  1. Well said sir!! Our first golfer, Playing away in CA today at a private course owned by the Oracle founder, who happens to be about 4th in the world in wealth with around 50 billion!! Now who really thinks the average guy in the USA has a voice anymore? But as Jimmy Buffet sang, "It's my own damn fault" When we don't exercise our right to vote, the silent majority abdicates their power to the vocal minority. AFA the article mentioned above, I doubt that Israel could handle a "massive Migration" That would be to me seeing 50,000 people arrive in a matter of months, which would overwhelm their social services, unless they restrict the immigrants to wealthy Jews, who can afford to move and reside in Israel, or probably anywhere else for that matter. I doubt that they could handle a large number of "Refugees" who arrive with little in the way of resources. But kudos to them if they can pull it off. I do believe however that any further land encroachment into the Palestinian areas will be met with disapproval by Israel's friends around the world. There is little sympathy for new Settlements in area that are Palestinian.
  2. That is and AP Bands Dark brown Hornback. It's on and AP Bands 18mm tang buckle. They are much more comfortable to me than the deployant buckles.
  3. Maybe I'm seeing something different, but it looks like the tachy ring is off by about two clicks. Maybe it's the angle, really hard to tell about alignment issues with out a head on shot with the watch exactly parallel to the lens and the lens bulls eyeing the center of the dial. The tachy ring out of alignment will make other things seem off If you look at the photos of yours, the 80 should line up with the marker at 9 and yours ids off. the ring needs to be mover to the right about 2 clicks to line everything up. Here is a photo of mine (earlier model I believe) and you can see the 60 marker, the 12 marker and the seconds hand all line up. Bezel screw at 11 is off, but that's been taken care of!!
  4. Obviously, Chicago has either gotten a mandate from above, or they have discovered on their own that a high percentage of packages coming through customs from that particular area in China contain counterfeit items. Probably not just watches but all sorts oof goods. i'm sure that this is a self perpetuating loop, you open a few packages and a high percentage contain counterfeit goods, so you start tp open more, and sure enough you find more counterfeit stuff. There are a coupld of problems associated with this new paradigm, one, neither we, or the dealers have any control over where our packages land. Second, there is no way around customs, period. The third worry is to what extent are the dealers going to go before they decide that it's too risky to ship to the USA with a replacement guarantee for seized packages? Because the US Customs system operates in secret, there is no way of predicting any changes in their programs. So we don't know whether this is a unique situation confined to Chicago Customs, or it's something that will eventually spread to every POE in the USA that has customs clearance. Another possibility is that US customs has decided that all individual packages coming from that postal zone in China have to be shipped through Chicago. that would be a logidstic nightmare for sure, because from what I've read, when a container is filled with packages, it is scheduled out on the next available flight that carries parcels, but i don't have any proof of that. No matter what the answeres are, I can see that for the forseable future, getting a watch or watches from China will entail considerable risks, which to this point have been absorbed by hte dealers, but for how long, We can't be sure. I do believe that shipping only one watch at a time is a better bet than shipping multiple watches in one parcel. Sad to say, but there may come a time when the dealers will be forced to tranship USA bound watches to another country and then onward to the USA, like what occurs with some of the EU countries. There is no way of telling what percentage of counterfeit goods are being seized by customs, but if it's your watch or watches, the number is 100 percent!!
  5. most of the Rose gold trhati have seen are pretty well plated. I have am AP RG Diverand a RG ROO and both are still lookng like brand new. I wear the Diver pretty frequently, the ROO Chrono less frequently. If you take care of it, i would expect that you could expect get a pretty long life from it.

  7. I'm not sure what is going on with tracking. EMS,USPS Priority and Express mail seem to be tracking OK, but not consistent, Registered is not tracking well at all. I have a package coming from Singapore that was mailed on the 31st of January. It's still showing "origin Post is preparing shipment" Now I'm pretty sure it's further along in the process than the Post Office in Singapore preparing to dispatch the package, but I have no way to be sure. So if your package was shipped Registered mail, I wouldn't be too worried just yet.
  8. Thanks Mr. T, that makes sense. Since I have two White rubberclads It would probably be nice to make them a little different. Any idea as to where I could find a SS bezel?
  9. Sorry, I know that!! Living in the south, I'm surrounded by Amphibians and reptiles. A Gator is a reptile right!! And Fried Frog legs are? Delicious
  10. If you aren't the feckless frog, welcome to the forum, if perchance you are then be gone you knave before you feel the edge of the sword against your reptilian neck!!
  11. There are tons of options for a 1991 birth year watch. Rolex had several models at various prices and metals. Also there are a lot of other brands available to you unless you specifically want a Rolex. If you want a Rolex, I would post a WTB ad over on the Vintage Rolex Marketplace. You will have to be pretty specific as to what you want though. You can't just post WTB 1991 year Rolex. It has to be a Submariner, Datejust, Day Date, GMT, etc. Prices there aren't cheap, but Ebay prices have gotten crazy, and the nice thing about the VRM is it's well poiiced, most of the regulars there are very knowledgable, and you will be getting a genuine Rolex. Most of the folks who are regular sellers on there have return privilages if the watch doesn't suit your fancy.
