  1. Part 2569 seems to be fine, as it will turn the wheel if screw 52595 is not fully screwed in.

There you have your problem. You should be able to screw down part 2569 as tight as you can. Therefor I'm left to believe the date wheel teeth are too thick. Are you sure it is a 28xx series date wheel? Try laying down the date wheel on a glas plate and inspect with loupe if the teeth are straight.

  2. Hey guys, I have a 2836 that I got from Rolexman, fully serviced. It didn't come with a date disc, so I got a black disc to use for my Planet Ocean project. Before I realized it wasn't necessary, I removed parts 2595 and 2784. I replaced them and reinstalled the disc, but it won't change with the date quickset. I have limited abilities here, so I'm not sure if I might have simply messed up either 2595 or 2784 or if I'm missing something else. I really would like to get this going but don't want to pour money into this movement when I can get a new one for less than $100. Thanks for your help!

Bummer. Did you make sure that the v-shaped spring of 2784 sits between the teeth? Did you use a 28xx series compatible date wheel? Is the date wheel straight? Does the corrector 2569 grip on? What do you feel when you turn the crown in date set. Just some random thoughts. Make a macro pic if you can. Maybe I can help you out!

  3. Oh man! This whole OEM thing is kinda making my head spin. So Breitling Cal. 13 movements are not OEM Breitling because ETA makes them? So we need to say authentic Breitling cal. 13 movement OEM ETA. Theoretically it may be correct but there sure is some ambiguity about that term OEM.

  4. Awesome!! Good thing you know where all those little parts go!! I can take apart a 6497 ok and part of a 2836/2824 and manage to get it back together and working. I cannot even imagine tackling a Valjoux movement like that one! Looking forward to seeing this progress.

Thanks. I too started out with an Unitas and worked my way up. The challenge is keeping apart the screws as they are ALL different....

  5. Sneak preview.... more to come!

    Currently:

-The movement is undergoing a full cleaning and service

-Refurbishing of the case and case back

-Polisihg, repainting and luming hands (the small hands and chrono second are supposed to be orange (was wrongly painted by a hack watchmaker)

-Refurbish dial and reluming (the dial is actually black )

  6. By unbalanced you mean lose? Most probably the tube came lose from the hand. A very common problem on replica chrono's. The hand needs to be removed and one can put a tiny bit of glue underneath the hand where the tube connects to the hand. If you have never done this before better let be done by a professional.

  7. Nobody is denying the fact that he's a skilled watchsmith and had multiple good dealings with RWG members. But what's the big picture, what's his contribution to the forum? He's dodged requests to discuss the modifications that he performs and the majority of his posts read like a used car salesman spiels. He's using the board not to share and discuss but as an extension of his business without being an approved trusted dealer. Read his posts, they are simply presales; all of his "I built this for myself" & "keepers" would show up in the FS section within days of posting in the PAM section. The fact that he used lesser OP parts packaging like screws, etc. in crafty ways, made photographs of OEM parts from angles that would preclude proper identification, used creative selling techniques, e.g. stating the parts were OEM when they were stock or modified ETA -- all tell me that he was just trouble waiting to happen.

Bang on the money! I asked him in a humble manner about some mods he did to the auto wind bridge of a Pam and he indeed dodged them all! I didn't want to rock the boat so I left it at that. He is here to make sales and only sales!

  8. Thanks for bringing this to our attention Andy!

I like the open forum we have and the fact that mods don't ban members depending on how they feel like at the Geek. But this sort of bahaviour tells a lot about the moral integrity of a member. In my honoust opinion a ban is in place. This guy is bound to cause problems in the future. Especially because most of his activity is based on selling watches. And not even the slightest ones. We are talking about high valued moderated reps for a lot of $$$.

  9. I understand where you are coming from. You wanted the piece of mind that your movement is in top notch condition. Really sorry to hear things didn't work out like they should.

@ajeh: Just saw you're in Canada. Shoot The Zigmeister a PM. Maybe he can help you out locally. A great guy and a master watchmaker! They don't come better than him.

Ps: movements that are professionally serviced are best to be adjusted to +6~8 sec in dial up position so you will get +2 in normal day to day wear (if you adjust everything properly e.g. regulator studs, coils etc.)
