  1. I only had a handful of photos that turned out well enough to see anything... hope someone else got some better shots... First was a bit of dinner... Followed by a few rounds... of discussion by the fire... Sometimes broken off into smaller groups depending on interests... POTR's Ugly Sub, TT's POTR Auction Blue Sub, TT's formerly ByTor's GMT, TT's TT. and these guys showed up too...
  2. Invicta. And once a month, InvictaSundayRun(dot)com ...
  3. Actually, for a more "apples to apples" comparison you should compare the Ingenieur price against that of the Milguass, as that is the watch which it was originally created to compete against...
  4. Listen up. The US Military does not engage unarmed civilians. They hunt down the terrorists that do. The blame for the vast majority of any harmed civilian in Iraq or Afghanistan belongs to them and those that support them. BTW, they blew up a few dozen more yesterday, gonna add that to your total to blame on the people that were trying to prevent it? Year - Total - Self Inflicted 1980 - 2392 - 231 1981 - 2380 - 241 1982 - 2319 - 254 1983 - 2465 - 218 1984 - 1999 - 225 1985 - 2252 - 275 1986 - 1984 - 269 1987 - 1983 - 260 1988 - 1819 - 285 1989 - 1636 - 224 1990 - 1507 - 232 1991 - 1787 - 256 1992 - 1293 - 238 1993 - 1213 - 236 1994 - 1075 - 232 1995 - 1040 - 250 1996 - 974 - 188 1997 - 817 - 159 1998 - 827 - 161 1999 - 796 - 145 2000 - 758 - 151 2001 - 891 - 141 2002 - 999 - 162 2003 - 1410 - 188 2004 - 1873 - 201 2005 - 1941 - 175 2006**-1875 - 192 ** Preliminary as of Nov 22, 2007, with revisions to 2004 and 2005 Looks like the rate has been modified since I last looked at it, still, the numbers are lower now than the 80's...
  5. The actual death rate for the US Military today are LOWER than most of the COLD WAR. Even the suicide rate as a percentage of the military population is less than half that of the 80's. The rates for the civilian population in Large US Cities with extreme gun control laws is HIGHER. Soldiers, Marines, Airmen and Sailors are not the murderers you try to imply with made up numbers of "hundreds of thousands"...
  6. While immersion in a neutral gas (such as argon) will prevent oxidization of the metals AND the lubricants used, it will not prevent mechanical wear (wheels, etc.) or mechanical breakdown and displacement (lube).
  7. The market value of any replica watch is exactly $0 The underground market value is a different, untamed animal entirely...
  8. I usually use a 1.8mm flat ground (not hollow ground) screwdriver that I eased the edges on (rounded) so it won't mar the cases easily... unless the snap caseback (or in this case the bezel) is too tight or it is a "base metal" case... then I use a case knife, or in the case of a bezel, a 4 blade bezel tool and a crystal remover... Compressed air can damage fragile internal parts (bent wheels, hairspring, edges of the dial, etc..) and even with a good trap, you will never get all of the moisture out of the air, so even if you don't damage something immediately, you've blown invisible moisture into all the nooks and crannies really good, so if you don't to a thorough cleaning and service immediately, you'll most likely get corrosion/rust very soon thereafter.
  9. Ummm... actually, they are right out front at a lot of them, expecially the ones that have built "temp hiring centers" out front for them...
  10. Nope, a billion (US) would be 1,000 million, a trillion (US) would be 1,000 billion (or 1 million million).
  11. There was a limited edition Audi watch .... 50 made... If they ever Rep it, and ya can't afford/find a gen.... it would be my choice...
  12. How about here? How does mutant no-nose rabbit taste if it can't smell? Hmmmm.... rabbitty.
  13. Very nice 'pearl'...
  14. A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until a majority of voters discover that they can vote themselves largess out of the public treasury. Alexander Tytler Of course the United States of America is a Representative Republic.. NOT a democracy, but we treat it like a democracy more and more each day...
  15. If a loan manager can't keep it within the limits, and can't cover it with new paper, or his own reserve, he isn't gonna be a loan manager anymore.. yeah, it costs them...
  16. Actually Phoband the beginning of time was not the 1930's... And most of our economy goes out the window by printing bills and selling them to a private company (the "Federal Reserve") for cost ($0.23 regardless of face value), and renting them back at face value + interest at a $7 circulation to $1 on deposit ("also rented and deflating") ratio So the "Federal Reserve's" real leverage against the working people is... they get $600 + interest (what is $600 + 30 years interest @ 6%) out of our efforts for every $0.23 they they spend... (see, they don't have to really circulate that other $6 they get to "use" all those checks for mortgages really just create that extra money that isn't there, just like the $100 they spent $0.23 on that has to be deposited in order for them to loan out the rest that they didn't even have to bother spending that high charge for ($0.23x6, less than $1.50)... Yup, they loaned you imaginary money for that house, that they didn't even have to pay the smallest pittance for themselves... Of course they have to keep their ratios right, or it costs the bankers in the middle... Thank FDR for making it "legal" and adding the extra siphons of his social(ist) platform...
  17. The ugly old sub again...
  18. The S is backwards... unless you shot it upside down... I didn't know they were faking "service replacements." But from the shape and the irregular dots.. they are.
  19. looks pretty good... was the bezel that bad that you had to cut it out of the pic?
  20. Sounds like the rep factory spent some bucks on a Burgeon 5700... and are working 'hard' on water tightness... weird. but canned air, upside down, makes a nice quick freeze spray...
  21. What?! No props for GUILD or OVATION?
  22. Today I am wearing the Ugly Sub... but the Ugly Sub is now wearing a T19 and fluid filled compass...
  23. So, because someone is selling a piece well below what market should be, it must be stolen? You would probably pass out if you knew of even half the pieces I have sold over the last 7 years (the last couple of months in particular) that were way under priced... just because I had to...
