Reps that are waterproofed adequately for diving?
ceejay replied to darkdashing's topic in General Discussion
I recently done a 42mm Ceramic Planet Ocean to 10bar & a BK Submariner Ceramic to 10bar and a Tag Heuer Carrera to 3bar. -
He's selling 2 the same. Just lining up for a big hit and run! Only e-bay will take him down and they are [censored] at listening to educated people. We all suffer in the end when the ebay/paypal fee's go up again

He he...I wish! Heh MD, I am a bit new to all this testing equipment to be giving out advice but I will say, it certainly feels and operates up there with quality equipment. It does negative & positive pressure tests, and has predefined tests and manual if required. Various die sizes to suit case backs and it's just a shut the door and off it goes. The door opens like a Sci-Fi movie scene when it's finished...Pshhhhhh....door opening You have to bear in mind the price of the required compressor in addition to the machine Lovely stuff!

Cheers, It belongs to the Horology club where I am doing my training. They have some nice bits there and have just received funding from a multi million pound benficiary fund to invest in new equipment. So we are all getting new Bergeon bench vices, a new automatic cleaning machine amongst many other goodies I hope to commence the formal Horology qualification in September, so the future looks bright Cheers.

I swim almost everyday, pools, rivers, sea. I like to keep a check on my swim times so gave my recent aquisitions a test last night to make sure they are ok in the water. Heres the 42mm Planet Ocean Ceramic, 10bar no probs I also done my BK Ceramic Sub...10bar ok Tag Carrera Calibre 16 3bar ok. I was worried about the Tag as I have had it apart and couldn't find a o-ring in the crown, must be there somewhere though as 3 bar's ok. Pleased with them results
-
Also 7753 has date set at 10, not by the crown so setting the date will be tricky?
-
A7750 seconds are at 9, so no mod necessary.
-
Great that people are feeling the love for these Tag's! Lovely watches. I know it's all personal but that watch would look alot better on a nice leather strap with a Tag deployment clasp. In my opinion of course:D Enjoy your watch, it's a cracker.
-
I bought this from another forum member. so dont know who supplied it. As for the sweep, it's a gen ETA 2836-2 movement beating at 28,000 so it's as good as it gets

Quickie from this morning, sitting on my skinny 6 1/2" wrist Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I received one of these today with the Swiss movement. Lovely, lovely watch. If you like the look of it wait till you have it, it oozes class! There was a for sale advert a couple of days back of a member selling a super Franken version of this watch, apparently most of the parts are interchangeable. Just the crown & HE valves/tubes need minor mods. Just what I read.

No, the chrono hand is not exactly lined up with the 12 o'clock marker, but you are looking at a highly magnified photo. If that was on your wrist 2 feet away you would not notice it. The details pointed out here are minute and would not bother 99% of rep buyers. Like it is always pointed out "if you want perfection buy a gen" or keep asking for replacement watches until you are happy...not us
-
Seconds are at 9 oclock, centre hand is chrono seconds. I see Angus is putting his new machines to use. Is that picture of the pressure test actually telling us something?
-
As a rep, it look just fine. Inacuracies.... the subdials look wrong on the rep with them small rings running around them, and dont turn the watch around to show anyone the back as the blue screws are a dead give away! Nice watch though

Sunny Sunday wristies........................

BK knows how to keep cool on a sunny day -
I'm not buyng a fake, replica etc I am buying a watch. It is the beginning of a personal project/hobby to improve, learn and enjoy my hobby. I never pass my watches off as gen, I explain to people that express interest in my watches why I do it and they walk away with a little useful knowledge and a great deal more respect than any one that pretends their watch is gen. As for "can I afford a gen" up to a point yes, that point being around 3-4 months of of no 'hobby' spending and no visits to the pub/restaurant. Then a Omega/Submariner/Panerai would be within reach. But I much prefer to go out and enjoy myself and have a very interesting hobby making my watches better

"updated" Don Ramon de la Cruz offered by Puretime
ceejay replied to Legend's topic in The Audemars Piguet Area
Beautiful watches, I could never carry one off but great eye candy. Thanks guys you have class! -
Any idea why it died. I ask because if it's a part that can be replaced, some of the gen ETA parts fit and they are available.

There is already a thread discussing this.

Which grade of steel wool for repolish tc bracelet
ceejay replied to Erict719's topic in The Rolex Area
I use a abrasive cloth called micromesh, you can pick up a selection pack on ebay that has grits from 1500 through to 12000. Brilliant stuff that can be used with water or oil. Lasts ages. -
Placed an order with him today too, just sit back and wait for the goodies Mine was not a watch, so looking forward to my first non watch rep.
-
Great stuff, so a easy tell of a rep is a rotating pusher unless you get them gens in there I am following your other posts, excellent work on the case strip down. Good luck with your next stage of modding.
-
Ahhh....so that explains it, thanks for the detective work and great photos as always. Out of interest, can the gen pushers rotate like the reset pusher on the rep? My auto wind is still not working, I have had a good look and it appears that something is slipping under pressure down by the barrel. It's way too deep in the movement for me to attempt so I am debating whether to send it off for repair and service vs getting a gen movement, a gen eta movement or just hand winding until it gives up and sort out the problem then. Had it on the timegrapher tonight and it's running really sweet, with a good 2 days power reserve. I'm really tempted to leave it be as I have worn it exclusively since I got it and its my fave watch now

Black Dial Stainless Steel Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph 43mm
ceejay replied to SSTEEL's topic in The Tag Heuer Area
I was outside the TAG AD yesterday and had mine on my wrist, I was comparing to the gen in the window, with the distance between the glass and the gen I really couldn't see much difference. All that was in it was just a certain 'look' about the gen, it had a clarity about it through the crystal that made the difference in textures and finishes stand out a little more. Very close. I think if you can get a gen crystal on it then it will be the icing on the cake! Keep us updated P.S. I done the first little mod on mine, I removed all the obvious blue screws in the 7750 and polished them, it's a start
