Very nice work Pug! I tried to change the datewheel on my Carrera Chrono by myself, but that little spring fell off.. Did not have an step-by-step procedure like this.. So now it is by The Zigmeister, changing to an ETA. I remember an post over at RWI about this, showing an official ETA-sheet, which was very informative

Ahhh... Aeromatic.. The same people who made my beautiful Swissmatic! Honestly, I bought this watch before I discovered the world of replicas. I later managed to sell it on a local auction webpage.

Hope it sorts out for you with Jay. I have had only good experiences with him. I bought this watch two years ago, and yes it had the same rectangular button on the clasp... If there was a "2nd generation" of this watch with a genuine Ti-bracelet, correct caseback and the new crown I would probably buy that, even at a much higher price.. But that is not realistic.

Thanks for the update. As many others in here, I am considering either the 2007 Costeau or the regular Aquatimer... Hope they change the 001/250 serial number on the 2007 ! Looks as 2007 will bring us many exciting new replicas, Aquatimer, 1:1 GMT-Master, Porsche chronograph flat six.... maybe even the Blackbird and a Big Pilot!

I remember that strap! It looks better on the X-33. After all, the astronauts wear this on a kevlar strap. Be aware that the replica X-33 uses two batteries, one for the analog part and one for the digital. I thought my X-33 was broken when the hands stopped. It did not come alive after I had replaced the battery, so I gave it away to a German member. He discovered the hidden battery and got it going! I miss it sometimes, a cool watch although the bracelet is flimsy and the overall quality feel is not that great!

almost.. I belive it is "half a slide rule". They have obmitted the inner part of the slide rule.. It of course makes the slide rule pretty useless.. The long markers on the chronograph-minutes at 3, 6 and 9 minutes are common on the vintage 50-60ties Chronographs. They were used for timing international phone calls, which were expensive and charged in 3-minutes intervals. Useless today, but a nice vintage design touch. Poljot have also made their own "Navitimer" branded watch. Even with a "Blue Angels" special edition... Who would ever had expected that the Russians would make a watch to honor a US Navy aircraft team..

No prototype photos yet. Interestingly, PT says that this is not from the factory which makes the Steelfish, CD or HBB. Will be interesting to see how this turns out. I like the regular Aquatimer Chrono better than the first Cousteau... The 2007 Cousteau is a better looker, but with the 0001/2500 serial number the regular seems more belivable.. But.. Give us the regular, non chrono Aquatimer, with a safe ETA or Miyota-copy movement!!

I have just this one, and the date font has been corrected. It does not have the stock ETA font which I belive the genuine has, but it is close. Except from that I think it is very very close.. The crown is a bit more square than on your picture, but I have seen this on genuines as well.

Thanks for the review. I like the old Aquatimer, although I find it looks a bit blunt. I understand that the real deal has a special "depress and turn" operation of the bezel, while the replicas have the usual "Submariner-type" operation. This is the main reason I have not bought this one. A minor niggle, I know. Here is a link to a very nice comparison of the Aquatimer to the Breitling SuperOcean and a Panerai.

Another Breitling 7750 movement up for grabs, with correct date wheel.. Hmm, it actually seems to be some of them floating around... Wonder where they come from.. They seems to go in the 4-500 USD range. I belive this one is a newer version... Tempting.. Almost a shame that my Asian 7750 runs so smooth. Breitling Calibre 13 on eBay

@avitt: That Daytona is stunning!! Ingenieur for me today.. I really like it, although the short hands bugger me a bit. I managed to bend and scratch the hands sligtly installing the Lello datewheel. But it is still a cool, heavy watch.

Thanks for the review, very well done! The Explorer I is truly one of the best and most priceworthy buys out there, if you can live with the small size. Safe movement and a very versatile watch. I have an Air-King with the same Explorer style dial. One of my favorites! It does also have a small etched crown on the crystal, probably not correct. Otherwise it is a stunning, yet stealthy Rolex.

There has been some confusion about which movement it is in the cheaper Steelfishes.. The "Light" versions of the Steelfish and Planet Ocean use a Miyota 8215 copy movement, called 2813, as discussed in this thread. Nevertheless, it seems to be an excellent movement. Owners experiences are in this thread. I don't have it myself, partly because I feel that my PO fills much the same "need" for a heavy diver and partly because my Chronomat Evolution is so excellent. If I should choose, I think I would go for the Asian version. Same waterproofness, but no AR and less scratch-resistant glass.
