  1. I recently spoke with an AD about a watch I've been eyeing and was offered a discount of 30%, so I'd say it's time to test his negotiating skills.
  2. Don't let them talk you out of Louisiana. It may not be typical of a lot of America since it's laws and customs are heavily influenced by French law rather than British, but it's got its own culture and laid back way of life. Great food, decent weather, and a rather laid back lifestyle.
  3. I've got one of the new 42mm PO's as well with an asian movement. At some point I'm thinking of using this watch as the basis for a franken and dropping in a 2836-2 movement as well as gen dial and hands. Will this work?
  4. I'm thinking of getting a rubber strap for Reg's 42mm PO. What is the quality of the Watcheden rubber strap, and is there a source that offers better quality?
  5. I too would like to know the answer to this question. Anyone have an idea?
  6. I love these designs. UN really is an amazing brand. The Kepler is an unbelievable watch, I agree that we'll probably never see it repped, but if it were I'd be on it in a heartbeat.
  7. That gets my vote for worst rep ever. Terrible.
  8. Agree that Homer's Flying Tourby is a great option.
  9. I'd been waiting to see some pics of the RG version and once again you've done a great job. The combined review was fantastic and I'm hopeful that this is the beginning of a series of nice UN reps. What an underrated brand.
  10. I'd have to vote for the VC as well. Not only is the syling modern and elegant, but I also prefer the brand in general to Patek. As you are no doubt aware, Vacheron Constantin is the oldest continuously opertating watchmaker and also has a history of innovation, matched only by Breguet. In fact, VC was around as a brand for a hundred years when Patek opened its doors for business. The VC says that you have an appreciation for fine craftsmanship and the art of watchmaking. Sure Patek is clearly a top shelf brand, but they're willingness to produce watches using quartz movements sullies the heritage of the brand in my opinion.
  11. I contacted Josh a little wihle back and he said they are going to be making rep bracelets as well. You might want to see how they turn out before buying a gen bracelet.
  12. I think the problem with the color of the gold is really down to the marketing. What is now commonly referred to as rose gold used to be referred to as pink gold. What was commonly referred to as rose gold (before the casual bandying about of the term to include the old pink gold) was really much closer to yellow gold in color. UN's actual color is rose gold, it's just that you are used to seeing other manufacturers use the term rose gold when pink gold is more technically appropriate. The term has now become virtually meaningless since it's unclear exactly what shade of gold you are referring to.
  13. I'm with you on this one. I've been looking for one for about two years. Look at all of the uber complicated super reps they can come out with, but they can't rep this elegant, relatively simple design properly? All in all we need more super reps of dress watches.
  14. You know, if the dealers would just learn how to take proper photos they'd probably sell more watches. The pics on the website of all the UN's look terrible. I was going to pass until I saw Lanakai's photo review. The pic of the gold plated on the website also looks terrible, but given the look of Lanakai's review I suspect it'll probably look much closer to the gen posted above. I was really hoping for a gold plated, silver dial version, but for some strange reason they've come out with a white dial instead of silver. I'll definately go for a UN, but I'll have to wait for a photo review of this black faced gold version before I decide between it or the red / black bezel ss version.
  15. Not only is Lanikai a rep hero, his fantastic photo reviews are probably responsible for an ungodly number of rep purchases. As an example, after looking at the dealer pics of the new UN I was completely unimpressed. Then I saw his photo review and thought "Damn, that's a great looking watch." Now I'll almost surely buy one. Thanks for all the reviews.
  16. I love the DeWitt's. At the moment I'm debating between getting one or going for the new UN. The watch definately has a wow factor to it.
  17. I had been thinking I'd wait for the UN Maxi Marine Diver rep and pass this one bye. Now I'm debating between this or the DeWitt Academia. Decisions, decisions. Fantastic write up.
  18. Great story....discovering all the great brands and watches out there is endlessly fascinating. Welcome to the obsession.
  19. Thanks to both Corgi and Phoband for your responses. Here is sample of what I was referring to in question number two with the pricing differences. The watch can be found at Silix's site for $335 Silix at Josh's for $398 Josh or on the higher end at Angus for $418 Angus That's a huge price spread for watches sourced all from the same factory.
  20. I'm looking at the DeWitt Academia and have two questions: 1) How is the AR on the reps? All of the photos I see on this site and the dealers sites have a bluish tint to them, while the real watches are crystal clear. Is it just poor photography or does the AR definately give the watch a bluish hue which isn't present on the gen? 2) Are all the DeWitt's offered by the dealers the same or are their differences among them? I ask because the model I'm interested in (the Academia Chronograph Sequential Black) can be found on various dealer sites from $335 to $400+. What gives? Thanks for any info you can provide.
  21. I'd be interested to see if anybody has any info as well. I never get tired of looking at Breguet's, only wish we had more high quality reps, especially the Breguet Marine Big Date.
  22. I just hope they offer other dial versions other than just the 'blue surf' model, love the MMD, but the blue surf is my least favorite dial.
  23. I'm a huge UN fan and I might have to send an email to a few of the dealers to see what their plans are regarding various dial combos. Personally I'd prefer to have the silver and black dial with rose gold, but if not I'll probably bite on a silver and blue dial , but the two shown on Josh's site don't really do it for me. I'm a little torn as I've been dying for a UN rep, and I quite like the MMD Chrono, but not the color combos advertised.
  24. Okay, I'll be the first to admit that Hublot make some ugly watches, but it looks like they're finally getting some good taste, teaming up with Man Utd. I will admit than for the sake of consistently the maker of such ugly watches should probably support a team that plays ugly football (like Liverpool or Chelsea) rather than a team that plays so elegantly.
