DW removes the winding bridge and the counterweight, in order to simulate a hand-wound movement, right? Thinking about this, I do recognize that everything is more expensive in the UK, since retailers use USA price points but add the UKP symbol at the end instead of a dollar sign. Something selling for 100 USD sells for 100 UKP over there ... 50% more. So maybe your watch maker is charging you a fair English rate. I would send it to MD2020 but I can't risk it getting seized on the way in, I got too much money in it to lose. <br />I may send it to this guy, he certainly has an excellent reputation, and is willing to help me out, which is appreciated. If you send your watch off to Breitling for example you know that your watch will get a proper service, documents of proof and guarantee. You can bring your watch to your local jeweler who will quote you $75 bucks and probably only does a partial disassembly if you are lucky, some oil on easy accessible jewels, regulation and ready within 30 min. A proper service with uncasing, cleaning, inspecting individual parts, oiling, regulation, checking seals, waterproofing, aligning all hands etc takes about 6-7 hours for a 7750 if done right. And that is if you do an easy ETA version. The A7750 often holds some surprises which can easily ad some hours.... So can you get a full service for $30 or $100 or $150 bucks? Sure! But you need to go by the reputation of the watchmaker to be certain if you get what you pay for. In my opinion no self respecting and skilled watchmaker will ever charge you less than $200 for a regular lay out 7750... If done right according to ETA guidelines. panerai153 Posted April 25, 2013 Report Share Posted April 25, 2013 Whoa!! First off the DW Daytona doesn't take a Swiss ETA 7750. the ETA 7750 has subdials at 6.9.12 W/ the seconds at 9. Day/Date @ 3 . This is the 375-400 USD model. The Daytona takes a ETA 7753 which has subdials at 3,6,9 seconds @ 9 and a date @ 4 the price of this one is more like 550.00USD. I know, I just bought one from Ofrei and that's what I paid. Seems like the overhaul price is pretty steep. Sounds like the guy really doesn't want to work on a A7750, and he's quoting you a "Sucker" price. If you bite, OK, but if you don't he's OK. I would keep looking if I were you. It was "G" (14060 or 10660), a watchmaker on RG and RWI, but he's Conus so probably won't be much help for you. And yes, it was a 7750 working chrono.
