  1. Nicely done. Feels good to tackle these things by yourself and succeed. Great pics too. Thanks for sharing your experience and story. If I may make one comment. It is not a good idea to work on a fabric surface or to set an open movement down on fabric. There is a plethora of lint, fiber and dust that will make its way into places it shouldn't while in contact. Best to work on a hard, flat and clean surface (preferably an anti-static mat). In the long run you will do your movement a favour by keeping it clean during work.
  2. Sorry, I am not sure where in EU to get such material. In North America it is very easy to source. Places like this: http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-spring-steel-sheets/=f13aoz I would think that even a piece of banding material might work if you can find the right size and work it into the shape needed.
  3. Wow! All the big guns are popping up on this thread Not much more to be added to the above info.
  4. Now that would be a ride. Very cool stuff. RainX move over
  5. Not sure I can help with the lume vintagizing but I sure am curious about the project
  6. WOW! Sexy pair. Very very nice. You may have to vintage up that 6263 a bit to go with that bezel.
  7. Very nice collection. That Longines is very sharp. I have been meaning to get one some day , especially a compressor.
  8. Very nice collection. You are fortunate to have such great pieces. Wear them in good health.
  9. sure does. Dealer display....I don't think so. I wonder if the 21j inside still works.
  10. Unfortunately this is a common failure that seems to have no easy fix. At least not one that I have heard of. My wife has 2 J12s and I have been mentally preparing for this inevitable repair. I plan to make my own spring to replace the broken part. I figure with a strip of spring steel, a rivet and some patience I can make something passable. As for a replacement I think due to the structure of the clasp and band it is unlikely that any other will fit. Only alternative would be to replace the whole band. I hope someone else can chime in with better news.
  11. What a great piece! Not that the others aren't nice too
  12. Interesting looking pieces. Some aspects I like some not so much.
  13. I have that very chest for all my watch tools and parts. It is great. Overall quality is quite good. Fits everything perfectly.
  14. Perfect match! Now spill the beans on the details
  15. Very nice! Congrats. The before picture above looks awesome already. Can't wait to see the after.
  16. I think it looks great! It does blend really well both colour and style wise. Very tough to match but I don't imagine you can find any better than that. Nice.
  17. Sad news indeed. All quality issues aside he has produced some great stuff at good price point. He will be missed.
  18. Good chance that the setting lever screw has just come loose. Open case back and tighten screw on the back of the movement just above where the stem enters. If this does not work then there is a good chance your keyless works are buggered and need to be reset. See plan B
  19. Even after all of his punishment think of what he gets to handle all day as part of his job. Worth it I'd say
