oswald Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 The 6309-7290 would be from 1987 (if the first digit of the serial number is a 7, the second would be the month of production). The 7290's were made at the end of the 6309's run and used the same case as the next model, the date only 7002. These cases look very similar to the newer 007 style divers with the difference being the crown is at 4:00 instead of 3:40. Here's a few of mine in rough chronological order (only the ones I've had since I bought a digicam) Love those Seikos I'd love to have a 6309 (I think) That's the watch Martin Sheen wore in "Apocalypse Now"
oswald Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 Nothing that special but she's one of my favorites from '69 with a bitchin' big dome! I'm sure it was really water resistant at one time but it doesn't have a screw down crown 666 feet
dec Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 Only the one .. genuine Longines from 1905. The Radiomir style case appealed to me, as did the sideways dial and ornate hands. It's 36mm without crown though, so definately a dress watch.
dcrooz Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 This, for my money is a beautiful watch, copy of a 50's version still produced today I believe. I have my eye on one as they are not too expensive...
longshot Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 oswald: Martin Sheen wore a 6105 diver in the movie. That would be correct for the time period. Actually the thinner cased 6105-800X divers and the asymetrical case But6105-811X divers were pretty common in Viet Nam as they could be bought cheaply (under $150US) at PX's in Japan and the P.I. A few of the Seiko forum guys have gone thru and done screen captures from the movie and it's pretty clear, plus Kurtz/Brando wears a Sub too But Ed Harris does wear a 6309 diver in The Abyss and there are some cool pics out there of Mick Jagger and Freddy Mercury wearing 6309 divers!
oswald Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 OK 6105. I always get the numbers mixed up That's the one with the "stoplight" seconds isn't it? Love those Seikos!

the collector Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 @addingwatch, what model patek is that? is it a franken?
rick Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 I love watches, no matter if they are genuine or replica. Here are some of my genuine babys: - Heuer 1550 SG with rare SINN-dial (In the late 60's to early 70's Heuer produced this flyback-chronograph for the German armed forces - none were produced for civilian use): - SINN 103 StSa: - ETA Valjoux 7750 ("engine" of the SINN 103): Enjoy it!
