  1. Love this watch and good luck with your build, keep us updated please!
  2. Ive been shaving with straight's for quite a few years now. My preferred razors are Vintage Spanish Filarmonica's, excellent shavers but the price they command now is ridiculous. I have a few 180-200 year old Sheffield razors plus quite a few others. Then there's all the shaving brushes, creams, after shave balms, colognes etc, etc, etc!! Yep it's a big money pit too
  3. The rotor does look like it's engraved rather than a decal, are they engraving this on the reps now? But the chewed up screws on the case back suggest rep along with no papers and 0 feedback...I call fake too!
  4. Just as a litte side note to this thread, my father has worked for a valuers & auctioneers company for many years that sell off the assets of companies that go into administration. A few years ago they were asked to sell 3 Rolex's that belonged to a famous underworld gangster. All 3 watches were custom made one off's. When my fathers company aproached Rolex to authenticate them they refused based on who they once belonged to. My fathers company had to take Rolex to court before they would authenticate them, which they did in the end. Before they were authenticated one was offered to my father at a 'knock down' price but as they were all very 'blingey' he passed. I have no idea what models they were but they were of the Gold/Diamond variety.
  5. Oh my, look at that date window! QC wasn't too hot on that one
  6. Seller has disabled messaging now, well for me at least? If they have it speaks volumes.
  7. No, never did get the Navi. But I was pretty new to the forum and now the forum has opened a massive can of worms for me and a Navi is pretty far down my list of must haves If a better rep of the current ones does emerge I will be on it! Cheers
  8. Hey Relaxman, I like the look of your Montblonc pen, is it a rep and is it a ballpoint or fountain? I am into my fountain pens and have a couple of original Montblancs but could always do with another. Anyway...nice:)
  9. Have you tried this fella http://watchguy.co.uk His in the UK and will do rep's. I have exchanged e-mails with him and his a jolly nice fella
  10. I don't need it but a very generous & thoughtful offer!
  11. Is it my eyes or is there a bigger gap between the crown & crown guard on the rep?
  12. I'm in for VIP, thanks for a great forum!
  13. I got one of these a few weeks ago from Josh, stunning watch it is. On the leather strap it is classy without being flash.
  14. Spot on! I have a Pam177 that I am going to do Francisco's mod on. Hopefully including a strip, clean and lube.
  15. Close...it's a 6497 so you have guessed the assembly, whats the project? If I did that it would certainly double the value of a timex
  16. I was asked if there is a project I would like to work on while I am learning, here's a little clue to what I have chosen. Anyone guess what my chosen project is from the photo?
  17. Great review, many thanks! How are you getting on with the watch? I have it on my hit list from either PC or TT. Cheers
  18. Thanks for the words of encouragement, I am under no illusion that it will be a quick "done the course send me your watches". I am doing this mainly because I have always had hobbies and this will be just that. I just want the skills and knowledge to be able to sevice and repair my own watches and if theres time then a few others. To answer a couple of other questions...MD2020, the club is on the outskirts of london just into Essex and is affiliated with the British Horology Institute, it doesn't have a sponser as such but has support from companies in the UK such as Cousins, Glaxo Smithkline & Thornton Successors who have all donated machinery and equipment and they offer discounts on materials to club members. The club seems well eqiped with several different lathes & milling machines & a pantograph engraving machine, machanical piercing saw etc. The club also has an extensive library:) I will update you as I go along, but I relish going back to schol at the age of 45! Cheers
  19. I have been on the waiting list to join a Horologist club that runs Horology courses and yesterday I was informed that there is a space available. I have naturally jumped at the opportunity and will begin next Tuesday for an initial year of training. Hopefully in the future I will be able to offer a UK based service to our members and service and repair my own watches of course! Really looking forward to it:)
  20. I have a Panarai that needs modding. I tutorial would be great (with pictures!) Many thanks and well done!
  21. I am getting lots of strange characters appearing in the text of some posts, example: Thanks T. <br /><br />Tapatalk posts aren't doubled up and are going through instantly now.<br /><br />However the markup tags are still there as you can see...<br /><br /><br />Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Is this just a problem from the members using tapatalk? Using Safari 6.0.3 here.
