  1. Tissot Powernatic 80 is a slow beat ETA movement that has stated an 80 hour power reserve. AFAIK this movement is only used in the Tissot Powermatic 80 watches. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Beautiful trio. Top notch collection. Love the silver dial 6263. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I agree with diesel, the case back is wrong. Look at all the Frankenstein here, they all have the rounded case backs. Also either a gen pearl ( these have gotten crazy expensive) or and identical twin from Ofrei, and finally a real HEV or a better "faux" one. Do that, and you will have a real winner. Here is my red SD, gen pearl, insert Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. What Daytona case are you planning to use? I'm no Daytona expert by a loooong shot, but from what I've read, doubtful if a 7753, clone or ETA will work. Hopefully some of the real experts will chime in and answer the question. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Curt, that looks very nice !! Is that part of your collection? I have to say, this one is getting a lot of wrist time since I finished it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. Just doesn't get any better than these!! They are a work of art. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Me too, I believe what made it worse was that was about the time a lot if guys were having watches seized by US Customs. Probably won't be long and it will be making a return trip for the new mods!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. I agree with Nanug, lots of vintage watches of every brand on EBay, etc. If it's the real deal, she will never ever be concerned with anyone asking her "Isn't your watch a fake" !! Mymanmatt put together this one for my wife, it's all gen except the movement and bracelet.
  11. Thank you sir!! I will send them all, but I need to keep something to wear!!
  12. Did you send him a PM? Matt doesn't spend a lot of times on the forum, so you will need to be patient.
  13. Let me know my friend, I have a couple that will be coming your way. One will be a return trip. Will this require a gen dial? Not sure how you can move the DW over with the rep dial. At any rate, I'm all for this mod.
  14. Send him a PM or post this over in the Rolex forum. I'm not sure how often Matt comes over here. Sure you have his correct email?
  15. Absolutely right!! There are no telling how many vintage Rolex watches were sent in and came back "like new". Most owners didn't give a rat's butt, they were thrilled that their Sub came back looking like a new watch. Problem was that new white service dial wasn't worth nearly as much as the old Red dial that was on the watch. same with the older gilt dials and hands that were changed for steel, might look nice when you picked up your watch, but here we are many years later and the results are evident. Just think how much more that 6538 would be worth with the original gilt dial and hands?
  16. There was a post here quite a while back about someone who had a case that would fit both a 7750 and a V72. Honestly, I wouldn't count on it, I would try to find a DW or phong case that was built for the V72. And as prdubis stated, you will need a correct dial, and hands. My suggestion would be to find a really good dial and build your watch around it. It's utterly silly to spend all that money on a case and serviced V72 movement and then use a cheap dial that looks like it came out of a canal street rep!! There have been some outstanding Daytonas built here, and I would do a lot of research. The one you have chosen is probably the most difficult, as it was the first Daytona (Actually wasn't named Daytona at first. The original bezels are unobtanium and if you could find one it probably costs as much as a small car! Likewise finding a proper dial may be more difficult than a 6263/65.
  17. Glad to see you back sir. looks like Mike answered your question. Hang around, looking forward to your sale watches and your comments. Still a few of us old greybeards around!!
  18. Beautiful, that's her real sister!! born of true AP parents, mine is the homely stepsister.
  19. Ken, You know they are going to squeeze you every way they can. One problem to me is thus far they really don't have any viable competition. Others have tried, but it seems like everyone else has fallen by the wayside. If there were legitimate competition, possibly they would develop some flexibility, but since there isn't they ain't!!
  20. Beautiful watch, and certainly would be a viable option for those who feel the ROO's are just too big for their wrist. But the requirements don't bode well for a rep. Thinner chrono movement, not available. Seconds at 6, have been very problematic in the past. From this, I would seriously doubt that the manufacturers would invest the time and money into building a new movement for a watch that has limited appeal compared to Rolex, Omega and Panerai models. With that, If they came out with a very accurate model with a quartz motor. I would be interested.
  21. About 16 months ago, I didn't even own one AP watch. In fact they weren't even a blip on my radar. Then someone posted some photos of the FC V3 Diver, and I was bitten by the AP bug!! After that came a S/S V5 then a Safari, followed shortly by a RG Diver, then a RG ROO, All of these worked fine out the box ( all except the S/S V5 were M2M sales) My next addition was a White dial Rubberclad, and that's where my troubles started. This watch was modded, but had lots of movement problems. Because I really liked the watch, and this one was spending a lot of time either broken, or in transit back and forth from the repair person, I bought another identical one that was fully modded by Domi. This one like my first group has worked just fine. Since I decided that I really didn't need two almost identical ROO's, I decided to sell the problem watch as a parts watch. I listed it at a pretty low price figuring someone would buy it for the parts. after the first day, I got a PM from my good friend Legend who told me, don't give up on this one, send it to him and he would take it to spinmaster and let him have a look at it. So long story short, I sent it to Legend, he took it to Spin, who cleaned oiled and replaced the mainspring with and ETA mainspring.Happy ending!! This watch which I had named "the possessed one" due to it's complete resistance to any and all attempts at repairing it, had now finally submitted and was acting like a watch was supposed to act. accurate time, power reserve of 45-50 hours. But, one problem still remained, two watches that are identical. What to do? Since I make no claims at all of being a modder, I really didn't feel that I could do much in the way of modding. changing out dials and hands were out. But I thought, I should be able to change out the bezel, even though changing out a ROO bezel is a bit more complicated than popping a Rolex sub bezel off. I do have a nice work bench and the tools to do the job, so what the heck, might as well go for it. I found a bezel and crystal on another forum, and after it arrived, I removed the back, case nuts and removed the old Rubberclad bezel. Putting the new one on was pretty straightforward, using another ROO as a guide to make sure the screw slots were lined up correctly, Everything went back in place and there was the "New ROO" Maybe not for everyone, but it gave me another "look" with a watch I already had and I knew was reliable. I owe a debt of gratitude to Legend for his help. He received the watch, personally took it to Spin and made sure it got taken care of. Mailed the watch back and kept up with the progress (Or lack thereof) through the mail system. (It tracked out of Singapore and nothing was heard from it for I believe almost a month and one day, it showed clearing ISC in Miami!) Folks like Legend are what makes this such a great community and I sincerely appreciate his help. So with that here are a few photos of the "Legend ROO". I'm not sure I'm going to keep it on this strap, I may very well try to find a dark chocolate gator at some point. My Rubberclad is on a black gator from SMP_lover and i really like it. I'm slowly converting all my ROO's to the newer style straps with the 20mm buckles. much more comfortable at least to me.
  22. Edge, I would go over to the Vintage Rolex Market do a search and maybe post a Want to Buy. I have been pretty lucky finding things there. Usually well described and vigorously moderated, so everything is what the seller says it is. Some sellers are a bit prone to fluff up their items, but generally good stuff.
