  1. Now I got my straps from Panatime and I must say like others members already has said that they look even better when You have them in Your hand !!!

It took just 3 days from order to get them to europe !!

And the croco grain straps looks amazing, I normally only use real crocostraps for my genuine watches but with this straps I will probably buy the crocograin straps for them !

But I think that it is the BLACK ones that look as a real crocostrap !!!???

  2. Yes they do. Just tell them that you are an amateur/hobbyst watchsmith.

The only problem I got on purchasing from them is that they do not accept CC nor paypal -- and in my country international bank wire transfers are subject to scandalous bank fees, that add up to the already scandalous price of Superluminova.

Fortunately, in the end they agreed to get paid with money in an envelope (!)

You have so much good information Surfer !!!!!

I just need to put superluminova on the dial ( the hands is already much brighter than the diakmarkers ! ) on my Fiddy and that is perhaps not so difficult ??

But do You know any other dealer on this board that can put real superluminova on my dial ?

I thought it was ONLY The Zigmeister that has the real Superluminova ????

  3. Hello Everyone,

    http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...;hl=PO+movement

    http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...081&hl=2836

After reading these two posts and checking out the photo's of the Asian clone 2836-2 on PAM111's site, i decided to open up my PO and check whether or not the movement is swiss as advertised on Silix site.

    My movement has the following flaws;

    1) The ETA stamp is half covered by the Balance wheel

    2) No "DM" Stamp

    3) The balance wheel has spokes (the ETA doesnt)

As a disclaimer, Silix is my favorite dealer and i absolutely love my PO, it runs very well and almost dead on accurate but the movement on his site is listed as "Swiss ETA 2836-2".

Has anyone else checked the movement in their PO's? Is it just a bad batch that came through with the asian clone movement or are all Silix PO's got asian clones in them. I cant complain about the price or quality of the watch, my concern is more that the watch doesnt have the movement in it that we paid for. What do you guys think?

Silix is also my favorite dealer and I am sure that he can sort the problem out !

I bought the UPO from Trusty Time and that watch had a ETA 2842 movement ( perfect for vintage rolex !!!!!!!!!!!! AND it is a movement that all swatch automatic watches have ! ) in it AND that movement has 21600 bph instead of 28800 and THAT looks ALL wrong when You look at the second hand !!!

Trusty rfused to admit that he had send me the watch with the wrong movement even after I had send VERY good pictures of the movement and the stamps 2842 ETA on it.

    Good luck with Silix!

  4. They are shipped from the states (New York I believe).

I ordered 2 last week, shipped to the UK and had no customs issues. They were also unbelievably quick in delivering the straps. I ordered on Monday, was sent an email with pics of the actual straps on Thursday, and they dropped through my door on Saturday.

For the price of these straps, you can't go wrong.

Thanks for that information, then I will have to ?????? order several of straps for my Fiddy!

  5. One way of knowing if Your eta movement is OK ( perhaps not PERFECT ! ) is to listen to it ( by Your ear ! ) in different positions and IF it "ticks" "exactly" the same then it should be quite OK I think! but that is my opinion.

When the oil in the movement ( specially by the balance caps ) is getting dry You here it "singing" different than when fully serviced ( oiled ! )

My Genuine sedweller "ticks" exactly in the same way in ALL positions and is running perfect BUT when it is lying on the side compared to with the dial up and that IS the case with almost ALL my genuines as well as my replicas !

For ex. my Ingy with 2824-2 movement ( incablock ! ) is running perfect when the following steps is taken :

If I see that it is running a little bit to fast when I go to bed then I put it on the side and in the morning it has slowed down a couple of seconds during the night.

In this way it is running +- a couple of seconds in a month!!!!!!

  6. Can anyone tell me if the crystal on th Fiddy always has to taken out to remove the movement ?

And is the crystal on it fitted in the bezel itself or first pressed in with the gasket directly to the watchcase and then mount the bezel afterwords?

My bezel in NOT pressed to the "bottom", it is a little space on one side!!!!!!!!

  7. Great info, thank you. But, now I'm even more confused - this means Asian clone has Incablock shock absorber and Swiss have Novodiac, and based on info I found around, Incablock is better system, and Novodiac is their "budget" system <_< I wish some movement expert would comment on this.

You are right, it will be hard ....

    regards

I have the swiss made 2824-2 in my Ingeniuer and has incablock shockabsorber so it is NOT sure that the swiss always has novodiac but it is more common!!!

  8. Looks like you got a nice watch for $250!

    Thanks!

I think it is a VERY nice watch and I am not sure if I will fix the dial and hands with a superluminova treatment ( but I will fix the short cannon pinnion and hour wheel ! ) because it looks quite nice with the the little yellowish colored marker and hands. It just looks a little bit more "old" with this kind of dial /hands. The crystal has no ar and I am not sure that I want that on it.

Do You think it will look nicer with AR coating on it ?

Is davidsens ar double coated or just on the inside ?

  9. Interesting too that his website shows his Fiddy with an H series Swiss Swan neck like My older school ultimate from Davidson. I would be tempted to order one if he made clear which one we would get. HMMMMMMMMM

The picturees on Silix website is not always the same as You will get from him!!! BUT I always get a picture of the actual watch that he/she is going to send to me BEFORE it will be shipped!!!

