  1. Glad to have you aboard. Welcome. With reps, as in all things in life, you get what you pay for. Although sometimes less expensive things are better, but you have to know what you are looking at and what the alternatives are. When you get into the higher end reps, about the only differences within a particular model from the same manufacturer will be the movement. Here you have to decide whether you want a straight up a2824, a a2824 that has been "dressed up" to superficially look like a Rolex movement, or possibly the 3135 clone movements that are built to look and function as the genuine. You will find that the members here are a treasure trove of knowledge, however they expect you to do the legwork. Folks are glad to help, but they aren't going to do your research for you. So my advice to you is.......... Do your homework, read reviews on these particular watches, see what the TD's have to offer, buy and enjoy (For a while) and then you will get the bug to make it better, so you add a gen insert, gen crystal maybe a gen dial, crown, etc. Now buddy, you are hooked!!
  2. that's very nice. One of my favorite Daytonas with the Light dial/black subdials.
  3. Yours is beautiful!! mine pales in comparison to yours with the phong dial. Really great job. mine says hello. Just a comparison, the DW dials like mine has are not even close. The subdials are a dead giveaway!!
  4. DW 6238 Today. just wish these subdials were better!!
  5. Man, You got me!! Glad to see you back around. there are a few blingmeisters around, mostly in the Rolex section.
  6. OK Guys, one week to go to get your nominations in!! Next Sunday I will set up a poll so that everyone can vote for their favorite. Keep em coming
  7. Man, that's going to be a tough one, although since it's gen spec, any other gen spec bezel should work.
  8. Where's the video?????? Thanks Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. OK Mike, thanks. I'll set up a poll as soon as the nomination period is over. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. A, That would be great. I don't see way to set up a poll. That would be the best way to handle the votes. Thanks
  11. Certainly there have been replicas passed off as genuine watches, in fact Mymanmatt reported a couple of weeks ago a jeweler friend of his took in a Rolex and it turned out to be less than genuine. As we all know reps are getting better and better, but they are still not perfect. Even with a gen dial, bezel, insert, crown hands, etc. there will still be "tells", however subtle they may be. You are not going to fool the guys here that are experienced, and you aren't going to fool and experienced watchmaker who has had hundreds if not thousands of Rolex watches in his hands over the years. If you walk in a jewelry store that sells 15 brands of watches, and find a junior guy who has no experience, then you might pass off a really good franken as a gen. but if there is a considerable amount of money involved, the junior guy better get help with verification, lest his next selling venture being selling shoes at payless!! So no matter how good the "replacement" case is, it's not going to be 100%. AFA the question about Rolex parts made in Mexico, there were at one time q
  12. Ryan at Intime has been set up here as a trusted dealer. If he has the watch you are looking for, he is a good guy to deal with. Please mention that you are on RWG when you order. It helps us when members mention this forum, as we want the dealers to know that there is business to be had here. Thanks
  13. Not sure it's applicable here, but left justification has always been a problem with vintage Rolex builds if you use a gen dial or a gen spec aftermarket dial. The DW position is slightly different for gen movements and ETA movements, so a dial that uses a date window position that looks fine with and ETA movement will not be OK if you use a gen movement, or one of the 3135 clones that has the gen location DW. I had this problem with my 1680 when I put a gen dial in. Not sure why this problem has cropped up with these V6's if previous versions were OK , unless they are using the same dial for both the 3135 clone and the a2836. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Unfortunately, once you send these scammers your money, you are out of luck. The first BIG red flag is they offer Swiss made replicas. Total BS. Switzerland has the most draconian anti counterfeiting laws in the world. A factory making replicas in Switzerland would be shut down in the blink of and eye, and the principals put in jail. Absolutely no reps coming from the Swiss, guaranteed. Experiences like this are why we urge members to stick to trusted dealers on this and other rep forums. These sites have a long history of scamming folks. They all use photos of genuine watches, and deliver Canal Street quality junk. They have these pseudo -reviews, that are completely bogus, written by the guys running the sites. Just try to write a negative review and see if it ever sees the light of day! Run do not walk away from these scammers. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  19. Ladies and Gentlemen!!!! We are trying to stimulate more activity on this our forum. The Moderator crew is exploring quite a few new ideas to hopefully increase participation here. One idea that we are instituting is a "Watch of the Year". What we would like is to have members nominate a watch that they feel is the best out of the box replica. The rules are very simple. The watch must have been introduced in calendar year 2015. This can be a completely new watch, or and updated version of one that has been on sale before. What we would like to have each member who nominates a watch, write a brief description of why you believe the watch should be the watch of the year. We will tabulate the results after the nomination period is over two weeks from today and list all the candidates. Each member can vote for their choice. Voting will be open for two weeks and at that time, we will announce RWG's Watch of the Year 2015. Thank you to all who participate here on RWG. We want to make sure that RWG remains the most tolerant, member friendly forum, where all who observe the rules are welcome. And we remain the forum where everyone feels welcome and is part of the family.

  24. Looking good there Dragon Slayer!!! What folks need to realize, while we are really laid back and not prone to drop the ban hammer or nuke posts, there are lines that can't be crossed. Guys if you feel like you are skating on thin ice, contact one of the mod crew and run the post by us first. Or take your chances and if it passes muster fine, otherwise it will be deleted.
