  1. If it helps you feel better, I went through the same phase as well. You start of with a nice rep at 85% accurate. Then you find out that you can make it better by modding bringing it up to 90%. You think that you'd be satisfied... hang on there kiddo. There are things such as genuine parts, in case you didn't know. So you hunt down gen dials, crowns, crystals, hands.... trying your darnest to bring your rep up to 95% and then when you think you are done.... you discover vintage Panerais and Rollies.
  2. This is horrid news. Hopefully, my order for a daytona is in before he decides to pull the plug... Sad day indeed. no more affordable vintage daytona builds.
  3. Wow... Awesome builds, all of them. I am of the quality over quantity school of thought but you just went one better with both quality and quantity. Well done mate...
  4. I am sure that it will be very well done. Overall thickness of the watch will something that will stand out given the thickness of the movement used but not many will notice anyway. The datewheel and cyclop magnification looks good but... as mentioned earlier, these promotional pictures count for absolutely nothing.
  5. You can never trust those heavily cropped promotional photos from the dealers. Best is to wait for someone to bite the bullet and buy one for a review. Having said that, the PAM releases this year have been nothing but fantastic, so this should be good. The movement is not the 2893-2 that's used in the gens though if you are ANAL about those sort of things
  6. I had mine done by Spinmaster. I dont know whether the parts can be replaced without any modifications...
  7. Does burnz still have this in his collection.....
  8. Spinny is my go-to guy for all these weird mods that other modder would not try. Didn't know he still offered vintagizing of PN dials, lucky you. I have a 6238 project that I hope gets completed soon. Done my Spinny of course.
  9. EL 029B DSN 028A I just love my EL 029B. Simply an elegant watch to wear and while i dont really favour the 028A, I just can't see myself selling it.
  10. Sorry to hear the issues with the watch but that's a beauty of a watch. Never liked Hublots until I saw this model. Alas, its a bit to big for my puny wrists.
  11. Had to bump this thread all the way to the top of the Rolex forum coz I need help with my case reshaping project. Does anyone have good reference pictures of the CGs' profile when viewed from the lugs pint of view?
  12. Thanks for pointing this out. I would have never thought of the ramifications otherwise.
  13. Classy and unassuming watch. The bar has been set so high that... well any other project will pale in comparison to this build. Loving it.
  14. I am on the road to recovery then. I mean, I did dump a 240..... just that it wasn't into coolfire's pockets...
  15. Thanks R. You helped this noob once, a long time back and they was no cure to the modding addiction. You can never have enough sf240s. One is good, 2 is better, 3 is best.
  16. Made the straps myself. My next/last panerai project requires a sewing of the strap myself (the lug wires are welded directly to the midcase), so I picked up strap-making. All the straps are veg tan cow hide and horse hide (the light brown) Been wanting to post my strap making escapades but no time.
  17. Thanks guys. The 250 does have double AR from Ajoesmith first and only AR run.
  18. sure looks like one... lucky you
