin device yet so cut a suitable size needle in half and drilled a small hole in a piece of boxwood. Turned the bracelet on it's side and tapped out the first pin, it slipped out no problems. I had to remove 3 links in total. The pins went back in easy enough and from there I treated the bracelet including end links and spring bars to a bath of Dry Wax Lube. Gave it a good wiggle and soak and then took the parts out and put them on the radiator to dry. Next it was time to remove the case back, winding stem and movement clamps. No problems there Then...One of the chrono pushers fell out! Under a loupe I could see the other pusher was held in by a tiny circlip. when I looked at the pusher that had came out the circlip was still present but the groove in the pusher pin was too deep and the cir clip had been closed up too much allowing it to pass through the case. Incase anyone is interested there are 2 O rings on the pushers, a good sign until I found none on the Crown? Anyway I had to remove this circlip and open it up a touch. Heres what kind of size we are talking about. Now I actually dropped this circlip not once, but twice on the floor, how I found it was a miracle. To open it up I slid it over the top of a suitable size needle and gently tapped it down the needle shaft until it opened slightly Then I lost it again...and found it :D Sorted, phew that was a tricky one! Next I removed and reset the the chrono seconds hand and begun putting it back together. I cleaned and regreased the case back gasket. Job done and sitting proudly on my skinny wrist I will probably try and get a gen dial and hands for this as SSteel done with his, it's a cracking watch!
  24. Sure I read somewhere someone done it with the tip of a screwdriver that had been heated up.
