I have been on the fence for a while, quite satisfied with the replicas i have and more inclined to buy genuines. One of the brands I have been interested in is Longines. A old honorable Swiss brand, the choice of Lindbergh on his transatlantic flight.... In the present Swatch group brand hierarchy Longines is positioned below Omega, but above Tissot. Some of the vintage Longines are nice dress watches.. They have cool names as Conquest, Admiral and Flagship! Longines replicas have been scare.. But some weeks ago a good replica of the Hydro Conquest hit the market.. In design, it is very similar to the TAG Heuer Aquaracer. A divers chronograph, based on the 7750, in a nice 41.5mm size. Apparently, this was replicated from a genuine. I have not bought one yet.. But would like to read some comments and opinions about this one. The original 7750 version exists in three different versions, Aluminium bezel (reminding of the black Omega Seamaster Pro) , stud bezel ( as on the Aquaracer) and a relief bezel (as on the Yacht-Master). Genuine dial/bezel options. So far, the Yachtie-bezel is not on the Replica market. Too bad, the stud-bezel does not have the angular marker on the hours hand.. Personally, I prefer the stud bezel, on white dial. Don't like the round hours markers on the black bezel version, and the Yachtie version is too flashy. Besides, A Tachymetre scale is a must on a chronograph! Likely, this watch will never be a big seller.. And that is actually what I like. Being a Longines, it is not likely to be called out. Still, it is a great watch from a good brand! But how good is the replica? Quite close, I think..? Replica clasp versus genuine. Genuine caseback (from a non-chrono version) versus the replica. I bet this replica is from the same maker as the Aquaracer.. They have filled ink in the lettering on the caseback, even though the genuine does not seem to have it! As usual, the genuine looks a bit more refined. Some close-ups of the genuine.. This watch has some nice touches! Replica versus genuine.

Beautiful picture Master Chief... I have to pick up one of those! This new baby for me this weekend! I wish that the upper display could show "CHRGOD"..! The Aerospace is a very versatile watch. It is a good buy on the second hand market, it depreciates faster than its bigger brother, the B-1/ Airwolf.. Still, the Aerospace has been in Breitlings model line since the 1980ties and has more pedigree, I think. Have a nice wekend!

I missed that.... A new version, but I like "Swissinternet" better.. as on the old Bentley for Breitling.. Seriolusly, this is an outstanding comparison. Exactly the stuff I like to read about. Good work! It is hard to belive that two independent factories have produced so good copies of the CD.. But I think the differences are too many to just be down different versions.. Interesting! Good luck with the build. You will have a killer watch when it is finished!

Modded MBW on left and new SSD on the right! If I had to choose, I had taken the SSD. A great rep, the lack of "frontal rehaut" does not really bother me. The vintage is nice, but it feels cheaper. The matte dial, slightly greyish text and flat hour makers makes it less flashy. The 1665 MBW has a 57XXX serial number, which would make it a ca 1978 model. Pick your choice! @Molymo: Have a kjempeflott Sunday!

I think the latest batch of 28800bph A7750ies have the regulator. I just bought two Panerai Luminor Flyback, which had the regulator. Have also seen pictures of new TAG Heuer Carreras which seems to be high-beat nd with the regulator. A nice touch. Not really sure whether the regulator is functional or just for show.

You are still visiting RWG1? Boy, it seems like a long time ago... Good story, though. Nice to read such histories, like the fisherman who drops his watch in the water and later buys the fish who has his watch in the stomach...

Yes, I know the feeling! It is a slightly weird hobby.. Another thing you will need soon is a set of different springbars. These things break easily, and there is nothing more rustrating than having a nice watch with a broken bracelet, just due to a minor springbar. Naarika sometimes have a nice set of basic tools and springbars, I bought my tools from him.

Wow! That new datewheel looks much better. Some of the "old2 ones had a datewheel which was close to the standard ETA-font. They were not bad, but this new one looks to be specially made. I think the BCE is a big seller for the replica makers these days.. They have refined the edges of the date window as well! The engravings on the bezel looks to be shallower than on the old one, not sure if I like that.. Not so sure about the pearl either.. But there are some variations on the gens also. From what I can see, it looks as if the engravings on the caseback is shallower as well? The "Tacymetre" text is still partly cut off.. I hoped they would improve on that.. The winged B on the clasp looks very different from the old one! The anchor does not have any lifting eye anymore! Have Breitling changed the design? There has been so many changes on the replica BCE-line. Guess I must update the BCE guide with this latest version. Great comparison, thanks!

I hope his dear dad was not one of our dear members.....

Excellent writeup! This is a watch which sure has grown on me. At first I found it far too non-Breitling in design and too big, but it sure is a classic almost minimalistic design. The datefont and caseback finish really sets it off! But, it still has a slightly straight "s"... Wear it well!

