  1. As far as why get one if he doesn't like them I'm going with his suggestion that it is size based. I don't like the DSSD as it seems out of proportion to me, but maybe he would like it. Yes the truth of the matter is if you just don't like them you won't likely get much use out if the watch but who amung us hasn't gotten a cheapie just to try it? I got my first Pam on a whim and now I really like them and have moved on to get others. I cam to the rep world looking for a rolex (who has the best sub?) and now have sold my rolex reps and my only reps are Pam 177, a PloProf and a Breitling Abyss. To an extent reps are a great way to try different style watches without blowing big bucks that the gens would cost.
  2. Can get the DSSD in a PVD. If you really want a beefy watch get the challenger and send it off to get coated.
  3. Looks great and a nice trick to clean the watch. I bet it's the vinegar in the catsup that does the trick. Ok, I've got to ask about wrist size presence as this watch is growing on me. I can wear and feel comfortable with my 177 and even wore a 243 for a while. The largest watch I have worn and thought look ok was the PloProf. How do these 47mm compare? I have a 170mm wrist for reference.
  4. Ok so Tom beat me to it.... That's what happens when you use an iPhone to type a long response...
  5. It can be a bit much to know but it is out there to learn. Also, don't let anyone tell you that you can't ask a question. Yes there are questions that scream that your a newbie but understand it's not so much the topic but the way a newbie asks the question that will upset the members.... Example: who has the best sub? All around stupid question that the obvious answer to is Rolex..... Better question: I've seen mention of TC, BK or Noob in regards to sub but I don't know the difference. Can anyone point me to a great post comparing these? I've tried the search but I'm still confused.... Still screams newbie but shows you've tried, and do try the search function, it works great! Also of value, use google search to search rwg by typing "site:rwgforum.net BK sub" in he search function and be amazed at the results that appear.... BK= modder/dealer that sources noob watches and provides QC and support on the stuff he sells. US based and has a section here that lists his products for sale. MBW=MBK= supplier of rolex reps or cases, not really around this forum but they are good quality and show up from time to time in the sales section. George=WM9= name of a former supplier to BK that had great Rollie watches that reports say died in a car wreck. WM9 was apparently one branch of a family business that the other half is still around and supplies watches to TC. AD= Authorized dealer, ie the store that is authorized from the factory to sell the real deal. Lucky= from a long time ago, don't remember much about lucky someone else can fill you in.
  6. They all seem to be spot on, so get what you prefer.
  7. I'm in Houston, I have had packages route thru San Francisco, Chicago and thru Newark. Never directly into D/FW and the shipping was EMS that handed over to USPS. That plus, the dealers know their stuff about how to ship counterfeit goods with lowest possible risk of seizure. Order a watch and sit back and in about 1.5-2 weeks it should be on your wrist. Otherwise be patient, browse the sales section often and put up a wtb ad stating your preference of a conus deal. Breitlings are not as numerous as other brands so are not frequent offerings but do pop up from time to time. I, just last week, bought a 44mm Abyss in a conus m2m deal, should be here tomorrow and on my wrist soon after that.
  8. Well that only took 6 days to digress to a cock joke... We must be loosing our class....
  9. I also would say seagul. Their movements are typically the nickel plated with nice decorations on the visible parts and no stamps.
  10. Based on the pics it does look to be a 2892 variant, tbh it looks Asian but would need to get as close up to the escape wheel area as possible. From the pic posted I don't see any stamps there so that's what leads me to say Asian until proven swiss. But then again I am viewing this on my iPhone....
  11. In general people are polite around here, but in Houston we get the big city bug and revert to small talk with strangers. In the outskirts of the city we do get much more polite depending on the suburb. Where I live we have a much smaller town feel but just outside my area is a big "richer than you" suburb that is full of snobs that wouldn't give you the smallest bit of help when in need... I'd say it's about the same as everywhere else...
  12. It looks pretty good, there appears to be some bickering about a round vs flat S in Submariner and the white bezel font vs platinum.
  13. I am in Texas also and there is no issue getting reps shipped in, usually takes about a week or two to ship.
  14. Most I have ever gotten was a Rad Tech in the elevated saw my Noob 177n and asked if that was a Luminor, said he liked those, who makes those? Starts with a P... So at least he realized it wasn't a Casio..... People that I don't know usually get a smile and a nod in return to their inquires, but that's how it usually happens with most things in life. I live in a big city, we smile, nod, carry on with polite small talk then part ways and never see each other again.
  15. I have a copy of the Daytona PDF on my iPhone, if anyone wants it and can guide me in how to send it from my iBooks I'll send it. I might have a copy of the sub story at home, I remember it to be a really large file so if you would like it we might have to work something out.
  16. I think PT has to manually process the credit card transactions from the third party before it shows up on the pt website.
  17. You know that they are both 40mm watches right? And as far as drilling a hole for a new stem, that's not what you'd do. In this case it would be best to get one of the subs that will fit a 3135 movement.
  18. What you pay for with BK is QC, mods and Swiss movement. He orders the watch and re-assembles the watch himself with a few mods in the process. With the Sub-C he completely disassembles the watch and builds it up from the pieces. He will even ensure that the insert is aligned correctly as well as popping and re-gluing the cyclops to remove the colored haze from the glue that the factory uses. So there is a reason that he charges more than the typical dealer. Is it worth the extra? Depends on if you care about the issues from the factory or if you could do the mods yourself
  19. +1 Will need better pics to see the detail before many guys will give opinion. With the detail we can tell who the maker likely is and will give a better opinion.
  20. Ken's stuff is top notch, not certain that someone would be selling one of Ken's bags at that steep of a discount. So careful when you say similar to his stuff, that's like saying a Canal street sub is similar to a TC or BK sub. Other than that, for $50 bucks what could go wrong?
  21. Congrats, hope I'm still kicking by my eight year aniversery in another five!
  22. Mike I hate to say but I rarely find overstock.com to be the cheapest...
  23. Hate to burst any bubbles but amazon has these for $133, same bang less buck.... http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003P1J9FS/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1394846219&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40
