  1. Those two deserve a 'bump'.
  2. You guys have some very nice models there. I am a new first time owner of this Monster, and I LOVE this watch. The Lume is without a doubt the best damn lume I have ever seen. I love the SS bracelet that is standard with the piece, and I have ordered a couple of aftermarket Italian rubber straps to try with it. I can't wait to receive them. I am looking forward to my upcoming dive trip more to wear this watch, than to dive. Pug was my inspiration with his great photos of the Monster to purchase this beauty, and after seeing your pic's, I may have to get more of these guys. Which models do you prefer?, if I may ask?
  3. I sit in front of this damn monitor at work and at home.. too many hours a day. Recently I decided to experiment with a little internet radio to see what it was worth. Well now I am hooked. The site I joined (for no fee) is working out really well. It is called PANDORA.com. It is available for the time being in CONUS only, although they have plans to expand worldwide eventually. The concept works really well. You supply your email address, which is not sold or mis-used for spam or internet advertising and that is all there is to it. Once you join you select the type of music you like or an artist or song that you enjoy, and that becomes the basis of your listening. You can ask for as many different genres as you like. Example: I punched in 'Piano jazz', and bingo...all day long I listen to a variety of piano jazz, playing softly on my speakers in the background. No talking...no commercials...just music. I minimize the site, therby not even looking at the preplaced ads, and play..play. I highly recommend it. After a week or so, I emailed them to tell them how much I liked thier site, and they responded by offering me a free baseball cap and T-shirt with thier logo on them. Just to say thanks. Try it you'll like it. I DO NOT WORK FOR OR AM I AFFILIATTED WITH PANDORA, really.
  4. Lets get an off topic thread going showing all the bitchin' bikes we ride! I am currently on a Specialized Alum/carbon frame (road) and about to spring for a new Specialized Tarmac full carbon. My Mountain bike is 1998 Ibis Ti Mojo/full XTR - HARDTAIL! I live.. somewhere...that literally has hundreds of miles of unreal singletrack right outside my back door. I am the only one of my pals still on a hardtail, most others have gone full suspension... Sevens...or Santa Cruz Blur's. I have promised myself that I would stay on the hardtail till I hit 70 yrs old. Ride on' dudes!!!!! With or without a watch.
  5. THAT IS a beautiful PO Chrono! For today, same ol' for this week. I love this watch. And then I will have to wear this Monster for a little while.
  6. Same reason that digital watches suck. No soul.
  7. 'Puggy Posts'....we will miss them. Have a safe move.
  8. I too am an avid cyclist, and I never wear a watch when riding. Too much stuff moving around, and cramping the wrist posistion. If I really want to know the time my cateye can tell me. After the ride you can show off your Inge. Ride on dude...watchless.
  9. I LOVE MY (GEN) BLACK MONSTER!!! I ordered mine with the SS band, and IMHO it is a great looking and comfortable bracelet considering its mass. The Lume is the best on any watch I have ever worn. Very cool. You are correct, there is no hacking. But oh well. I have been wearing it fairly regularly these past few weeks. Each time I pick it up it is still running. So the power reserve is excellent as well. I paid 144.00, and received it from Amazon in three working days here in CONUS. I can't recommend this watch enough. Neat thing is I am going on a diving trip in a few weeks, and I will actually be able to wear the damn thing in the ocean. I would NEVER consider wearing my rep Rolli Sub, my rep Omega Seamasters, or my rep 024, in the shower, much less in the ocean. My new rubber straps should be here this week as well. I didn't like the looks of the rubber Seiko straps either, and I can't wait to try the new ones I bought. The strap size is 20mm. I too will post a couple of pics when they arrive. Wear them well, boys.
  10. I too, have purchased 3 or 4 straps from them. I had no problems with any of them. As good an outfit around. Perhaps you might check with 'LoneStar' or 'Europelli' as well. Then of course there is always 'Banda'.
  11. Personally I have to agree that the higher costing reps do not appeal to me. That being said, I am sure that the amount of disposable income varies from one person to another. If you have big dough, then spending 500.00 instead of 250.00 probably is not the question. And then of course your points on what else to spend it on becomes pertinent. A few years back I was spending 400.00 plus for reps that now are selling for 250.00. I recently spent over 300.00 for Eddies IWC. That particular watch was way worth the money to me. I am sure that in a few months or a year that same watch, if still available, will be 250.00. Of course the issue of Asian or eta then comes into the picture. I suppose that it really is a question of what a particular watch is really worth to you. 500.00 and 600.00 reps, for me, IS NOT the way to go. As you stated there are MANY watches out there that cost that money that have really good movements in them AND have warranties.
