  2. Very easy to tell if G is fake... at a glance even For all things G-shock check here: http://forums.watchuseek.com/forumdisplay.php?f=17 - you'll find good information for spotting fakes Also, i like to buy my G's in japan (the jap builts are better) but if you're looking for a bargain, check out seller "ozmobiles" on the Bay. Though I've heard stories of buying street fake G's for less than $5...
  3. Hi, (sorry n00b alert...) does anyone know which one would be correct for a 220? Thanks for any advice, it's a bit confusing for a nub.
  4. Pretty sure you can add a bunch of Franck Mullers to this list. Not to everyones taste, but a lot say they're very accurate. I can only vouch for one - the FM King Conquistador. Never found a review but a few peeps last year said it was a super rep and it is VERY good.
  5. Thery're all keepers I guess but if forced to choose it would have to be the black SOH non-chrono V2. It's so good I've forgone the gen (for now anyway).
  6. Thanks for this! Great review and much appreciated! Also, it's good to see I wasn't the only person to get a slightly crooked 12 marker. An interesting tidbit. The most recent gen I checked/tried on at the AD had a bezel that was slightly out of alignment. Much like some of our reps the pearl didn't align at precisely 12 o'clock. Now I wouldn't buy this particular item. If I was spending that much I'd demand that it was straight but it was strangely reassuring to note that some gens aren't perfect either...
  7. I Just enquired at Getat the other day for fiddy style steriles with custom logo only (no text). He said 30 was the minimum order. Pity as thirty is still too high for this particular SME. I need more like 6. I'm now thinking about buying the watches and having a WS remove dial and hands for me and fitting a laser cut decal myself.
  8. Wore this SOH on mesh today but just put on an FM King rubber (really need to take a new shot though...) for the evening. It will be the first time the FM has left the house!
  9. Sure do (but I learnt my lesson after one...) The person below me had a transaction go bad with Eurotimez
  10. Thnaks Gran, and while the poll only has 10 votes so far, I think it already shows the ends result - we want ruby jewels regardless of if the metal ones will work sufficiently. I'm still new here but I think i know this community well enough to know where this will go if the movements continue to use steel. The community will come up with a list or datebase of watches using the ruby jewels, everyone will be informed and sales of the steel jewelled movements will slow.
  11. Yes indeed. The person under me is a member of the best watch forum around.
  12. Agreed. When I get mine, telling me the time will be a tertiary function. Mine will mostly be used to pry open large beer bottles and hammer in proud decking nails. You call that a tool watch? THIS is a tool watch.
  13. Mine unscrews/screws, albeit it very roughly. Probably best not to play with too much anyway, you'll go blind.
  14. Thanks! Here's a better (but old) pic of it: Think my next purchase will be a proper fiddy homage from getat. They make great watches.
  15. Terrible pic I know, but to celebrate receiving some new straps from Nakortheblue (AWESOME transaction - great guy!) I'm wearing my custom Getat stealth 'fiddy' with croc.
  16. Yep, i'll be keen as well. Think it was made with Queensland Australia in mind.
  17. What's most surprising for such a bulky, angular watch is that it (the gen at least) wears super confortably on your wrist. It would be hard to find occasions where you're wearing anything but boardshorts to wear it though...
  18. Yep, and another thing is it's very easily waterproofable, come with very good authentic style thick green gaskets (paid and verified to 3atm - and complimented by WS). Oh, that's the other thing, The gen is a German built watch. They're gaining popularity here where i live (Australia) but can mostly fly under the radar as well as be recognised WIS's. As some people here know, I'm a HUGE Seiko fan but I would suggest a G-shock to 15yo before a Seiko. I have 6 nieces an nephews of varying ages - and i gave them all g-shocks last year for birthdays and Xmas - they love them. Glued to their wrists. G-shocks are very cool and are 'in'. Much like the clothing brand "Bape" which I guarantee your son wears or covets if he skates... G-hocks cannot be killed either. But seeing as you are after a rep, I second my own suggestion for a PVD U1 ( hehe). The gen is worth about 3.5G's... But if you do go the Seiko, I just picked the attached one up, excellent watch, unusual and "monster-y" but modern. The model number is in the file name.
  19. <-- grew up on a skate board (well many kinds of boards actually) and at 37 I still skate. The most "skate" rep I own IMO is the PVD Sinn U1. Besides being super cool looking, reliable and tough, it has the bonus of being highly accurate and reasonably priced. For a teen I would buy a PVD U1 without doubt over the usual suspects. A teen just wouldn't get them - no contest.
  20. Hey, can't say but I bought one just after Christmas. Oh, and it's awesome too!
