  1. That's a fantastic collection. Where'd you get the bezel for the 6542?
  2. anyone know if polar explorers can still be purchased with pre-existing lug holes?
  3. I had a 40mm polar Explorer a while back, and I really liked it.. not quite sure why I got rid of it - just wanted a change I guess. Now I'm wondering.. is there any rep variation with lug holes? Or has anyone drilled them themselves on one of these?
  4. This kind of creativity and talent is what keeps me coming back to the rep forums
  5. Amazing post. Thanks a lot for this. Does the Y3135 have a freesprung balance / real balance screws?
  6. Don't really see anything new about this one. If you look at the balance wheel, it still has the adjustment screws like the gen... but it's not a free sprung balance, because there's a stick regulator.
  7. I like the thin case.. I'd take it if you don't want it
  8. One noticeable flaw with Rolex reps, is that the crowns often don't have the crimped inner edge that the gens have. I remember once hearing of someone filing down the inner edge of their rep crown to make it thinner and to give it the correct inner edge. Has anyone hear tried it? Can you post pics of your results?
  9. I recently moved to the EU (Ireland), and I'm looking for a one-stop shop modder.. someone who's a pro at drilling lug holes, and maybe even do some crown guard re-shaping and custom date wheel overlays. I assume I'd have to look elsewhere for things like custom bezels and movement rings, but the closer I can get to a do it all modder, the better. Any tips?
  10. I kind of like the look of the dial without the lume
  11. I am starting a project (building a Seiko actually) and I need to change the datewheel font/colour, so I figure an overlay is the best way to go. Is there anyone who can do a good custom one for me? If so, what's the process? Is it really tough to take the measurements? Or would I just send someone the whole movement and let them sort it out?
  12. Is the balance bridge on these a proper one? Or is it just like those old A2836 - 3135 lookalikes with a pointless extra metal bar to make it look like a balance bridge?
  13. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=251095572483&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123 Such a bad rep, and the guy admitted to me via pm that it is a fake, but when he answers questions publicly, he clams he doesn't know. Look at the 21j movement and visible balance wheel.... and people are still bidding on this :s
  14. Great to see all these gilt 5512/13 projects going on! Keep em coming. What other mods were done on this one?? and this one? There are MBW gilt dials? And what case was this?
  15. I think I've finally got together the money for a decent MBW case, gilt dial 5512/13. Unfortunately, the only one I've ever seen for sale was sold before I could afford it. I suppose the best way now, is to get a modded MBW 5512/13 and have the dial installed myself. First of all, if anyone has a gilt 5512 or 5513, let's see some pics! I don't see enough of them around, and I need some incentive to do this. Also, I was wondering if the Ingod dials fit in any MBW cases properly, or if I'd need to have the case bored out somehow. I've heard of people filing down dials too? Is that do-able? Of course the feet would need to be clipped to glue the dial onto a 2836 movement, but that's not a big deal. So is the dial installation generally easy? Or will it be expensive or difficult for me to get done?
  16. Looks awesome. I'd add a pearl though. It looks better, and a watch in that good condition should have one. I don't see the need for aging the case though..
  17. I had one of these ST-19 Daytona reps for a while. I'm usually not into chronos, and I accepted it in a trade because I thought I was getting a good deal. It was actually a fantastic watch and the perfect size. I sold it and regret it now.. I like these the more I see them.
  18. I'm planning to move from Canada to the UK, and having my watches (which include some reps) shipped over along with other stuff. Is anyone familiar with the procedure here? How does it work with getting around customs fees, etc.?
  19. Looks great! Some of the King Seikos have better movements (the 5246) than Grand Seikos. Are you sure that's the original dial colour though? I thought that KS usually just came in white, black, and beige linen dials. The KS Vanacs are a much cheaper way to get a KS, and there is a lot more colour variety - except sometimes the case shapes may be a lot more nontraditional.
