  1. Welcome to the Spitfire club...definitely one of the under-rated classics!! Welcome to the addiction. If you find the forum fun and supportive, consider upgrading your membership, and get entered in Lani's free Supporter Upgrade raffle.
  2. I always thought all Graham's were butt ugly until I saw them at the AD and had a handle on them. I have to say, in person they have much more presence and have an air of quality more so than pictures seem to capture. That being said, there's no way I could pull one off as the lever, though an interesting addition if you are a pilot in a non-pressurized and heated cockpit and fly with gloves on which so many of us are, is just so huge. It would be an interesting piece to have as a collection item, moreso than a watch I would wear.
  3. Have you tried on the gen? You should look at the gen to confirm things are good for you. Breitling AR generally casts a blue/purple tint at certain viewing angles, and that may make your dial appear to be blue. If it really is a blue dial and not the crystal that is blue, then that is wrong if you ordered a black dial, but it sounds like you may be confusing the two. As to the strap, if you have a tang buckle, you need to add additional holes if the strap is too big and you are in all the way. If you have a deployment buckle and the strap is as narrow as you can get it, you can't wear a deployment unless you start gaining fat or muscle. If you find the information on this site useful given the people who have spent their time answering your questions, consider reading more posts here, viewing pictures and getting a better understanding of what these watches are supposed to look like...and then consider upgrading your membership to support the forum and keep it alive.
  4. Beautiful pieces folks. The pilots are making a presence here!!
  5. 40 Borden's makes $4K!! That will make a good watch purchase. Happy B-Day.
  6. I've seen the gen and I have to say the red is a little too
  7. Very nice mix indeed. Boy those PAMs look huge. Thanks for this!!
  8. I'm with you on this one. I've been wanting a PAM 310 rep...but I don't know if that one will be coming any time soon.
  9. It's real...and it's a compass originally for diving...now for novelty displays at PAM AD's.
  10. That's an ETA rotor bearing. Either the pic has had the mod that Francisco has described on RepGeek, or this is the Swiss movement.
  11. It is a good post...fun to revisit some of these things. I bet buried in there, is someone's holy grail part needed to complete a lifelong project...like the gold brushed, flat topped 3, open 6 and 9 datewheel in the 4th pic....just kidding...it's not a flat-top.
  12. I think you should definitely get the quartz. Everyone else here is wrong. Very wrong. Auto's suck. Stay away from them. Get the quartz...definitely. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . BTW...can you PM me the name of the seller for the auto?
  13. You have tried the angles. It seems Classicwatchparts is the best place...just a matter of making contact. Perhaps Freddy333 has a different email address for them? He had them do his 6542.
  14. It's been longer than Easter though...besides, Robbie's a workaholic and Watch w-Hore...he's got no time for holidays. Eyes on the trade screens Robbie...eyes on the trade screens!! He did say he'd be back shortly...
  15. Has anybody spottted a 10-monitored, UN rep named RobbieG? Last spotted somewhere in the swamplands of Florida? I got a PM from him awhile back that said he was swamped in work...wondering if anybody else has had word? The post length word count on the forum has been reduced by at least 50%!!
  16. Great to see the new modified movement is getting into some classic designs. Beautiful piece of course. Congrats!!
  17. Well done. Glad the process paid off. If you found the info here worthwhile...consider upgrading your subscription, and you can get a free raffle ticket for Lani's upgrader giveaway for a Yachtmaster.
  18. There might be a cheapo version out there somewhere...but not one in a higher quality form sold be dealers here.
  19. I love comparisons like this. Very interesting reading. Thanks a lot for this!!
  20. Not [censored] off enough to affect the bottom line though, I doubt. Remember...the fact of the matter is, watches sold from people on the forum are likely in the vast minority to those sold in TOTAL. So...if sales are still decent for crappy movements with Daytonas and Portugueses from sources outside the forum to make up for those lost inside the forum, there's no reason to create a new movement. If dealers stop carrying watches because they're getting too many complaints and that affects the bottom line, then there's cause to rethink the movement. Thanks again for writing this up!! Andreww had a good question. How clean/dirty/dry was this movement compared to the standard A7750?
  21. I know Dr's...is that close enough? My prescription? Buy 2 reps...call me in the morning.
  22. AWESOME!!! Once again, another fantastic technical post, and one I'm sure will sell a lot of watches with the confidence that the movement is more reliable. Difficulty in assembly is a shame...but I know the talent we have here that are up to the challenge. Thanks for this.
  23. Hi David and welcome to the forum. Glad you're finding the information here useful. I don't know much about Cartier reps and watches at all as they have never been of interest to me...and the lack of a lot of posts on the brand in general is likely due to the RELATIVE popularity of the brand. If you don't see a lot posts...not a lot of members are buying them. There may be lots sold...but not a lot of MEMBERS are buying them...membership being comprised of watch enthusiasts that are computer saavy. Again, the target population may not be people who are enthusiastic enough about the brand to want to discuss them regularly on a forum. Cartier Santos Search Above is a search link for the brand...hopefully this helps. Stick around...read my Noob Guide...good luck on the search...and perhaps you can fill the void of Cartier and post a review or pics or whatever. Perhaps do a pictorial comparison of what you find lacking in the rep offerings compared with the gen. If you find the forum helpful and a positive community...consider upgrading your membership to a paid subscription and be eligible for Lani's Uprade Raffle of a Yachtmaster.
