  1. could transplant 2846 parts into a 2824 for a slow beat movement
  2. first of all, dont touch the inside. compressed air works well for dust. could also try an ultrasonic cleaning with mild detergent or vinegar solution for grease like fingerprints i use. http://www.lenspen.com/ if theres a scratch in the plastic it may fill it in with black graphite, so be aware of that
  3. i dont think anyone could create one that would satisfy those chasing the gen dial 100%. you may create one that is 80-90% there for example the print on the gen, the O's are not perfectly round and not because Rolex deliberately made it that way its the pad printing technology at the time created these unique asymmetrical errors. so unless youre going to be using the same method Rolex used to create these dials you will either have one with print that is too crisp or one that looks to have deliberately unrefined text in the serifs, which is how your file currently looks. you would need the master font before any distortions. if you are going to pad print it would not be cost effective for a one off either. and you are certain to go through several print revisions too before its just "good enough" talk to whoopy, hes made dials, and his represent a lot of hard work and effort, probably as good as you can get at this scale. if youre satisfied with the quality of his dials then his methods may work for you, if they dont quite do it for you then you will not be satisfied with your own results i think
  4. i'd say for the price the cartel. mbk has a marginally better case back and bezel ring. the rest (dial, movement, crystal, crown, hands) youre gonna replace anyways
  5. http://www.ksat.com/news/expensive-cheap-sunglasses-put-to-uv-test you'd be surprised when in doubt next visit to the optician or eye doctor they can measure the actual UV exposure through the lens in less than 2seconds using a table top device
  6. hate to tell you, but your watch is missing a movement and a case back
  7. truer words have never been spoken, just dont go on trf with these heathenish views once upon a time platinum was a lot more expensive than gold... but then again so was silver. too many people refer to 904L as the ultimate stainless steel, medical grade even (which it most certainly is not due to its higher nickel content). most rolex owners cant tell their own - from a hole in the ground
  8. movement's great. watch itself, not so much. Bezel teeth actually look terrible and looks like a bottom ratchet one, date disc is printed too large, exterior CGs are cut too thin, SEL fitment is horrible, is that a solid link bracelet? usual low crown position, insert green is wrong again, crystal height is too low. TC's is worth twice the price of this. it's no coincidence it was added to perfect clones on April 1st
  9. kind of looks like an AS Schild watch movement
  10. you found an insert, not too pricey i hope
  11. what i used was double sided 3m scrap-booking tape on the dial spacer ring. install ring on movement position dial properly and set on to movement.
  12. at some point in the future most vintage rolex watches will have to be a frankenwatch. if you dont use genuine toyota parts are you driving a franken toyota?
  13. if its on the internet it can be copied. theres no way to protect any picture. even just pressing "printscreen" will take a screenshot
  14. not a bad case on the new cartel. dial and hands are no good. i see its still the same old flawed bracelet. bezel teeth and case back teeth are kind of dull. lugs are a little thick, rear CGs look like the submariner style ones and a little thick on the outside, looks like possibly a working he valve? case will require some work to make it something great. could actually be fun to work on.
  15. ive found the black bay to actually be the same size as a rolex sea dweller 4000. it is a little thick and a 38 -39mm version would be great. i hope tudor introduces a GMT model sometime but maybe thats stepping on rolex's toes a little too much
  16. thats a very decent base to work from. that one is modded i take it? cgs, lug holes. what i would attempt is thinning the bezel ring, top could lose a bit of thickness, dull the teeth out a bit and shave the bottom slightly. is the beveling weak or did you just "age" it softer?
  17. LOL, saw an ETA powered black bay being sold on a watch forum marketed as "soon to be collectible with the new basel models" trying to get damn near retail for it too ($200 off, on a six month old piece). i guess that makes my '96 corolla collectible too, ya know before they were made in north america and had power options. sounds like a pump and dump to me, trying to get out of it as close to retail as possible before they totally bottom out. I mean who wouldnt want the new tudor in house cosc movement over the generic eta one?
