I took my new (Joshua) Pam177 into a little watch repair shop last week. They had one of those little glass dome machines, 30 seconds later it failed. The guy tried it again on another setting? And it failed again.
The watch looks perfect and everything is tight but it failed. I don't know how reliable those little machines are but until I can get it serviced and greased up it won't be going near water.
That's a lovely looking watch and as you say "flying under the radar" I think it mixes classic looks with some contemporary styling.
Whats the diameter of that little cracker?
Thanks for showing us.
To me it looks like the bezel is 1 click to the left and the watch has been photographed slightly to the right giving the impression the dial is out.
I would ask for another photo with the bezel lined up correctly.
If you put a straight edge through the 9 & 3 markers they line up with the centre of the crown IMO.
With regard to the comment on the bracelet engraving... 1st post fail
Dont know if it's a feature of this model but it doesn't have the inner pin on the crown retention arm, should be able to see it between the crown & crown guard?
What a fantastic bit of advice
Best make sure you have the tools ready to open it up and a hairdryer to dry it, then send it away for a strip and service, might as well have it pressure tested while you're at it!
Seems a rather expensive method of water resistance testing?
I have been studying the differences and flaws with the pearl on the submariner insert and notice nearly all display a relatively flush to the insert pearl (slightly proud)
I have recently got a BK sub and mine is quite proud, much prouder than the pictures I have been looking at.
I thought "there's a instant give away"
But I just had a look at the official Rolex presentation video here rolex.com/en#/rolex-watches/submariner/introduction_video
Thats just how mine looks. Did they change the pearl at some point?
I have searched for the answer and all I could find was info relating to changing from a luminous pearl to a tritium pearl. Has this got something to do with it?
Cheers.
Looks like a good resource, shame about his current personal circumstances. Hopefully it may be a useful contact in the future.
I am enjoying reading his blog.
Thanks for the link.
If it's your passion then....yeah!
It is a lovely looking dial.
I guess if I stick at it for a couple of years then I'm sure the Mrs will understand "love, look at my new dial" how much was that "only 1k" BANG!! ouch
Please excuse my ignorance guys but 1000 bucks for a rep dial and it has imperfections?
Whats a gen go for? (if you could/can get one of course)
Just looking for enlightenment!
