A little help? Need service service on a submariner...
panerai153 replied to CrimsonVanguard's topic in The Rolex Area
Don't despair, Matt is very reliable, he might have gotten busy and hasn't gotten around to it.i talked to him a couple of weeks ago, and he told me that he has been swamped with work. He can definitely get you fixed up though, and once he gets your watch, he is pretty fast. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
What do you think, or my bad luck continues!
panerai153 replied to panerai153's topic in The Panerai Area
You are right, something that got left behind!! I looked at the dial with a 10X loupe, and it's not Lume. What is so crazy, a couple of hours after I posted the photos, I looked done, and it was gone. So now it's probably somewhere inside, which depending on where it ended up, is probably worse. Looks Like this one is going to have to make a trip to a watchsmith to find the loose bits. It's a 2893-2 movement, probably could use a service as it's several years old, and it's losing 15-20 sec/ day. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
I just bought this 063 in a non sales forum M2M sale. Everything seems to be OK, however yesterday I noticed something strange with the cyclops. At first I thought this was a reflection, but it's not. There is something inside the crystal that is on the bottom of the cyclops. Looks like a piece of paper or plastic. Now this will need to go to someone who can take the crystal off clean the inside and reinstall. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I strongly recommend that you find a watchsmith in the USA or Canada. Shipping back as you found out is very expensive, a long drawn out process, plus you are going to expose it to Customs going into China, and Canadian customs on the way back. Too much drama and expense. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Broken promises from a trusted dealer

Actually the watch I ordered from Davidsen was done exactly like that. I got the QC photos, and then I paid him. I agree, that's the way it should work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Just pulled the trigger on a VAC 44 FC APROO
panerai153 replied to a topic in The Audemars Piguet Area
If you're looking for speedy turnaround, Vac's not your guy, but if you want quality work that holds up over time, he's the man. You just have to be patient. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I like your watches, but I love your knives!! Can't beat that Damascus steel. It's unbelievable how much easier it is to prep food with good sharp knives. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That is beautiful. A true work of art. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Could be the lighting, or white balance, but it looks more yellow gold than RG to me. Either way it's a really sharp looking AP. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Looking for a rose gold replica, advice pls
panerai153 replied to Thefatedone's topic in General Discussion
If you are looking at an AP, I would consider the Rose Gold diver. Simpler A2824 movement, and similar in looks to the AP ROO RG Chrono Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Broken promises from a trusted dealer

I believe the dealers are getting these crappy watches from the factories, and they are between a rock and a hard place, how much recourse do they have back to the factories? Don't get me wrong, I'm not taking up for the dealers one bit. They could do some QC AND catch 90+% of the problems before they ship a watch! but they don't. They ship them and hope that they are OK, but they are pretty secure in knowing that very few people are going to take the time, trouble, expense and risk of sending a rep back to China, so they really don't have a worry. Another thing, we sometimes are our own worst enemy, something new gets announced, and we go into a feeding frenzy, bombard the dealers with emails, post a zillion posts about how wonderful the new "such and such" is and we can't wait to get one, which is exactly what the dealers want. Case in point, the new AP Bumblebee. On one of the other forums, there is a thread with over 1000 posts about this watch. It's going to start shipping, and there are so many folks clamoring for one that the dealers don't care if 10% of them have problems. The 50 guys that got bad watches out of the 500 that are sold are going to be unhappy, but the other 90% are going to be happy as clams! and they will more than drown out that unhappy 50! The dealers know that there are very few sources for these reps, so I'm sure they figure that a customer might be unhappy, but in a few months, he will want something that only I have, and he will be back. Plus there are always new suckers to take the place of old unhappy ones. It's pretty sad, but I'm afraid that they don't really care as long as there are customers willing to buy! Ryan, Intime is not a trusted dealer on this forum, but he is on a couple of others. I have bought from him before, and was very satisfied.

At this point, I have decided to put the watch up for sale, if it doesn't sell, I will more than likely get thus movement sorted out, or as you suggested, send it to someone and do the swap. I would much prefer to sell it and let the next person have the options. The watch is functioning fine outside of the GMT hand setting issue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I doubt that you are going to get much for 150USD. That movement is probably going to be the really cheap Asian that has been modified to beat @28800, rather than 21000. It is NOTa high quality movement. Not sure what Matt would charge, but he builds a fantastic very accurate DJ and DD. If you get one with genuine dial, crown, crystal, it will be very hard to tell from the genuine. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Good advice!! Pretty much found out from several folks that this is a no go from several angles. I suppose I'll either sell it with the known problems, or send it up to you when you get back from vacation and get the GMT problem fixed. Should have kept my old 063 with the 2893-2 movement! It was a good one. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Man, run don't walk away from this guy. If he has complaints and problems, there is a reason. The dealers here and the other forums can get you any watch that's available. When you go off the forum to buy, you are on your own. Another thing, WU is used by several of our dealers, simply because idiots open PayPal disputes at the drop of a hat. Difference is these guys are TD's for a reason. They don't scam people!! Remember, when you send money via WU, once it's sent, it's GONE! If this guy doesn't send you anything, or he sends you some Canal Street junk, you have absolutely no recourse. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

No doubt their QC sucks!! Actually, it is non existent. I truly believe their QC consists of giving the crown a few turns, and if the little wheels start to turn, that one passes, and is cased. Too bad if it stops 5 minutes later, it's passed inspection and on the way. I don't believe their timegrapher results for one minute. I believe they have a bunch, and they insert the photo add the watch, and take a picture. or photoshop the results onto the screen.

Hit the ADs today.....................
panerai153 replied to Mike on a bike's topic in General Discussion
Mike, They will never run out of customers!! There are too many noobs entering the game every day as well as experienced members who either can't resist having the " latest and greatest", and the only easy way to feed that habit is by buying new. The other group are people who are looking for a particular model, and it happens to be something that seldom or never shows up on the sales forums. I'm a case in point for that group. I just bought a PAM 063 new because they hardly ever show up on the sales forum.Naturally, it arrived with a problem! The GMT hand is hard to set, and probably over time will become impossible to set. Supposed to have a Swiss 2836 movement, but I seriously doubt it. So like a lot of others, I succumbed to the "siren's song" and got burned as well. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
