its a service dial so it will glow green. get a set of TC sub hands and either a service lumi insert or get the yuki pear relumed with superlume and all will match.
personally i wouldnt mix tritium and lumi parts, especially dial and hands. but thats just my personal preference
yes, not hard to apply either. stick the hands opening on a tooth pick upside down and apply. build up the layers gradually allowing for time to dry. if you accidentally get paint somewhere you dont want you can gently use the broad end of the toothpick to peel it away even when dry. just dont use sandpaper as it will reveal the brass underneath.
heres the iodine and bake treatment i used on this MBW 5513 many years ago. applied to hands and markers.
couldnt find a pic of the enamel paint relume ive done before but i was way more satisfied with the outcome of acrylic paint than the iodine one.
to give you an idea of what the acrylic ivory paint would look like heres a terrible relume job i did to this dial. YEAH I ALREADY SAID IT WAS BAD. first attempt ever. just picture the texture and color on the hands and no outside the lines.
iodine +toaster oven
OR remove the old lume with acetone or isopropyl then just relume with ivory acrylic paint. gives a nice texture, no glow, and an aged color
i prefer the latter method
cartel is definitely better for 1/3 the price
both the mbw and cartel needs the same mods to be decent.
the bezel and case back on the mbw may have a slight edge in accuracy over the cartel though.
i would love to try and thin down a cartel case one day. cgs, lugs, bezel ring and deepen the teeth with a file.