Interesting thread. It all boils down to the fact that correct service is way more important than the origin of the movement.. The Zigmeister did a full service on my fully functional A7750 (in a Carrera). Afterwards, I could notice the difference when setting the time and the way the rotor spins.. The only thing I missed on the Asian was the regulator (nice to have on display caseback models). Seems like the regulator is installed on the latest model.

No, I can't remember a colonel Hans Magnus.. I was in the RNoAF from '94-'98. Mainly worked on P-3C Orion, Anti-Submarine aircrafts. But I also worked on the F-16s on Bodo AFB. The main Norwegian base.. I cant remember there being any Hans Magnus. Remember the F-15 on the NATO winter excercises. Great noise!

Cool thread! Impressed by the F-15 pictures.. that is one big fighter, far bigger than the F-16 we have in Europe! ( and still, the F-14 is bigger..) I have "always" been an aviation buff, even though I only was an Air-Force weapons and avionics technician in the Norwegian AF. :-) The Speedmaster X-33 is a good watch. I had one but sold it on, still miss it sometimes.. Aerospace is also nice, but I felt that it lacked something. Being a titanium watch with only one crown. It has a very distinct character. My current aviation watch is a slightly odd choice, the original Poljot Shturmanskie! With some patience, you can pick a good one on eBay for the price of a cheap replica. Then you will have a true military chronograph with a 24-hour bezel and date. Personally, I find this more interesting than the IWC 3717, which is "just another 7750-chrono" to me.. The Soviet P3133 movement is a version of the almost bullet-proof Swiss 7733 movement, used in a great number of old Breitlings.
-
Interesting... In some ways I find too close to the original Speedmaster, "messing with an icon". But then again it has been made a great number of variants on the Speedie over the years so this is not out of place.. A big watch, in line with the trend.

I don't really get the new SDDS... At first I found it horrible, now I just find it strange... The enlarged pearl might make it easier to turn the bezel, but on a tool watch it is vulnerable to be knocked out of position. Is the rehaut as "wooky" as in the pictures? And the "Ring lock system" is it a new invention, or just the same old clicking bezel?

Even being a quartz, the Patek is interesting, no ticking seconds hand. I have never seen a quartz-movement with this layout, but I guess there must be all sorts of quartz-movements around. My first guess was that is had to be a modified Seagull ST-19, as in many of the other Patek chronos with moonphase. But, I have never seen a date-modification on the ST-19. I think this mod would have been too complicated.

The flow of A7750 based replicas continues. The Concorde C1 is another big, fancy chrono with "Three dimensional dial" and a rubber strap. Looks like a rather well made watch. Good engravings/enlarged letters on the caseback. The 7750 is of the new type, with regulator. However, it does not "sing" to me... And I will for sure pass this one. In this category, I personally would rather choose the Porsche Design chrono. But, each to his own. Concorde C1 on PC Maybe even more interesting is a new Patek Replica.. I does not know which model this, but it looks good with a big date and combinded minutes/hours chronograph counter@6.. The case looks too thin to be 7750-based.. Maybe only qartz.. :-( Nevertheless, a nice watch! Patek at PC

I am a big fan of the Air-King.. But for a really understated Rolex, I would put a wild card into the race.. The Cellini. That is a Rolex that does not look like a Rolex. It is not popular in here, for obvious reasons.. Still, it remains the most understated Rolex. There are some rather good replicas of the Cellini. Some pics of gens. I do remember seeing a good replica of this one, at Silix-prime, but I cant find it at the moment.. :/ Replica.. 37mm Manual wind Asian movement

Interesting stuff, thanks for the tips! I would not be surprised if the author also is on the replica boards, discussing cannon pins and "Swiss Made" on Pams....

Thanks for the great work you put into the reviews! I missed this the first time around! I dont have a PAm 111 at the moment, your review really makes me want to buy one again!

The "retro" GMT-Master II is a very nice replica, as By-Tor says in his review. I got mine about two weeks ago (bought second hand from this board), and I still enjoys it very much. Good points (in my personal opinion): - about correct date mag - excellent script on the dial - best GMT-hand I have seen on a rep - good bezel clicks - good crown guards and crown - solid feeling Not so good: - Bold date font.. (however it does not look out of place. Same boldness as the bezel numbers) - Lug holes too far out. It looks a bit strange to have them at the end of the lugs, too little metal surrounding them. About 1mm too far out compared to the gen. - "F-serial number" which I belive is incorrect for the version with lug holes and solid end llinks bracelet. But, this is really a minor "flaw". In short, highly recommended! I would be careful to wear it in a meeting with my boss though, if he had a gen.. I would have been worried that he would like to have closer look at it.

Thanks for the review, Lanikai. Well done. Hard to resist this watch.. But so far, I just got my "Retro" GMT-II last week and enjoys it. I see that Trusty now has the watch back in stock, with the correct hand stack movement!

These converted pocket watches are often interesting pieces.. I have considered buying one for a long time, but I always end up with another replica instead. There was a discussion of these "Pilot watches in THIS thread.
