  2. I really cannot see any difference between "farming" alligators or crocodiles and commercial chicken, turkey, beef operations. While PETA obviously wants to show the cruelty factor and the tie in with luxury goods that sell for multiple thousands of dollars, cattle hides are sold , tanned and turned into many different products. The primary difference between the two is in the case of alligator/ croc farms, the skin is the primary and the meat is secondary. In the case of beef, the hide is the secondary and the meat is the primary. However the alligator/croc meat is sold. Down here where I live, just about every seafood restaurant sells alligator, it's also available in grocery and specialty stores. As the guy in the video stated, we are bulletproof! As long as there are wealthy people in the world, the demand for Birkin/Kelly bags and Mink,Sable, Ermine, Fox coats will be in demand, no matter how loudly the PETA people protest. 3. The first photo looks like gilt to me. Just the reflections and the way real gilt "lights up" when the light is right. The second photo makes it hard to tell. Here is my MKII homage to the 6538 Black/Gilt dial. In the right light, no mistaking a Gilt!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  5. Tyrantblade, You were skating on really skinny ice a few weeks back and were warned. Please don't push your luck. You made your point, give it a rest. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. Even though he was honest about the dial and the case, I still believe that selling a franken like this is basically wrong. This is not a homage to the Rolex 5513, it's a watch that has a "Rolex" dial and a case and Caseback that have Rolex markings. All that is meant to deceive the buyer. Which brings up another point, the buyer. Who in their right mind would shell out 6k for a watch that the seller has described as not an all genuine Rolex watch. I'm afraid that he is going to be a disappointed sucker when he takes this watch to any vintage Rolex expert. It would be a hoot to see this guy post his watch with some good quality photos on the VRF!! He'll get a real accurate appraisal pretty darn quick. Like Freddy said, I wouldn't be surprised if he got a letter from Rolex. Also, I lay some blame at the feet of EBay. When someone posts and expensive watch that by description is not genuine, EBay should be way more proactive in shutting down these listings and warning the seller that any more "shady" listings and they are banned. 8. Are you concerned that your email address is in your profile? You can edit your profile yourself and remove the email if that is what concerns you. looking at your profile, the email is the only personal information that is posted that is visible to members.
  9. Just out of curiosity, why would you want to do that? I'm sure there is a way, however I believe that most folks that leave, lose interest, etc. just quit visiting the forum. Of course you could do something really egregious and get yourself banned!! Pretty much overkill though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I have been a member of several gen forums for a long time. Mostly forums that are either non brand specific or more obscure brands. I know that there are others from here who visit those forums as well as here. I tend to agree with automatico, however my caveat is the real snobs, idiots and disillusioned belong to the higher end watch forums. These are the ones who tend to look down their noses at everyone who doesn't have a genuine Rolex, Panerai, AP etc., etc.. It is incredible the lack of real knowledge the members of these forums possess. Their knowledge of even their own model, the brand history, notable achievements are a "dark forest" to them. And to make it even worse, they aren't interested. All they want is a venue to show off their watches and brag about what a success they are. Having said that, it does not one scintilla of good to go on those forums and provoke them. Nothing is gained and all it does is draw unwanted attention to the rep forums. Another point, I don't think it a good idea to operate with the same user name across a lot of forums, especially if these forums are at cross purposes to each other. Certainly there are a fair number of genuine forum members lurking on the rep forums. Some are here to spy, others are just curious about reps, some are interested in seeing how really good the reps are. I have no problem with any of them visiting as long as they are not here to pick a fight. I'm sure that reading posts, they pick up on forum names, especially ones that are pretty odd and not seen often. When they see the same name pop up on the genuine forum, it rings a bell. My advice like lots of others before me is simply do not mention anything related to, pertaining to or linking you to reps on any genuine forum. Nothing good comes from it. I have a great example of something that happened several years ago on the Doxa forum on WUS. Dr. Peter Millar is the definitive expert on vintage Doxa watches. He wrote a wonderful book on the History of the Doxa Dive watches from the 1960's (Sub 300) to the present (About 8-10 years ago). Probably no one individual was held in greater esteem by the members of the forum. In a post he mentioned that he had purchased a replica Rolex Submariner and commented on the quality and closeness to the genuine. From the comments, you would have thought that he had confessed to molesting every girl in his home town Girl Scout troop!! Fortunately, most of the negative posters were folks who were occasional posters and infrequent visitors. Most of the regulars stood by his right to post what he felt was correct. Their support was at best lukewarm though. No one really wanted to go out on a limb and join his club!! He was very unrepentant, and challenged most who posted negatively to justify their position, which because of their ignorance they couldn't do. He survived unscathed to fight another day, but had this been just any regular member, they would have been tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail!! So when you are in the den of the bear, don't poke the bear!!
  11. Just noticed this is a no date? My question is with the seconds @ 3, is this going to be another problematic movement that has extra plates and gears to move the seconds function from 6 to 3? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. No problem sir, glad to help. You might want to contact WatchNY via eBay message to see if he still carries them. The seller in Spain, Fabio is a member here. I have dealt with him before and he is OK, no problems to deal with. The one he is selling looks like a WatchNY assembly. The 110 has the correct spacing, the old DW inserts did not.
  13. Homage watch from Lew & Huey for the Affordable watch forum on WatchUSeek Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. There is and eBay seller watchNY who sells these 6263 bezels. Go to EBay search type in Rolex 6263 bezel. Several come up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. I suppose I should put my 16750 and 16610 "P" serial up and save them for the next generation!! Who knows, They may put a down payment on a grandkids education.
  17. Not too bad, but the price is pretty steep. The yellow one is WOW, YELLOW!!! Not sure I could pull that color off, but having said that I've had a bunch of Doxas that are as Orange as Orange can be, as well as a couple of Yellow versions of the Doxa GMT, so who knows?

  21. I hope that you read the fine print with WatchStation which is puretimes wholesale arm. They are very specific in their details. They will not replace your watch if it is seized by customs, lost or stolen. No warranty against any problems related to the watch. Basically their policy is, once it's shipped, it's yours!! All of the above is why that watch is 100.00 USD cheaper. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  23. Thank you sir for the accolades. We really try hard to make this a forum that folks can feel comfortable and welcome while enjoying the greatest knowledge base on any of the rep forums. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
