I've tried both toothpaste and polywatch crystal polish. toothpaste didnt work, and the plastic crystal polish removed the tint from the plastic lenses making them transparent. now I own a pair of ray bans with glass lenses. glass is optically much clearer too.

can always contact your credit card company. assuming you paid by credit card through paypal. your CC can rule above them if it is fraud and will give you a whole bunch of other options. you may even be protected from fraud by visa or mastercard. no need to even deal with paypal if they wont play ball

i own a black bay v2 rep. ive gone in two different oceans snorkeling, and diving in a chlorine pool without any issues whatsoever. i did grease the case back and crown gasket before any of this and always try to do so every year before i know im going somewhere with swimming. i also always rinse off any sea water or heavily treated water with ordinary tap water after wards. i think youll be ok as long as the gasket is indeed greased and the case back is closed properly. not over tight, or under tight. and it has to be said, make sure you crown is screwed down. ive seen plenty of people with their crowns unscrewed unbeknownst to them.

where the case was made. there are a couple of case makers from vn. MQ, search "vintage watches mq" and phong of jewelry and watch. phong being most used and commonly referred to as a "vietnam case", and probably your best bet for highest end reproduction case. cost $1,200 USD and up

the mbk shop guy told me the cases were made in japan, i highly doubt that. probably thailand, he could source them pretty quickly (next day usually). yuki cases probably shenzhen given yukis mailing address in the new territories. can confirm vietnam cases are made in vietnam using old equipment to shape and finish them. taiwan does have a huge stainless steel and general manufacturing industry, so its not unlikely that some cases could possibly come from here too. it's been long rumored to be the source of the mbw cases. the quality of metal on the mbw cases was above the chinese made cases at the time too.

Rolex will always remain the standard in swiss watches for the masses. the defacto brand name in high end watches. they may do a price freeze and discount 10% for the next couple years but i dont think theyll ever lower their advertised prices. other brands may have a hard time existing and very well lose funding from their parent companies or disappear altogether. JLC, panerai come to mind. Cartier is well diversified with other luxury products. patek is patek and will always have a specific buyer of their watches who represent maybe >10% of the market to begin with. hamilton and longines have always been cheap enough entry watches that people could always give them as anniversary gifts. there will always be people who appreciate mechanical watches and want to celebrate "antiquated" fashion. in the end when the dust settles, Rolex and Omega will always be standing tall. just my thoughts, yours may differ
