Honestly undecided@deandavis but If I don't i have a bezel assembly, very decent insert, hands, crown, HEV, bracelet amongst that bag - more than I expected. Couple have been refurbished by Omega (bezel, bracelet) or there was nothing wrong with them and Omega just replace as a standard practice. Some other bits that I can't identify springs and stuff... guessing from the bezel assembly and a very lightly marked crystal. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

@deandavis@Kernow I have been looking for a gen dial to build something. I've got my Gen 2254.50 back from being completely refurbished and have a bag load of parts to sort through. They refurbished the old bracelet too... Cousins don't seem to be able to supply the dial MPN 064PP3033033 but there are a couple on eBay at £349 Just need to keep an eye out for base watch and maybe a used dial (unicorn!?) Hey folks... I was lucky to pick up a gen recently and it's currently in with Omega for full treatment including new bracelet, bezel, crystal, and the usual service items. I will have a bag of perfectly serviceable gen parts coming back... with the hopefully pristine(ish) watch. If anybody is thinking of a Franken build or just after a gen bracelet that needs a little refurbishment then let me know. I'm almost tempted to try getting hold of a sillix for a beater. Brilliant help @dinkas@themannier@nycrounders I think I've certainly my unscrewed the set lever screw too much and disengaged. I feel confident to attempt the keyless reset. I've done some work on movements - but only Seiko. I did some reading on 6497 and the steps above seem ok. Final question assume hand removal is same as any other?? But any pitfalls to avoid? I've recently been drawn towards the PAM side[emoji3] I picked up a nice 203 and have enjoyed wearing it over the last week or two... it isn't a super rep or anything but I just like it. Anyhow... After cleaning, refinishing and polishing the case I noticed that there were some marks on the I side of the crystal that looked like could be cleaned away. I'm used to uncasing watches and doing some modifications etc. So I thought I would be reasonably low risk in removing the movement and cleaning the crystal. All went well until I went to put the crown/stem back into the movement and then I guess I've been unfortunate and screwed the works or something. After many attempts I did get the stem engaged but seemed to be stuck in time setting position. Also seemed that the tiny screw that is used to secure the stem (lock it in place) was just turning endlessly without tightening. To be clear it didn't tighten and then strip or anything it just never engaged to tighten. So... I either need a fix or new movement. And to be honest I'm not sure if it's worth it if I need somebody to do the work - which I would prefer so as to avoid me screwing another one up. What would you do... repair, replace movement or sell for parts and move on to another? Shame to be at this junction as I really liked the watch :-( I'm in UK by the way... if anybody can recommend the go to PAM guys for work. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

I always wanted to build a Kit Car as a teenager...[emoji106] Instead I restored a Fiat 126... and painted it black with JPS gold stripes[emoji23] Just to add to my random story... something on topic... In the defence of Quartz watches. They might have been the high volume low price curse of the 'real' watch industry. But somewhere along the way they also spawned largely affordable Brands e.g. G-Shock, Swatch that still today are a gateway into watch collecting and maybe for some the realisation that mechanical watches are something they would like to try as well. That must be a good thing right? And I admit I have owned some premium Quartz watches... still do... and they are both practical and beautiful. vive la différence

@totalwise gotcha... you could do worse than check out Ray Wong (can't remember his handle but is on eBay) he does a sterile Milsub with drilled lugs, Miyota or really Tiger Concept are the best options outside of sterile Parnis (ooh that sounds painful). Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

These changes make good sense and reduce the risks significantly BUT... remember that even with VIP and the need for two prior sales things can and unfortunately will still go badly on occasion.
