  1. Well didn't look like your pics either but thought maybe you'd taken a photography class
  2. My wife is getting a bathroom remodel, new kitchen counter top and a custom made Amish wall sized cabinet. Oh, and I'm selling some of my watches....
  3. Was thinking that I didn't recognize the layout or scenery! Didn't look like your place....
  4. That one only works once in a while, and once the wife finds out you have a watch problem she'll be on the look out.
  5. Oh boy, another watch for the watch closet. Have you worn this at least? Looks great by the way!
  6. Isn't that alway the case with a "vintage" piece? We want it in decent condition so we have to search high and low... Have you considered using a broker to find it for you? They'd likely be able to scoop one out of thin air in the condition that you want.
  7. Well I'm unloading a few of my watches to fund my gen purchase, so I'd say there's nothing wrong with that. I also like the idea of multiple watches but I noticed that the more watches I have the more that I want..... I figure that I'll sell down to about three watches and then work up to get a nice dress watch. As far as the 14720 if you like it get it. However it seems like you have some reservations due to the lug holes. Spending that kind of money for something that your not in love with is silly in my mind. Thing with spending several thousand dollars is I expect perfection, heck I want perfection when I'm only spending a few hundred dollars. Maybe if one small thing bugs me I'd still go for it but if it's something bigger or more than one thing I'd say skip it. Get a rep and mod it to a fantasy of exactly what you want and save a bunch of cash. Could buy the 14720 and drill lug holes and be happy. But with a Rolex you have to wonder how much longer you can get parts to service it independently or send it to a RSC. And if you send it to a RSC with lug holes what are they going to do? Refuse to service it? Make you get a new mid case as part of the service? If lug holes are the deciding factor then I'd say skip it, you'd buy it and not be happy, there's no need to chase water down the drain....
  8. Looks like that took patience and skill to keep from scratching the coating from the top. Look good.
  9. +1, would love to see that
  10. Nice, I love my Oris Aquis Date. Oris makes a really nice watch.
  11. Well, that dial is in too pristine of condition to be original. These old pocket watches offered little in the way of protection from the elements and cannot imagine that it would be original. It's likely been refinished.
  12. Probably a vintage sub he hit with his RangeRover.
  13. Thanks to all for the input. I found a watch at what I'd consider a fair price, $2,800 for a watch with papers, box and all three cards with matching numbers. It is in excellent condition with all links and little to no scratches. I'm not much for warranties as I would not want to send the watch to the repair center to not see it back for many months, would rather use a local watch guy! Wrist shot to follow when it arrives!
  14. Thanks - guess I'm not so good at finding such good prices. Would it change anyone's opinion to know it is new/unworn? And where does one find good condition 8500s for $3500?
  15. Guys need your help, I'm not an omega expert so I wanted to make sure it's gen. I'm looking at this gen at a reasonable price ($3,500 with bracelet + gen croc + gen deployment) but wanted to make sure I got the opinion of the community before pulling the trigger.
  16. +1 Sorry you got junk, like is said they're not dealers on this forum so best to stick with our dealers for better results.
  17. Heard of Perry's, been there and it's OK. Heard of Del Friscos never been there. Not heard of Ruth's. Down here we have Kirby's which is pretty good and of course Fogo de Chao's when you really need to have 2-3 lbs of meat in one sitting..... And about a mile from my front door is another Brazilian steakhouse Guri di Sol, it'll do when we don't want to drive into town to go to Fogos. Sorry to OP, heard mention of steak and got distracted. Back to your original thread....
  18. Wow, since someone said something, speaking solely for self, I've seldom seen Mrs Underpants spank someone speaking sultrily about spankings...... Was that too many "S" words?
  19. Have you asked Josh? He might be able to get you one.....
  20. Like the title says. It's not like this is a hollow end link from the 80's, this is a $3k watch and the gaps are as bad as a canal street rep.... For a better pic: http://www.swisswatchexpo.com/watches/omega/mens-omega/aqua-terra-/seamaster-aqua-terra-steel-yellow-gold-2317-30-00-5871