But You have to pay for the watch BEFORE he take a picture of it , in the case of the Fiddy the photos from him/her really was exactly the same watch actually shipped.

I asked if he/she had more than one oh this butiful watch but said that he/she had only one with real swiss movement and also said that the market with real swiss 6497 is extremly short!

  10. Today I got a Fiddy 127 from Silix and it has the swiss eta 6497 ( novodiac shockabsorber ! ) with swanneck ( not the dagger one ! ) and it is so so VERY VERY nice!!!!!!!!

Now I NOW Why every Panerai fan MUST have a Fiddy!!!!!!!!!!

He post it on friday and I got it this morning ( with EMS )

And I paid 250 dollars for it and I must say that was a really good price ??

Silix is a VERY good dealer and he always send me a picture of the actual watch that he is going to send to me.

I have read that that it is extremly difficult to get a Fiddy with swiss eta ( the one with swanneck ! ) so I am VERY VERY happy to get one !

Here are some pictures of my silix fiddy with swiss movement!!post-8050-1208091738_thumb.jpgpost-8050-1208091753_thumb.jpg

  11. http://www.tractionink.com/watch_wiki/

"To timepiece collectors, the rise of Chinese manufacturing capability is both beneficial and frightening. The goal of this wiki is to present a balanced perspective on the global issues which result from the rise of the Chinese watchmaking industry and eventually become a comprehensive resource of Chinese timepiece and movement manufacturers, distributors, and products."

WOW that was a LOT of good information!!!!!!! :

  12. Excellent side by side, thx for sharing.

Strange coincidence, just today I have "worked" on the Ingie (changed straps) and was thinking of improving it with a DW... :)

I know the bracelet is a nice piece of work. I have however gone for the nylon strap, it just gives it a very different look. "Thinner" I would say.

In any case, an affordable "super rep" ? ;)

Use the deployment clasp ( folding clasp ) and the strap will last A LOT longer!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. I have showered in the ingy with out problems but not tested it any further than that, all i can add is that as long as all the seals are greased and fitted well there should be no reason for it not to be water tight, th gen is only tested to 120m so even at that it is only surface swimming, snorkeling recomended.

I have had my ingy in the sauna with a cold shower after ( a test that IWC use ! they have a cold watchcase and then put a drop of cold water on the crystal and then look if there is any condensation under the drop of water ! ) and it was perfectly watertight ( all gaskets and o-ring inside the crown !) greased with silicone.

But I have NOT the beatiful ar coating from k2222 or chiftang. Because there is always a risk of losing the watertightness when taking out and put back the crystal without put a NEW gasket!!!!!!

My watchsmith ( normally works with genuine rolex !!! ) saw that the crystal on my ingy was NOT sitting pefectly tight ( in line with the case ! ) to the watchcase but it is perfectly watertight now anyway.

But I think that You have to screw the caseback qute tight to the case when closing it AND make sure that the o-ring in the case is where should be and not hooked up somewhere, it is quite small in diameter !!!!

  14. I am trying to get a handle on what a genuine ETA 6497-1 should look like. I have read several posts on this topic on another forum I found, but they just seemed like a bunch of people (like me) trying to sound like they know what they are talking about. Ofie has a very poor picture so I couldn't use that one. I figured since The Zigmeister is gone for now so someone has to step up and take a swing at this (hopefully with his attention to accurate articulation of fact). Can someone show me a pic of a real swiss ETA 6497-1. From what I read, there are many ebauches out there and people just put any ole mix and match parts together and call it genunine, Swiss, ETA, Unitas, or whatever. So you may think you have a genuine ETA, but you really don't.

The movement I have appears to be real and was claimed to have been real. It has the ETA stamping under the balance wheel , the words= seventeen 17 jewels and swiss stamped on the bridge.......but the shock protection looks completely differnent that my other two 6497s. The claimed real ETA has the type of shock protection that looks like the clip holding the jewel in place has three sides that hold the jewel down, while my other two Pams have the two reversed paranthesis clip holding the jewel securely in place. Also my claimed real ETA does not have a slot at the base of the dagger (metal disk around the shock protection) whereas the other two Pams have the slot at the base of the dagger that kinda looks like you adjust something with this slot using a flat head screw driver. Lastly as my poor picture may not show well, the regulator arms have a small wieght on them. The wieght on my ETA is dimpled. Are these tell tale signs my ETA movement is not a genuine ETA? post-8666-1197867877_thumb.jpg

The shockabsorber in your picture is called NOVODIAC and the real eta 6497-1 also have them.

Kif shockabsorber sita in the genuine rolex movements !

  15. Today I got a Fiddy 127 from Silix and it has the swiss eta 6497 ( novodiac shockabsorber ! ) with swanneck ( not the dagger one ! ) and it is so so VERY VERY nice!!!!!!!!

  16. Does anyone heard anything about that the chinese made cannon pinion for the ETA 6497 movements was not as good as the swiss made???

( Read something about it on the repgeek forum !!!!!!!!!!! )

The chinese ones is less tight in the geartrain and can make the movement get slower in some cases because of this ??

Are the high pinion pin from Davidson the chinese eta or the real swiss one ?

Is there any difference from the swiss and the chinese made ?

Where can You buy the swiss made ones ?