  12. Please tell me what is AMAZING about this sub. Is it the cost?
  13. Admin came to my (our) rescue today. That made me really happy.
  14. Admin has spoken. As usual Admin has chosen the right course of action that is in the best interest of the members of this board. I support there decision. I must add that TTK's suggestions too, are right on. Something that as a respected dealer here on this forum would be expected. Thank you to all of those involved in this decision. Lets get back to the dialogue concerning fine rep watches and the sharing of great information and fine photos that we all came here for.
  15. Thank you...Thank you.....Thank you.... This bit of genius will live on FOREVER. Did I say THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have made my entire WEEK. Were they wearing rep watches?
  16. Thought perhaps some of us would like to see what watches we are wearing this weekend. I know I would. Here is my new favorite.
  17. There are issues to deal with...correct. Move the post to Dealer section, etc. Ebb and flow...correct. 26 pages of rhetoric...15,000 hits!!!!!!!!!!! The major contibutor to the thread is a guy that joined the Forum in Feburary of 2007. Last month. Are we ebbing or flowing? Moot point. It is a bummer.
  18. 14,000 views. Is that a record? On ANY forum?????????????? BTW...where can I find the best sub?
  19. A few weeks back I started a thread entitiled 'Deja Vu all over again', and after a few days I had the mods get rid of it, because I felt like I was contributing to the bs here, that eventually destroyed the original RWG. In reading this post tonight I could not help but notice some of the names of VIP's and others reading this thread. Now again, I am getting that same feeling. We need to step back and rethink the direction this forum is taking. What happened to out love for watches? Nothing...it is still there, but many seem determined to let the bs overwelm our pursuit of our 'hobby'. I hope that we can persevere. [censored] a bunch of issues.
  20. Sadly Jonnyboy no longer posts there. Only two appearances in the last few months. Like many others the [censored] he took finally drove him away. I hope that he is reincarnated here or at TRC with some new Name. He was the greatest. Some of the oldtimers still make a daily appearance. It truly is like Deja Vu all over again. May we rest in peace.
  21. Most veteran members on these boards would recommend that you always purchase ETA watches. I own 50% asian, 50% eta. Luck is definitely part of the equation, but when it comes to asian it is definitely a crap shoot. For the additional 100 bucks you are spending on the eta models of the same watch, your odds of failures dramatically diminshes. I too had a similar problem with an asian sub I got from one of our best dealers (at least he used to be considered one our best), the date wheel quit working after wearing the watch TWICE. However the reason I bought the asian was to judge the looks of the watch. After the failure of the asian i reordered the same watch in the eta, and it is working well today. Try it you'll like it.
  22. As much as I would have loved to have been able to get a DW case in the 6263/5 that I recently purchased, for me DW never answered any of my emails, or acknowledged my interest in dealing with him. I found that unless you know him from past transactions, dealing with him as a new guy is basically impossible. I ended up dealing with Ms. King because she was the only dealer that I was able to source the silver dial and SS bezel, as well as the Seagull movement. I would not have wanted this model in a 7750 movement, for the main reason that I wanted the thinner case size in this model at 10 mm thick, rather than the 12 to 14mm that most of the 7750's are spec'd at. Some of our more well known members here that are 'Daytona' experts look at the watch I showed in my original post here, would say that the model I am showing is totally inaccurate in comparison to the DW or EE cases, and dails/pushers etc. For me however, I was more concerned with the overall appearance of the watch and the thickness of the case, not whether or not it was completely accurate in comparison to the gen. In my photo I was conscious of the non frozen sub dial at 6:00 issue, and so I took my photo with the time close to the 12:00 hour to show the 6:00 dial in a 'frozen' posisition. For all the inaccurasies of the watch I purchased, I still think that it is one of the most beautiful reps that I own. I literally looked for months to find this particular model. IMHO the watch that I showed here was worth the effort regardless of how historically accurate or inaccurate it may be.
