  1. Very good price. I paid the same 3 months ago but without the retainer ring.
  2. If your wife is anything like mine was, she wanted to make sure she had some makeup in her overnight bag to freshen up before visitors came to visit her and the baby. Figure out a way for her to find it that way. Or center piece of some flowers. Don't ruin it with a fake box though. You went through the trouble to get her a future heirloom. It's 4th and one on the goal line. Are you going to go for a field goal or the touchdown?
  3. All I see is a black box.
  4. Be careful only using a crown as judgement. It is possible to have a 6mm on a 16750 without modification to the crown guard opening. Looks real to me.
  5. That's..............odd. I would look for a different crystal
  6. While you're at it I'd add some brushing. Too much polish IMO.
  7. Here is an angled shot that shows his work. Looks just like my other dials as well as my 1680 service dial.
  8. I would say yes. On my 16800 I was very specific with him that I wanted the flat look found on Rolex service dials. He said "no problem". Turn around was pretty good and he was upfront that he really wanted to take his time as it was a gen matte dial. Think it was 4-5 weeks. I've had zig luned work as well and pb's was as good as zig's. for my application of flat lume I would say even better as I have personally never seen a zig lume job that was requested to mimic a gen Rolex lume for flatness.
  9. I would relume the dial. I had a spare 16800 matte that I had PBDad relume for my gen 16800. With a set of service hands, i love the matte glow. Well worth it and how a modern sub should look IMO.
  10. Looks very good. Have you considered new hands? That will really take it up a notch.
  11. I say anamoly as it isn't as common as the 79090. I've heard both bi and u I directional for these subs
  12. You are referring to the 79190. They are an anomaly I think. Never owned one but a similar bezel setup to a 79090 but with sapphire. I believe it is a smooth turning bidirectional but not certain they share the same insert.

    Tudor Sub

    No. Avoid.
  14. One thing to keep in mind with ETA's and Tropics: 24XX and 27XX powered movements use Tropic 125's 28XX powered movements use Tropic 140's. Why I don't know. Could be either cyclops alignment or due to movement thickness but they are different. 7021 and 9411 use the 125. 79090 and 79190 use the 140.
  15. same for me. I went through a total of 7 gen bezels (including my original) before I was able to settle on the 3 I needed to make insert changing easier on my 16800. 4 of the 7 were too tight. Was the retaining ring and the bezel obtained as a set? If not, the retaining ring could have more wear on it then the interior surfaces of the bezel. Only way to fix this is to bend the click spring out further to apply greater pressure on the bezel. This in turn will tighten it up but will also result in making it harder to turn the entire assembly.
  16. I agree. Sold a 7206 about 5 years ago and was happy I got 300 for it. I was selling 93150s for 4-500 at the time. I just sold a c&I from 78 for 550 and if I had a 7206 know I could get 800 for it.
  17. Another option that us 1680's were offered was the us C&I rivet. Similar to the 7206.
  18. I'm going to order one and install on my 16750 as well.
  19. Good to know. Didn't know the 6542, 1675 and 16750 could all use the same inserts. Is the $150 pricing still valid for VIP members? Just noticed mine is expired but I can't upgrade the darn thing again.......
  20. I think I have a gen 700 tube. If you can send me a photo of what it is supposed to look like I can tell you. If I do, you can have it for dirt cheap. Just collects dust and I have no need for it. Not certain though if it's for a 700 or a 702.
  21. JoeyB, Can these inserts be retrofitted to work on a gen bezel for a 16750? Saw a mod on TRF where a user did this with a 1675 and I want to do the same to my gen 16750. Thanks Gav
  22. Blue dial seller is Ray. Good guy to deal with. Just purchased a 9401 from him. Think it's the third I've bought from him over the years. He's bought from me and I from him. Easy to deal with. He will stand behind his product. The 9401 had rep hands on it. We didn't notice this until I had it. Sent him some pics. He was not happy. He sourced a set of correct hands with matching lume and sent them via express. Received them today and installed them. Good to go. Easy to deal with and will negotiate. hint: you can probably get a good deal on that sub. Remember he's from Hong Kong and will negotiate. Just shoot him an email and tell him to just name his low price. Saves some time. That's how I do it. My recommendation while reviewing VRF is to avoid the seller Derek. He has been questioned in the past about "coloring" the lume on his subs that he sells. No proof but enough questioning to make you wonder. Case has seen a polishing and has some bubbling but not bad. Little ewear on the internal side of the lugs which is good. Avoid the black dial as it has some serious dial rot.
  23. No but i'd leave it alone. You have a nice hard to find silver/blue 16613 insert. Perfect for using on a SS sub to get a bit of blue with the black dial. I did this with my 16800. Took forever to find one in very good condition. Most aren't in that sort of shape. Good score.
  24. I have used the following for all my reps AND my gens. Ball of tape Sticky Ball Correct tool. All have worked. With sufficient and correct gaskets (in caseback and crown) plus crystal replacement and proper application I have never had any fail (knock on wood) using a sticky ball or a ball of tape. Not as easy mind you but it can be done. I make a point though of insuring it doesn't happen by testing the watch without the dial/hands/movement FIRST in both a hot shower and a pool. If it doesn't leak, I put an indicating mark on the caseback and case with a sharpie. Once done, I install movement and reseal the watch making sure that the two indicator marks line up. Sure, not as good as a water resistance vacuum chamber test but I am confident that it will work fine with these: I think the method of using a sticky ball will work fine for the 5513 the OP has.
