  2. So he says that the pre-order begins in 4 days, and something about the 4 day movement now becoming a 10 day movement ?? Also I see that they are giving a second strap for free with purchase. Can anyone closer to the action on this news fill in some more information? Price looks to be under 500 USD

  4. http://www.rwgforum.net/user/54016-jack219/ Avoid this guy from Israel, he is a royal pain in the back side. I have this evening ended an almost 200 email exchange with him regarding some work on his poor condition, new TC sub. His demands are so rude, his tone is insulting, and basically, I am warning my fellow watchmakers do not engage in communications with this tool. Please do yourself a favour, and avoid this young man like the plague!

  8. I know you guys will roll your eyes at this, but Robert Service said it best. Take time to READ this ... don't just scan it. Have you gazed on naked grandeur where there’s nothing else to gaze on, Set pieces and drop-curtain scenes galore, Big mountains heaved to heaven, which the blinding sunsets blazon, Black canyons where the rapids rip and roar? Have you swept the visioned valley with the green stream streaking through it, Searched the Vastness for a something you have lost? Have you strung your soul to silence? Then for God’s sake go and do it; Hear the challenge, learn the lesson, pay the cost. Have you wandered in the wilderness, the sagebrush desolation, The bunch-grass levels where the cattle graze? Have you whistled bits of rag-time at the end of all creation, And learned to know the desert’s little ways? Have you camped upon the foothills, have you galloped o'er the ranges, Have you roamed the arid sun-lands through and through? Have you chummed up with the mesa? Do you know its moods and changes? Then listen to the Wild -- it’s calling you. Have you known the Great White Silence, not a snow-gemmed twig aquiver? (Eternal truths that shame our soothing lies). Have you broken trail on snowshoes? mushed your huskies up the river, Dared the unknown, led the way, and clutched the prize? Have you marked the map’s void spaces, mingled with the mongrel races, Felt the savage strength of brute in every thew? And though grim as hell the worst is, can you round it off with curses? Then hearken to the Wild -- it’s wanting you. Have you suffered, starved and triumphed, groveled down, yet grasped at glory, Grown bigger in the bigness of the whole? "Done things" just for the doing, letting babblers tell the story, Seeing through the nice veneer the naked soul? Have you seen God in His splendors, heard the text that nature renders? (You'll never hear it in the family pew). The simple things, the true things, the silent men who do things -- Then listen to the Wild -- it’s calling you. They have cradled you in custom, they have primed you with their preaching, They have soaked you in convention through and through; They have put you in a showcase; you're a credit to their teaching -- But can't you hear the Wild? -- it’s calling you. Let us probe the silent places, let us seek what luck betide us; Let us journey to a lonely land I know. There’s a whisper on the night-wind, there’s a star agleam to guide us, And the Wild is calling, calling. . .let us go.

  11. The point, as others have mentioned, is that he is wasting his talent "busting" people who are not doing any harm to anyone. He could be saving people lots of money and making a real impact on people's lives by pointing out replica watches that are being sold as genuine on the internet. There's more than enough of that going on, he would have his hands full and a lot more respect. There's nothing honourable in what he does, I guess it keeps his ego fed.

  12. Keys, I can’t tell for sure if there is enough hook or not in the picture you furnished. It doesn’t take much and a small jewelers file should do the trick. Also a dremel tool with a good bit assortment could work, I’ve used both methods, but read further before you attempt this. I’ve had these that wouldn’t stay closed even with a decent overhang on the lower catch. The trick is this. You’ve got two arched pieces that hinge together and you’ve got to shorten the top one in relation to the bottom one. This seems impossible until you realize that the more curved the arch of the top piece the shorter it becomes compared to the bottom piece where the hook is. So, you need to bend the top piece (it’s thinner and easier than the bottom one) to a little more curve than the bottom piece. One way is to do this is to use some thin pliers and pad the jaws with vinyl tape so it won’t scratch the surface, but if you have strong hands you may be able to do it without the pliers, I can. It won’t take much so bend it in a tighter arch just a little at a time and keep trying it until it catches firmly. If you bend it too much then it will be hard to close and you’ll need to straighten it out a little. Don't worry, it shouldn't break. When you press the two pieces together you should feel a slight snap when it engages properly. Try this before you file on the lower catch as it is not so much that it needs a hook, but more the angle that the top piece pulls at that keeps it closed. After you get it tight enough so that it closes firmly, if it still will not stay closed then a little filing on the lower catch is called for. Like I said it won’t take much. I hope this works for you. It did for me. It is the same procedure I use on any deployant clasp that is either too tight or too loose. Mike

  13. hi guys, any experience with that all black PVD thing on PCs? Hows the bracelet quality and everything else? I'd go A2836 over ETA2836, which I doubt to be 100% ETA. Thoughts?

  15. Guys watch in could not be happier as my pics are not so good the ones up surely do it more justice. Impressions: well the sweep is smooth as silk even my best movements cannot rival it, great presence on the wrist I dare say if you are in skinny wrist club might be too much despite its 42 x12 specs wears much larger (Aston might even wear this). Nice bracelet but slight down side double deployment I prefer latch with ADJ to get a perfect fit (but that is just me) but even I will be taking out a link or two it is long........... Also needs some conditioning, time to break out the clean ride. Legibility is excellent I felt it would be one of the reasons I purchased and I was correct. Only 3ATm water resistance w/ no screw down another minus so this in the do not get wet section for sure even washing the dishes could be dicey but I am anal about that. Fit finish very good not high end watch good but let's face it kills 99% of Reps.Over all a definite buy rating and at JP's link for $133 USDs hard to beat. Ps forgot to mention crystal is very cool and lume just on hour/min hands.

  17. The Tudor Black Bay is due out this year hopefully within this month according to Angus from an update last month. I'm not holding my breath though about getting it soon. As of last month there was still a problem with the crystal. We still haven't seen the watch that would ship only a prototype put together. But so far everything on it is leaning towards being a great super rep. Also the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms is currently being repped after some pushes for the FF. The rep will be the non chrono FF I believe SS and poss. RG. From what I have seen so far the rep looks like it will be great but not yet sure on being a super rep. Since there was still some things slightly off on the dial the last time Angus posted pics. I do hope it will be a super rep right off the bat like the BB should or will be. I have a good feeling about watches this year that we will have a lot more super reps esp if Angus is working on them. Seems like Angus is getting more anal about the quality because we are chiming in his ear. And I think the Noob, BP and the new ZF are stepping up there games but unfortunately the prices also. As for the Bathyscaphe there is no word if any of the factories are considering it or if it was even mentioned to them. I did bring it up in Angus's thread for the FF. There was some people showing some love for the watch. So I sent Angus a PM about if he had mentioned it to any of the factories. And if he did not if I would be aloud the start a thread on repgeek under Angus. To see if we get enough support to pursue a rep of the Bathscaphe. Me personally coming from a big Rolex fan, I'm in love with the FF and the Bath. I think Blancpain has nailed showstoppers in the diver watch world.

  18. One could assume it's still the 2824 that powers the previous TC versions. This has grown to become one of my 3 favorite movements aside from the 2892 and the GEN 3135. TC, please post details and price when you can!
