  1. Nice mid case comparison here. http://www.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/tw-case-compared-100197.html
  2. Good point well made. Great write up.
  3. Wow. At least you get a cool box with them!
  4. I haven't read good reports about DW and the qc issues. But almost seems worth a shot at $190. Anyone bought one recently? Matt
  5. Thanks for the info guys.
  6. Pardon my ignorance what's a dw case? Are eta 7734's still available? is there an alternative movement?
  7. I would love to know more about these Tudor chrono reps. I'm wondering what would be a good base for mods/Franken as my next project.
  8. My gen crystal and gasket just clicked on over the rehaut, it can be moved to line up the bubble, pressing the retaining ring on was another matter! I used a home made press and it was hard as hell but when on it keeps everything very tight.
  9. Now I feel bad for the OP. worth checking the packaging to see if that rehaut ring is hiding in there! Good luck I really hope you get the parts you need. Keep searching.
  10. Yeah I agree the TC crown is pretty good. No need to change it just yet. I hope to hear from my modder pretty soon, there were a couple of marks on a couple of the lume dots (my fault! ) and I hope he manages to clean them up.
  11. I've got a gen luminova dial and insert from around 2006 and an older gen crystal without the ar or lec. I've removed the rehaut engraving too. Should look pretty good. I may get a gen crown at some point but can't justify the cost just yet.
  12. Nice find. The only way is gen for that project. There's a French shop called chrono shop that often sell gen Rolex parts.
  13. Real nice. Can't wait to get mine back, will be similar but on a lesser scale. D serial gen dial, gen crystal (no ar) and a used gen insert. Really worth keeping a Franken 16610 IMHO.
  14. Love the 16610. Can't wait for my Franken TC to get back from my watchsmith
  15. So my Franken TC 16610 is with my modder having final touches, it will return with gen dial, insert and crystal. I was worried about wearing it at work as there's a bloke who claims to be a bit of a Rolex guru. A TRF type. I'm not averse to being called out, because it is what it is, a super reliable watch built with gen and rep parts for a fraction of the cost. But my intention with a Franken is to avoid that hapenning and hope the question doesn't get asked in the first place. I just knew this guy would want to examine the watch and he's not the sort to appreciate the cash savings and craft put into a modded rep. Hes more likely to try to ridicule rep owners to make himself look better cos he's bought and sold a couple of rollies on the bay! Anyway, turns out I shouldn't worry. He was recently asked by some detective friend of his to cast his eye over some seized omegas and rolexes from a criminal to see if they are gen or not before they visit a local AD to establish if they could be stolen. This guy told them the only way to tell was to tap the crystal with a knife, if it didn't scratch its definitely a gen! I just smiled in faux agreement with his surefire foolproof method!!! Well need I say anymore. As soon as my watch gets back it will be worn openly and he can make his own mind up and I will just smugly sit back in the knowledge that as a rep fan it is more likely you will learn more about gen watches than gen fans will ever learn about reps.
  16. Maybe try the TC dial and hands which are superlumed and IMO quite accurate. I had a sub like this back in 2005/2006.
  17. Smp quartz. My favourite watch if all time. Reliable, comfy and very cool.
  18. shocking photos! No magnification on the date bubble, hands all wrong need we go on
  19. I disagree somewhat, the reason why people spend so much on a gen is due to the resale value and investment value held by a Rolex. I'm afraid Frankens are notoriously hard to sell. Don't get me wrong I'm a Franken addict but they only make sense when they represent a gen for a fraction of the price. It looks great though my friend.
