  1. Good Lord, you're right! There's that massive fricken watch and God's Own Band, all held together with pins the size of a duck whisker? *snerk*
  2. Say, Omni, is that a Thin Red Line you're asking about? (good LORD that was a hilarious thread!)
  3. Well said Tim, we are all about sharing information here at RWG ... I cannot speak for the other boards or their policies. Ziggy's detailed photography and explanations have been a huge help to many members and we're lucky to have him here.
  4. Post your favorites, boys! This one's mine.
  5. I know what you mean... as soon as Heuer was hyphenated, it all went down the drain. I spent nearly 500 hours doing dive construction/demolition with an old regulator, not quite as old as the Mistral, that had a sticky mechanism. Sometimes I'd be working hard and suddenly the ball and spring would stick and I'd be sucking for air with everything I had. I finally grew a brain and some disassembly, cleaning and readjusting fixed it, and the next 500 hours were smooth as Miss Understood's butt. The joys of "vintage" diving!
  6. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Are you sure that wasn't sold by our infamous CrazySaleMan? Check out the syntax and spelling... I think it's HIM! Here's a great description of the history of La Spirotechnique >>> US Divers and the Doxa link: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f74/la-spirotechnique-watches-1535.html
  7. Let's see, they drive on the right side of the road there, so not the UK. Lots of small cars crammed in tight... and a large yellow piece of heavy equipment preventing a building falling over.... Hobart, Tasmania. Except that's south latitude. Budapest, or Zurich. And your math sucks.
  8. Dang, I had the exact same experience this morning, sitting looking at my computer thinking.... "what am I doing here??!"
  9. Drat! Missed it by that much
  10. NOT in Alaska. From the angle of the sun at 3:00PM you're around 45 degrees north latitude?
  11. Ahhhhhhhh, an opportunity to dust it off....
  12. Freddy, that dial is the mutt's nuts!
  13. Here's a shot from yesterday, that's a snowdrift I parked beside.
  14. You might look again at Yuki. His are easily cleaned out and refilled with the right color goo, cost the same, and no Ottodrama. Here are a couple Yukis done to different color fills:
  15. Gents, do you know the bracelet ref for the Oysterdate Precision? I believe it's 17mm?
  16. You're singing my song! There are some small roasters here and I'm downing up to 12 shots of good nutty espresso per day. Boy when you get a good one it's just mind blowing. who cares what it costs, as long as the crema is goooood! Happy weekend!
  17. .....until you get to my cobbled together shots!
  18. A setting sun behind me and a blazing McHugh Peak in front, I'm going climbing! Who wants to join me?
  19. That's one fine looking 1680! Don't be too obsessed with the inner curve of the crown guards... if you wear a gen hard enough you get some really funky looking crown guards, at least what's left of them...
  20. Excellent! I was going to mention the bezel next.......... Nicely done!
  21. If you look closely the inside of the bottom angle on the "2" is an acute angle instead of slightly rounded. Here are some closeups from my collection that I marked up to show what I mean. Although, the gen insert on my 1680 has an acute angle.... but it's an "inside pointy/flat top 4" from the early 70s, and yours is an "inside/outside flat 4" so I don't think we can make that excuse for yours. Don't take this wrong, yours looks great but if you paid that much for it, you deserve to get the exact parts you paid for.
  22. Hmmmmmmmmmm. For a couple of reasons, I'm thinking that's not a genuine Rolex bezel insert. Can you verify from your seller that it's in fact gen? Especially if you paid a lot for it...... Freddy, what say ye? This might explain why it doesn't snap down into the bezel correctly.
  23. Boy that's a beauty! I'd keep working on it a little more, to seat that insert well down into the bezel. See how it sits slightly above the surface of your bezel so the side shows? You want to sink it down into the bezel so there's a small recess around its perimeter. Check out this photo, the recess is most apparent at the 6:00 area.
