Hi Guys, I've enclosed a few photos that I quickly found online, but there are PLENT more examples on gen sites. Question: Why is the fitment so poor on many of the rivet bracelets? I recently purchased the old Yuki that was the "best" available to date, and it does NOT look good at all on my MBK 5512 (nor my JMB 1016). Looking at vintage gens this seems quite common. Am I missing something? Thanks for any responses! Bob

I really don't understand this whole dilemma. I was a machinist for over twenty years (from before CNC was the norm). Every dimension today is programmed into the computer - I just can't understand how there can be this much "hit or miss" variation. B

The center portions of cherry locks and high lock mechanical fasteners are steel. The centers need to be drilled out when removing the fastener. We used #30 cobalt split-tips (heavy pressure/fairly low speed). Also, don't kid yourself there is plenty of steel on aircraft...especially nacelles. B

High speed for steel? As a former machinist and aircraft structural tech (20 years) I have to disagree. But if you guys are having success - then more power to you... B

This ^ Low speed, fairly firm feed, lots of oil. Use cobalt as mentioned. STOP 3 or 4 times during each hole to let the bit cool down. You did overheat and fuse the metals! B

I have done the white dial in a toaster oven on broil. Don't get it too close and don't walk away. Check it frequently and you'll eventually get a smoky, almost yellowish patina (not too strong). B