  12. WOW!! That's your "as closed to gen as you can get" White Themes, correct? Looks like from your photos the date surround is dark, is that correct? no bigg deal, I dount that anyone would noticce that on mine except the guys here, and my semi-modded ROO's have a lot more "tells' that are easier to see than the date wiindow!!
  13. Thanks very much sir. I was hoping that would be the answer. And yes I was referring to the surround, behind the cyclops. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. I have two white dial rubberclads, one has a silver date window, the other is black. Looking at photos of the gen, I see some that definitely look black, but some others that are hard to tell, but look like they are lighter in color possibly silver. So question is which is correct? was the gen color changed at some point, or is only one color correct?
  15. I have to say Mike, he's the "go to guy" for AP's, He's forgotten more about AP's than I will ever know. And to the OP, these photos are really, really nice. can't fault their sharpness and clarity. Problem is, when you produce a super sharp photo of a watch the size of my alarm clock, it's a lot easier to see any flaws.
  16. Alan, I wasn't comparing you to MD2020, just that the situation seemed to be similar. I also said that you were communicating, which in both the case of MD2020 and in some cases Rex with completely cut off. I'm sure that you and your dad found that working on reps was a completely different breed of cats to working on gens. With gen movements, unless the movement is completely worn out, it's mostly a matter of changing out parts that are worn out or damaged to get the movement running like new. Completely different with reps. Some of these rep movements are poorly designed, poorly made, and no matter how much knowledge and skills you possess, it's very difficult to make them work, and even if you get it running perfectly, that is no guarantee that it will hold up. Same with modding, if you change crystals, inserts, crown, tubes, hands etc. on gen watches, it's pretty much a simple parts swap. On the other hand, modding a rep is fraught with all sorts of problems. I have said many times to guys embarking on a modding project, "just because it looks like it will fit, there's no guarantee that it will". Lots of parts are "almost" right, but almost won't work with watches. Another problem is unrealistic expectations by all of us who fool around with rep watches. We want our watch to be 99.99% accurate to a genuine which is unrealistic to expect. Many of the folks who send watches in for repair and or modding want their watches to be "just like the genuine" but are not happy when they find out what it's going to cost and their are no guarantees of long term performance. Rob (Zigmeister) told me that he could do a complete overhaul of a gen Rolex movement in about half the time as an overhaul on a a7750 movement and he could charge twice as much and the owner was thrilled to death, Pretty easy to figure out why there are so few folks who work on reps.
  17. There are, and you would have to ask other folks as well, because the list of "super reps" varies according to who makes the list!! I do believe there was a thread here about the best reps of 2014 (I looked, couldn't find one with a list) Perhaps you should start a thread with "What do you think are the best (Super reps) from 2014"? From what I have read, the Breitling Steelfish is a really good rep. In fact I believe that it was one of the ones mentioned further back in this thread . I might add the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms is a really really nice rep. There are some threads here and on both RepGeek and RWI (which is the only forum that has a dedicated Blancpain forum) The Stainless steel /black dial version is a great watch. It also comes in S/S with a blue dial and Rose gold/Black dial. I have the Rose gold version, and will probably get the blue dial version if the next version fixes a small almost indiscernible dial problem. To be perfectly honest I'm not at all impressed with the watch you bought your husband. It's way too busy for me, and that big crown@ 9 looks like it would be really uncomfortable. But to each his own, I'm sure they are selling or the company would pull them, or possibly they aren't selling hence the deep discount. When a 1400.00 USD watch or anything else for that matter is discounted down to 500.00 USD there is usually a reason. Another piece of unsolicited advice, watches from companies that are not watch companies usually sell at a very steep discount and are hard to sell on if you decide later that you don't like it and you want to sell it and get something else. Probably not the case here, because it's a special present for Fathers Day, it will always be around, possibly not worn, but it will be around. You have a couple of weeks to look around as Chinese New Year is upon us and all the factories, dealers and probably the Post offices close down. Work and shipping to resume around Feb 28th I believe. Last , since you are in Arizona, you will probably be OK, as your packages should clear in LA, The reason for the warning, the US Customs Service is seizing a lot of counterfeit goods in Chicago. I would definitely not buy more than one watch at a time, because while they are seizing single watch shipments, the more you have in the package the more likely to attract attention. Also make sure that you and the dealer are on the same page regarding customs seizures. Most of the dealers will reship a watch/watches with proof of customs seizure, but before you buy, you need to make sure that the dealer will. Good luck
  18. Kernow, unfortunately, there are very, very few folks who can work on the a7750 sec@12 movement. REX supposedly has worked on "hundreds of a7750's". This according to him. I definitely question that, as the exact same watch that you sent him is the one that he has never fixed for me. Shame on me for sending it back to him for the third time. I should have cut my losses and tried someone else. Problem is he was so personable and seemed very sincere in trying to get things right, I fell for his line. Now probably will never get it back. 19. Thanks for the explanation. As you can see, I'm still and AP noob!!! My problem is, out here in the middle of nowhere, I very seldom see a gen of anything but Rolex subs and an occasional Omega. Very few really high end watches around here. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. Pretty decent pair!! Mr. A what is the difference in the hands between the gen and the rep. just curious as I haven't handled a gen up close, just looking at them inside a display case.
