  1. Hey jtrunzo, welcome aboard! You own nothing worthy of mention? I doubt that... we don't measure our worth here by the thickness of our wallet nor the shine on our watches. We're all here because we love watches and brotherhood, and that includes everything from a Timex to a hand built Patek. Stick around, and make yourself at home.
  2. Very nice! You got a nice result on the crown guards too, they're a very unique shape and yours are pretty darn close.
  3. Taking one for the team... well done! Tell us how well it stays wound over the weeks?
  4. APlover, welcome aboard! We try hard to take a more thoughtful approach to watches here, and if you stick around you'll find we really don't even talk much about replicas. Usually it's "franken" pieces being painstakingly assembled with attention to the smallest details. That means the boys here are a treasure trove of arcane minutiae. But remember to treat that information as the valuable commodity it is; the people that know it, have earned the knowledge the hard way. It's frustratingly common to have people flit in, pick our experts' brains, and disappear. Our effort is given to be good hosts, but no reciprocal effort is made to stick around and be good guests ... and eventually honored members. Yes, you've lucked upon possibly the most knowledgeable group of AP enthusiasts in the world. Make sure you're well informed so you bring something to the table instead of just picking brains, picking a watch, and disappearing. We'd love to have you stick around. Pull up a chair and introduce yourself. Make this place your home online.

  6. Who else here thinks that COMEX on his site is straight from MBK? Even the pearl looks the part.
  7. [emoji92] Sleepy... sleeepy... [emoji92]
  8. My plan is working! (rubs hands together)
  9. Magnificent! (swings shiny pocket watch) You're getting sleepy... sleeeeeepy... so very very sleepy. You want to send me this watch. You NEED to send me this watch. Sleepy, so very sleeeeeepy.... [emoji12]
  10. Well said Legend! There's a lot of history here, that I'm darn proud to be part of, even in small ways. Years ago we had a member that was pretty volatile and one night he posted (not in so many words) that he was going to commit suicide. The reaction was extraordinary, people that often rubbed each other's noses in crude jests literally got in their cars to drive to his house. It took some time but we found him and literally talked him off the edge. Bricky was the man of the hour, and I believe literally saved a life that night. The next day he was right back to his rock-em sock-em antics. Another time someone needed a ride to see his (literally) dying mother in a hospital far away, and one of our members drove hundreds of miles to pick him up and deliver him to the hospital before she passed. And never a mention in public that he'd done it. Other people here quietly give watches away to people that mention admiration, with never a thought of compensation.... that would take the pleasure out of the giving. We have inactive members with more than 500 watches in their collections, and they never mention it. It's not about the watches. One of them wound up in a hospital on death's door and an intercontinental relay got a rare book put in his hands, in person, as a demonstration that he means something to us, and so he'd have reading material in the hospital. There are dozens of stories like that in this place we call home. "Knitting Circle"? No, I prefer to see us as men who have been there and done that, and it takes an awful lot to get us knocked off balance. Still waters run deep.
  11. Gnarly Moose Time for me again today.
  12. I went with a gen T39 Superdome from many years ago on the Frosty Flake. I cut the sidewalls down so it didn't stick up so high and still I bashed it.
  13. Soon I'll have a nearly unlimited pantheon of band choices! This is like Christmas!
  14. Tonight I decided I couldn't tolerate the bogus "figure eight" end midlink any more. It's the only wart on Mary's otherwise-perfect 7836 folded band. Here's the offending piece (women and men of weak disposition look away!) I had a bit of trouble along the way... But in the end it was Man +1 and Steel -0. What do you think? Mo' beddah? Now, you might ask where I got that lovely sacrificial midlink to cobble in there? Look no further than Yuki's folded riveted Oyster. That little piece right there. Et voilá
  15. Very very nice. Phong really captured the gen dial texture too. Well done! [emoji106]
  16. There was a thread about shaping crowns to get the 702 look several years ago. Good luck finding it! PS: the gilt build looks great!
  17. Very very nice. I've been thinking about going with dark saturated hands like that on the Big Gonzo.
  18. Alright, answer the question.... WHERE did you find that crystal?!
  19. Doing great! I wore the Frosty Flake the other day and I'm still digging that case work you did. PM sent.....
  20. Hey buddy!!! It's great to see you again! How come the new ID? Do you need the old one reset?
  21. The Nastymariner gets some exercise today. [emoji106]
  22. A Roman walks into a bar and orders a "martinus". The bartender says "don't you mean martini?" And the Roman replies... "my good sir, if I wanted two, I would have ordered them."
