  1. Welcome, thats a great name you have there! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Why not give a shout to one of your fellow countrymen, Narikaa about some submariner action?

Noobfactory subs are 2nd only to a BK WM9 V2 which run upwards of $500-600. The noob from reg will only cost you about $100! Easier to cut your teeth, and with the savings could get that Chopard.

    Straight from Narikaa's site-

Reg (Narikaa) has that Chopard GTXL, too...

    See you around the boards,

    Daniel

  2. Doc personally i'd like to see you around here more as we go way back to rwg1..

I see you around infrequently, and now I suspect I know why.

And you're a doctor for crying out loud, dont be a cheap ass.

That being said I really should throw RWG a couple of bucks soon myself. And not because lani guilted me into it. Truth is, I wouldn't be Plat if it wasn't for Lan.. But he's starting to become as long winded as RobbieG. ;)

  3. I know I must be being thick here but why would you or anyone here take the time to report it?

Is there a forum protocol on reps/fakes being advertised on Ebay?

Is it just the ones being passed off or implied as being genuine?

Really, its the right thing to do.

What we do here could be misconstrued. Think about some of our pieces or works, some frankens around here landing in the wrong hands. Innocent people could be robbed of thousands of dollars. That makes us look bad, and draws unneeded attention which ends up causing problems for the rest of us that just want a couple cool modded reps for personal use.

  4. Swift Punch to the throat seems to shut them up and stop those pesky questions

99% of the watch conversations I stumble into "in the wild" end up with me thinking the person im talking to is a douchebag, beit an AD, coworker, guy standing in line next to me,suits, etc.Watchsmiths too, notoriously assholish. You'd think they would be happy to discuss something besides the best replacement battery for an Ironman.

  5. Yeah, yeah.. :bangin:

you remind me of the guy that said... "I'm the humblest guy around and want everyone to know it"

 that could be me, absolutely. I fear people don't truly get that I am completely joking with the majority of my random off topic banter. No one can say I didn't try, and fail miserably, at getting some off-topic threads going around here this year though!

Whats downright embarrassing... is 40 people read this thread and decided not to even reply!

  6. Felt like bumping this, and to answer your question Vly,

Can you tell us more about this one: Carbon Fiber Military in BG-42 steel?

there were 3 sprint/limited runs of the Spyderco Military model version, which is arguably one of the greatest pocket knives ever made. These sprint run versions replaced the normal G10 handles with ply peel carbon fiber and used three different "boutique" high end steel choices, a different one for each run.

2005, 400pcs were made with Crucible's CPM-S30V steel, a martensitic powder made steel which promotes a strong blade with a maintainable edge due to the Vanadium carbides. $259.95 buys you this nice Spydee.

    reDSC00597.jpg

2006, they switch to Latrobe's BG42 steel alloy. The steel was designed for use on critical aerospace structural components and high performance bearings but in sheet form proves to be an excellent blade steel. The run is increased to 1500 pieces, and the price is increased to 279.95. This is the version I have.

    DSC_1721.jpg

2008, they pump out a (up to now) final sprint run of 1000 pcs in CPM-S90V steel, at $319.95 a pop. S90V has incredible wear and corrosion resistance. With wear resistance though, the edge becomes more difficult to sharpen.

The Spyderco Bob Lum folding tanto is still my favorite knife of all time though.

  7. That was my thought too. The black dial looks out of place, IMO. The watch is very shiny (everything is polished), so I think a black dial with white diamond markers & bezel just looks odd.

    But thats just me. :pardon:

I'm still for the MOP dial, because it really changes character depending on the angle. I can try and snap some pics if you still want.

Would you mind? I haven't heard from Reg and for whatever reason the white one has vanished from his site.

  8. There is no clear winner here. When I posted this, I was locked on the Black. Now as I write this, I am locked on the white.

You all make very good points, and I suspect there never will be a clear winner. However, just knowing you guys have given these the thumbs up means there really is no bad choice.

Thanks for replying and playing along.

I'm waiting to hear from Reg, on the white one. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  9. I'm pretty sure I like the black one, but I need your help, and I need it fast. I asked Reg to hold the black one until tomorrow. If you want to play devils advocate do it now, or support my decision.

TAG Link Ladies models. Which one?

She seemed to like the pink MOP gen in person, but i'm not sure it looks the same as a rep, nor that it will bring long term likability. It's my least favorite.

About Michelle... She is not an overly girly girly ad nauseam. The black would also match the 2010 CX-7 Turbo she drives. :thumbsupsmileyanim: ... Alas, the white would match the '08 3.5 Nissan Coupe (I'm a car nut if you can't tell.)

Ok, on to the meat of it eh?

The black one. The likely winner. Simple to match with any outfit. Nice and clean looking. Classic. It matches my gen, so we could have "matching Tags". But do girls even like black dial chrome watches?

The runner up.. White dial. Clean and classic yet again. More feminine. But, white dials notoriously lose interest for me. She expressed no interest in this one although she may have never seen it, ever! Girls would like this watch.

The long shot.. some other versions... If you select this poll option, please post some banter about why/what you like. No Rolex, please.

This.. thing. It's pink. Its pastel. Extra points against my best judgement, but i'm a car guy that likes tool watches and shes a girl that likes sweet sentiment and tasteful home decor.

Pics courtesy of Reg, who will be my go-to for these. He's been outstanding to work with and I am confident about my expectations being met. While I sit and wait for replacement parts for watches that have arrived broken/missing screws from other trusted dealers, Reg has been providing great value and service for watch and pens.

PS- these appear to be the so called "1:1 made from/accept gen parts" versions. Does anyone disagree?
